They begin by analyzing your needs and then set a date for begin the cleaning out/organizing process. If supplies are needed, storage crates/boxes/hangers/labels...you have the option of her purchasing those for you or getting them yourself. They show up on organization day - supplies in hand - and get started! They make categories to assist in the clean out 'donate/trash/keep' and then pull everything out and separate. Janet will arrange for someone to arrive and haul things away (which I used to haul old storm windows out of our basement); and she will personally take your things to donate if you like (she provides the receipt back to you after the fact). Once things are pulled out and purged, they begin the process of putting things back, in an organized manner that makes sense. Their systems are very easy to maintain. It really was a 'simplified' service...just as their name states. Also, they are very pleasant to work with, important as the homeowner is often very involved in the process. Nice to work alongside. *I do know there are cases when they do EVERYTHING though, without the homeowner involved. Just depends on your budget and how involved you want to be in the process.

Janet and I worked together for two months to get my house ready for my guest. I completed my homework (and then some) when she wasn't here and together we made so much progress that I wasn't just comfortable with my house when my house guest came. I was proud of my home, and that's something I wasn't sure I would ever be able to say. Janet will work for as long as you can work. She'll help you make tough decisions and let go of things you don't need. She'll never judge you or your clutter. With Janet's help, my home is decluttered and pleasant, I can have people over any time without going into a flurry of activity to "tidy up" and I now have systems in place to handle documents and bill-paying. When I need to find something, I now know precisely where it is and never have to hunt. Mail doesn't stack up and clutter doesn't appear the way it did. I can't wait to get started on my next project with Janet! I might actually get my car in the garage this winter!
Description of Work: Unpacking and organizing almost my entire home: I had a project that I thought was unmanageable. I'd lived in my house for over a year and hadn't really unpacked. I had way too much stuff and not enough room for any of it. Every time I looked around my house, I felt defeated. I have a beautiful home that I wasn't able to enjoy. Then I found out an important house guest was coming to visit and knew I had to do something, so I called Janet to come help me unpack and declutter the house.

I had been in a significant period of major depressive disorder due to the deaths of both of my parents within five months of each other. A natural ADHD "clutter-er," the situation at my house had gone WAY beyond that. There were literally paths through the clutter and at some places you simply had to walk over things to get by. I was overwhelmed by it. It's difficult to ask for help because frankly, it's embarrassing when your house gets to that point. I was supposed to host Christmas for my family and had to cancel because it was *so* overwhelming - I didn't know where to start! Janet came in and MOST importantly, I never felt "judged" by her. She came in with a positive attitude and a "we can get this done" together mindset. What I have learned is that while I may (hopefully) be able to follow systems, my brain does not naturally PUT things into orderly systems, so I need help setting up systems. Janet is a master. She has worked patiently and lovingly with my children as well.
Description of Work: Every single room in my house was cluttered. No stone was left unturned. It's still an ongoing project, but Janet uses every moment wisely and we talk while we're organizing so the time goes by quickly and I learn while we are working. As a single mom, I could never have come as far as we have without Janet's help. I am starting to get it and I am starting to believe I can maintain a system - which is a whole new place to me. In addition, Janet has been a source of emotional support and a friend and that makes the whole process so delightful. Janet is a true professional and I sincerely appreciate and HIGHLY RECOMMEND her services!!! The interesting aspect - I believe it makes Janet unique - is that she is not a "naturally" organized person. This stuff all came "genetically" to my mom, so she was never able to "teach" it to me. Janet taught it to herself which makes her an exceptional teacher to others - like me - who aren't "wired" that way. She sets up systems to follow.

Although my rooms were both really difficult and it was really hard to live with the mess being in other places for a few days, it has been so worth every minute spent on it. At least in my laundry room, I have a place for everything and that place is labeled! Instead of using my shelves for books and junk, Ive got only things that are used on a frequent basis. Janet is kind and funny and an absolute fount of organizational knowledge which she imparted while we were working together. Its amazing how much difference a little thing like a box for receipts can make. No more searching in the bottom of my purse. I take them in to that box when I get home from shopping and if I have to return something I know right where to go to find the receipt. That is just one small idea out of many that Janet helped me implement at my house. I have a lot more to do in my house and I would not hesitate to call Janet to help me with it.
Description of Work: Janet helped me declutter and organize my kitchen and my laundry room. Janet first gave me a one hour consultation to assess the needs and how much time it would take to do the job. For some people that would be all that they needed but I wanted Janets help in the actual organizing. So we set up a time for her to come back and we started on the laundry room which was the junk collecting room. Janet had me sort things into piles and would ask me questions about some of the items, such as, is this really special or is it something that you could buy somewhere in the future if you really needed it? That question was very helpful. Asking that first helped me get rid of so much. The kitchen was easier but still took several hours. I now have some empty drawers, Ive gotten rid of appliances and other things that I just didnt use and I have room in my cabinets for necessary things.

I called Janet to have her help us get organized so that we could put our house on the market and prepare for a move. Janet was responsive from the first call. She sent me a short survey to determine my needs and then dove in. In just a few hours, she had my desk area and files cleaned and organized. My closet is finally in order and she helped me discover a mudroom where a hall closet used to be. She helped me organize the important things and purge the clutter. Janet is professional, honest, hardworking, and a joy to work with. Nothing is better than getting rid of clutter and knowing that we are not going to be moving anything that we wont really be using or needing. She brought tubs and bins to organize existing items, took clothes and other unwanted items to donation center and consignment stores. Our house looks so great now that we are motivated to stay organized. We will call Janet again after the move to get us organized at the new house so we can enjoy it from Day One.
