Aire Serv was great, I still use them. They check it once a year. They're great, they're fine, the price was good, customer service is wonderful, they're prompt, they're efficient, anything you can do. They check it annually, and do a great job.

Very curious gentleman. Worked fast and explained everything that he did.

Gent showed up and explained he could not check the freon amount - too cold (so why come), he then inspected the system and told me I need some new parts - several hundred dollars. I had a second A/C company come in, they added one lb. to the Freon and informed me the system parine.

seemed to start ok. in the offer the Freon pressures are supposed to be monitored which was not done nor the cleaning of the condenser. the next day I used my air conditioner to have it just freeze up on me. which more then likely are because the Freon levels are not where there suppose to be. because this is a new unit all I heard from the tech is that they should be good. now I have to call another company which I hate to have this service done again. I'm not blaming the company because I have a leak but this would have been known if the test had been done in the first place.

They were very responsive for scheduling and were on time the day of. The two guys that preformed the services were friendly, efficient and did a good job. I understand that part of the tune up is to up sell services or parts, which occurred, but they were friendly and once some of the services were declined they did not push the point. I would hire them again and plan on highering in the spring for my ac tuneup. They did replace the capacitor on the 12 year old furnace as well.

The install was quick and professional.

The technician and his apprentice arrived and were pleasant to deal with. He checked the furnace and found a blown fuse on the circuit board which he replaced and it started right up. He said there's your problem, which would have been great and earned an A for them. Then he proceeded to perform the tuneup and inspection. He had his assistant check one motor with his meter and said it was running at maximum capacity, according to the meter, and needed to be replaced by winter as failure was imminent. (For $500) OK. Continue. He checks and cleans the igniter, then tests the capacitor on the main blower motor. This was well below specs. It needed to be replaced. (For $250.) Carry on. He tests the circuit board and all readings are good. The he tells me he is going to flip it over because you can sometimes see issues. I have worked on computers for 15 years. You can spot a bad board on occasion without a test. However, he just tested it and it was good. He flips the board over and goes into a dire "Oh, jeez! This board is bad and needs to be replaced immediately." (for $650) He shows me where 8 or 10 pin connector is and shows me these holes at the end of the pins on the solder points. "These are all from blown resistors. Any time you see this on the bottom of a board it means they are blown and needs to be replaced." Did I mention I work on computers? Anyway, there were no burn marks to indicate a bad lead at all. I ask him if he needs to check out the AC unit as EVERY tuneup/checkup I have ever had, the technician inspected it. "I don't need to check it out." Uh, OK. When it's all said and done, he presents me with a quote for either $1,500 in repairs or "You should just consider a new furnace since this one is 11 years old. They are normally good for 15-20 years, but you should consider replacing this one." No thank you. I'm not replacing an 11 year old furnace. I pay my bill and they leave. I also call another company for a second opinion. Next morning I get a call from someone in sales. "I heard you have a furnace problem and I would like to come out and discuss options." I tell him I made arrangements to have the company I normally use check it because I don't think an 11 year old furnace needs $1,500 worth of work. We volley back and forth a bit and I continue to say no thank you. Three hours later a lady calls. "The boss says it's slow and he will do the work for $900." I ask how can there be a 40% price drop within a day? I say that means they were pounding me to start. I then decline and say that I am getting a second opinion. Today I get my second opinion. I don't tell them WHAT was found prior, just that I don't buy it. They check the first motor. No odd noises. Within specs. running nice and quiet. I tell them what Aire Servs tech said. They state that they didn't even consider this because it was so quiet and within specs. Then the test the capacitor. BINGO! It is bad! ($95 including labor. Not $250) They question why the circuit board blew a fuse as "This normally only happens if there is a short in the low voltage wiring. WE NEED TO CHECK THE AC UNIT". (Aire Serves tech said he didn't need to.) He tests the circuit board that was in immediate need of replacement. Tests good. I ask him to check the bottom and he does. No reaction. Says it's good. I point out what the other tech said. He says there are no burn marks and the holes are normal on the pins for the plugs. They check the AC unit. Lo-and-behold, the chipmunks chewed up the low voltage wiring and they found a mouse nest in the electrical panel on the unit. All said and done, $270 for the service which INLCUDED signing up for a 1 year service agreement. $92.90 for part and labor. $180 for the service agreement. The day after the Aire Serve service, I was talking to a coworker. This past winter while his heat went out on a ten year old furnace. Aire Serve came out. They told him he needed a new furnace and AC for $4500. He declined. Called someone else and paid $150 for a part and labor. My take is that they use the $59 coupon to get in your door and try to push you into an expensive repair. Their $1,500 in parts and labor which dropped to $900 or the "New Furnace for a couple grand" was in all reality, some chipmunk chewed wires and a capacitor for under $300 including a service agreement.

Technician came out to install the humidifier. Timely, professional, friendly, and most important knowledgeable.

