JOHN BLOCK DECK CONTRACTOR

It was very nice. We loved his idea. It looked like it had been built with the house. Workmanship was superb. All the materials were very high quality and very attractive. Everything looked just splendid. It took him about 4 weeks to complete the work.

WE DID NOT GO WITH MR BLOCK BECAUSE HE WAS VERY HIGH ON PRICING AND WOULD NOT EVEN COME OUT TO OUR HOME TO LOOK AT THE PROJECT WE WANTED COMPLETED AND GIVE US AN ACTUAL ESTIMATE, ALL HE DID WAS BASE HIS ESTIMATE ON WHAT HE WAS TOLD OVER THE PHONE. CHARGING THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY AS HOME BUILDERS CHARGE TO BUILD A HOUSE.

I could have not asked for a better person to cover my porch and extending it 8 feet. The work he did was more than professional. He helped design the overlay of the porch making it into a deck. Completion date was done on time, cleaned up every day at the end did not leave any debris laying around. I would highly recommend John block deck contractor to anyone looking to have a deck or porch cover extension work done. John and his son Josh were very professional and enjoyed working with them during the project.

I highly recommend John block deck contractor for doing your deck or porch cover up. He is very professional along with his son Josh. Like some contractors they will leave material and trash until they are done with the job, where John and Josh cleaned up everyday that they were here working. I give them a 10 plus rating and again I we recommend. They were on time and the job is complete.

Wonderful. They were professional, efficient, friendly, and qualified. Excellent deck. Good suggestions for a new design. 5 days for the whole project, even working in the rain to complete the job.

All work completed within 3 days. Tore down old deck and took away all pieces. Built a great new deck. Lots of great suggestions for materials and design. Expensive but worth it.

Went extremely well. Did a fantastic job removing and most importantly building the new deck. Did things like we wanted and even had to replace some steps and rebuild them after we decided we wanted them a little deeper. Very professional and punctual.

Excellent! He came to discuss the work and designed the replacement structure for us. After we accepted the bid, he gave us an estimated start date and kept us informed when the date slipped a couple of days. Since it was a small walkout and steps, the whole project took less than 3 days. We chose the no maintenance Azek material for the decking and aluminum for the railing. We are extremely pleased with the finished project and would recommend him to everyone.

The whole process went great. John met with us, listened to our ideas and designed a layout that worked for us. He gave us a price immediately and we agreed and work began about 8 weeks later. John tells you that he will only be working on one project at a time. Construction took about three weeks from tearing down the old deck to the project being finished. He kept the worksite clean each evening. John suggested a couple enhancements during the construction that we agreed to. Communication was great. He would text me with during the construction with updates. I am thrilled with the results.

John did a great job. Straight forward pricing and was spot on with the time frames. Helped direct us through the permit process as well. Prompt, profession and does great work. Highly recommend that you contact John and get a quote.

John designed a better layout for the deck and built it in a few weeks. It looks great and is very low maintenance.

John and his son worked together and did a fantastic job leaving everything beautiful and clean. They are very professional, reliable and really know what they are doing. It was a pleasure working with them. The final product is stunning albeit on the pricey side.

John came out to estimate the job and gave us two proposals, one using composite decking and one using pressure treated lumber. We chose pressure treated lumber because or the lower cost. He did a great job doing the demolishion and construction and fixed some of the problems that caused the previous stairs to fail. I highly recommend John.

John and son Josh are professional and courteous. I especially appreciated the excellent communication before and during the process. Handled changes requested mid stream with ease. It's an absolutely beautiful finished product. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

Excellent! If I could rate higher than "A" I would! John is so skilled, knowledgable, professional, and personable. He is an experienced carpenter whose work was done with such a high level of expertise. He took time to listen to what I wanted and gave suggestions/issues to consider. He gave a clear written contract. He completes one job at a time and the work was finished within two weeks with daily clean up. From guidance in choosing materials, to the beautiful finished deck, John really cares about quality of work. His work is exceptional. He is courteous and a pleasure to work with. Very professional. I liked that he only does one job at a time. Weather delayed a little but he was outside in the cold making sure our deck was completed very quickly. High quality and it looks great.

As other reviews have mentioned, John Block may not be the least expensive deck builder, but he delivers exceptional value in the work of he and his son, Josh. John came to our house to evaluate the existing deck and structure, he was very thorough in explaining options to us and in engaging us to understand how we use our deck to that he could ensure what he built met our needs. He left us with complete drawings and costs on his initial visit. Upon agreeing to the work, we were delivered a written contract that included a payment schedule that was aligned to phases of the work being completed. We were able to schedule our work to start within about 7 weeks from agreeing to the contract. Once our scheduled work date came, John and Josh were polite, timely, professional, and did an immaculate job of keeping the work site organized and clean. As our job involved tearing off an old deck floor and railing, I was expecting a mess. At the end of each day, all trash/scraps were gone! The commitment to quality is evident in our new deck, John and Josh took care to ensure that seems were tight and aligned, that all the finish work was neat, even to the point of rounding edges on railings ends to ensure a matching edge of the machine finished railing sides. We are extremely pleased with the new deck and have received compliments from everyone who has seen John and Josh's work.

Great work very efficient and accommodating even with all of the changes we made after his initial consultation. He gets booked up quickly so call early. Him and his son do all the work so no sub contractors.

I can't say enough good things about John. I looked out the window once and he was working in what looked like a white out! He showed up as scheduled, did a beautiful job, kept the site clean and the final cost was exactly what we discussed. The deck is beautiful and he's a real craftsman. We have an old deck that will need to be replaced in the next few years and we'll just give John a call. No need to get several estimates. We have our "Deck Guy". :-)

Working with John could not have been more smooth of a process. He spent a lot of time in our first meeting to hear what I wanted and to sketch it out. He provided details on how he was going to build it and the materials, which was greatly appreciated. Once construction began, it was quick, clean, smooth and resulted in a perfect finished product. We ended up not needing as many stairs as projected, so we even came in a little under the estimate. I love my new deck...it's added a great new living space to my house

We contacted John Block several months back along with a few other contractors. Right away John was the standout because his dedication to using quality products and because he was the only contractor who listened to what we wanted and helped provide a design that met our wants and needs. My husband and I took a while to decide what to do because we couldn't agree on deck size and the type of building material, but John followed up and even made another trip to our home to help us decide on a design, and finally we had a plan that my husband and I agreed on. John was able to work us into his schedule, and he came to build the deck with his son. Both were courteous and professional, and they cleaned up their work area each day. When the deck was complete (ahead of schedule!) John took the time to explain to us how the deck would change with time (shrinking due to treated lumber drying out), and that we would need to tighten up a few things in a year or so after everything had been through a few seasons of weathering. He even gave us the specific tool needed to do the tightening. We are pleased with the quality and structure of the deck (and my husband and I are very particular and detail-oriented). We are happy we chose John Block.
