They did a good job

The construction was top notch. There was some small delay getting started. It was a week or so later than anticipated, but once started, they focused on the job until it was done. The work product was outstanding and it blended beautifully with the rest of our home. They came in right on budget. I will hire again. Robert is quiet and competent.

The contractor showed up on time to look at the work. The contractor indicated submitting a proposal via email for the work over the weekend, but it wasn't received until sometime mid the next week around 8/26 due to some family conflicts. The proposals were complete as promised and the pricing was within our budget. I immediately responded requesting a date to start. I never received a response to the email. I sent a text the same day and the contractor responded he would look at it later. I sent another text the next day after not hearing anything back, and finally received a response 2-days later that he had two big jobs that has snowballed into more work. He indicated right now it would be about a month and a half. So I responded on 8/28 and ask if he could commit to a 10/12 start which would be about a month and a half. His response on 8/28 was he may be out of town that week but would look at the calendar over the weekend and give me a firm date to start. On 8/31 (the last time I heard from this contractor) was "I am waiting to hear back from someone then I'll be able to give you a start date." We lost all confidence in this contractor and decided to seek other pricing. The proposal on the next contractor was higher and out of our budget. Since we had the proposals broke up in 3 phases, we were able to still have 2 of the most important phases completed under budget and maybe come back to the 3rd phase. Most importantly we now have a cense of confidence starting out with a contractor we trust will provide us a good job.

Since then, we have had a hard time actually getting him out to start the work. He has been very evasive so far in scheduling. He keeps telling us that he will get to our job in "a couple weeks". Each time we have spoken to him, he seems to have added on more and more projects on top of ours while pushing ours to the back burner. Had he told us up front that he didn't want to do the job until the Spring because of his schedule that wouldn't have been such a big issue. He has kept pushing us back and pushing us back and now we are stuck until the Spring anyway and will most likely have to start from scratch. We are in the middle of renovating the room where the leak has been detected but we can't finish that project because stopping the leak may require interior access to the room so he has effectively delayed the entire project for us. We really wish that he had just been up front with us from the beginning.

Bathroom and door installation went well. Contractor was working multiple jobs at different locations, so job at my home took longer than necessary. Very good workmanship, particularly on tub and tile installation.

While I cannot speak for any actual services or work, I would not recommend using Toombs Construction based on their awful responsiveness and follow-up. I got a return call quickly when I initially contacted them and even mentioned I got their info from Angie's List. The contractor told me to send him an email (toombsconstruction@yahoo.com) with my contact info and he would reply the following day for an appointment. I never heard from him again. My biggest pet peeve is how unresponsive contractors are and this was a perfect example. Maybe Toombs has enough work to ignore customers and not follow up on requests or inquiries, but I can at least warn other potential customers about their unreliability.

Robert and his crew did an excellent job. They were very careful and attentive to detail. I was impressed with their dedication to do quality work. When a board had a slight gap in it, Robert's technician expended great effort to scrape the plank off of the floor (our lower level flooring was glued to the concrete slab) and replace it with a new one. Robert also was very careful to do our stairways just right, and came back several times after we had already paid him to do touch ups! He will also move furniture, which other installers will not do, or will charge extra for doing. Robert's quote was about a thousand dollars less than Flooring Express' own installers (not counting furniture moving, which Flooring Express installers would have charged a lot for), and about half of what another contractor wanted. Robert has a small operation and he can't send in ten guys to finish a job in one day, so you have to be a little patient with the scheduling sometimes, but it is well worth it for quality work. I recommend them highly!!

He seemed very knowledgeable and knew he would need to make window frames for the windows for a proper installation. Work was done in a reasonable time and to my satisfaction. I would recommend him.

My husband and I contacted with Toombs Construction after several unfortunate incidents with another no-name contractor. I was about one month away from having our first baby and two-thirds of our home was down to the studs and had major exterior work to be done as well. Robert was very quick to respond to my initial phone call and came out to our house within 24 hours. My request was simple: "I need you to finish the interior and I need it done in under 5 weeks". His response was also simple: "We can do that". Albeit, the cost of this company's work seemed very high, at first. The quality is beyond acceptable, the punctuality of the work done was impeccable, and after the debacle and endless cost "that other guys" caused, we were, to say the least, pleased to have Toombs' company at work for us. We were able to bring our fresh new human home to a (mostly) finished renovation; something that without Toombs would not have been possible. Since that first set of tasks, we have had Toombs out to do most of what remained of our overhaul, and we plan to contract with him for any future home renovation. Robert is a well seasoned contractor with great skill and professionalism. His crew is comprised of friendly and diligent workers who were very considerate of our family and our property. Of our many experiences with contractors, Toombs far exceeds our expectations. He has restored my faith that honest and reliable contractors do exist. I reccomend Toombs Construction for any home improvement project.

They were good. Their demeanor was good. The work was good but not great.

Robert and assistant did excellent work, really cleaned up after done and hauled all thrash off to dump. Just plain old quality work that really made me happy when done. Excellent quality. Definitely would recommend the company to friends, family and neighbors.

I did not use them. The guy who came out was friendly and on time. He just came out to look at what I wanted done and he wrote down the measurements and talked to me about my overall goals. And then, he went home and sent me the quote probably a week and a half later. The quote was higher than I what wanted. It took him a little bit to get the quote done so I thought that he was really slow on his response time, but he had told me that he was really busy. There is really a room for improvement for him but he was not bad.

He is reliable and he shows up when he is supposed to.

Robert and his team did an excellent job on my project. Their attention to detail was impressive. The work was done during the winter months and they showed up to work consistently every day during the week and often times on the weekends, even worked during some pretty brutal weather. They worked until the job was completely finished and cleaned up after themselves each day. As with any construction project, there were changes that I had asked for on work that had already been completed. Robert promptly took care of my requests without any issues and didn't charge any extra. Robert and his team were very professional and easy and friendly to work with.

The work went very well, and the final bathroom is beautiful!

We wanted to do part of the work. If you want to do this you should make getting your tasks done in a timely manner.

Overall the work went very well and we were pleased with the results. Robert was competent , reliable, and easy to work with.

Contacted Toombs Construction to help me fix some spots in my roof that were swelling up due to improper techniques used by roofers before I had moved into this home. Robert is a very knowledgeable contractor and knew exactly what was needed to make sure this didnt happen again. His rates were UNBELIEVABLY good. He came over and finished the work in one day right before the rain hit the next day. Im VERY happy to now know that my roof should be good for the next decade or two!!