I had them come out and give me an estimate for new system. I received a good price and was even told it could be installed the next day. We were busy then, but scheduled it for the following week. Ian, the installer showed up promptly at the appointment time and got right to work. He finished the AC that day, and we could use the new Air Conditioner. He came back the following morning to finish the furnace work. He was finished in a few hours. He was an excellent and professional representative of the company. He finished the job and did a total cleanup hauling away the old system. I was impressed with his service. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future.

My husband called and was told there was someone already in the area and that a call would go out to him when he was done at the job he was at and they would send him our way. My husband said that about 15-20 minutes later there was a knock on the door and there was the repairman. He was courteous and explained everything to my husband. It wasn't long before our HOT house was COOL again. He did recommend the hard start but we didn't take him up on the offer that day. We will probably be contacting Aire Serv in the near future to have that installed. Couldn't be more happy with the service and have already recommended Aire Serv to a friend.

It went ok. They made suggestions on things they wanted done.

Dave, who was very friendly, professional and efficient, inspected my central AC unit. He determined that, while still working, the unit would benefit from a few parts replacements. He explained that it would help prolong the life of the condenser if he replaced the capacitor and relay switch both of which were worn and therefore putting extra stress on the unit. He also highly recommended adding a booster which helps start the unit and relieve stress on it. I had some reservation spending money on something that seemed to be working fine. Dave clearly explained this preventative maintenance and it's possible long term cost benefit. This seemed to make sense so i agreed to having the work done. This is the second time I've used Aire Serve in the last year. They are professional, punctual and efficient. I will use their services again if needed.

Dave was great. Walked through all of the things that he was doing, made suggestions and gave tips on how to make our unit last longer. Suggested Advantage Plan, as well.

I purchased the Angies List deal last year for an annual air conditioning tune up. They came out and inspected it and said that I needed freon. They charged for the freon and also told me I needed a new capacitor for $250 some dollars (cannot remember exact price but it was around $250). I did not go ahead with it because we were not having problems with it, and the unit is not old. Fast forward to June of this year and my air conditioner is making these horrible screeching noises. I call in the company that usually services my air conditioner because they installed it. What they found was an inch thick of debris all around the condenser outside. It was literally making the air conditioner burn up. He checked the power coming from the capacitor and while it wasn't top notch, it wasn't at the point of replacement either. But I did have to go and replace the motor and fan because the condenser got so hot from not actually being cleaned by Valparaiso Air Serve last year, so I went and replaced the capacitor at that time. So not only did they not actually DO part of the tune up (cleaning the outside condenser), I believe they tried to take advantage of me on the capacitor.

Service Tech David Wehling arrived right on time and did a thorough job of explaining his findings after completing the system analysis (11 years old). He recommended replacing a bad capacitor ($187.47), a compressor booster (aka: hard start kit $96.97) and their "advantage plan" for $159.95. I opted to replace the capacitor and reject the service plan + "booster". David was professional and not pushy - so in regards to the service provided it was excellent and the prices were in line with other companies. No complaints whatsoever. However, I wish I did my due diligence and spent 5 minutes researching replacing a capacitor. I would recommend doing the same if you find yourself needing a replacement. They are <$10.00 and take about 60 seconds to swap out; adding the typical caveat about safety warnings + discharging the existing capacitor. Shame on me.

I would use Valparaiso AireServ again in a heartbeat. Our 24+ year old Lennox A/C unit has never had a lot of maintenance, and it had been a few years since the last inspection. David, the technician, was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient...everything you always hope a technician will be. And, yes, he insisted on wearing booties over his shoes when he came in--even when I said he didn't need to. He showed me and explained in understandable detail exactly what he found and why he was recommending the additional work. What's more..he was NEVER condescending nor pushy about it. I would have loved to ordered a whole new unit, but it just isn't possible at this time. When we do, Valparaiso AireServ will be whom we call. Don't hesitate to call them if you want someone you can trust.

Service Appt was scheduled 8a.m.-10am. Dave the lead service tech, was here prompty at 8 and introduced himself, he was a very nice professional guy. He explained what he was going to do., he proceeded to check inside filters and thermostat. He explained to me in detail why the parts needed replaced and used a diagram which was very helpful. Dave used shoe covers inside and brought a door mat for cleanliness.Impressive. Avery good experience and will use them again for my winter furnace checkup.

I purchased the deal for a Whole House Humidifier for $399 through Angie's list on February 27th. Someone from the office called me in less than an hour to set up the appointment. I had hoped that we'd be able to get the unit installed sometime the following week, as it had been very cold and therefore very staticky in our home. The woman I spoke with, whose name I am unable to remember, said she had an appointment available that day at noon and asked if I'd like it. YES! The serviceman that came out was on time, got there right at noon. He wore booties, so he wouldn't track anything around our home. My husband showed him to the furnace and he got right to work. He had the unit installed in less than two hours and then gave my husband a lesson on how the humidifier works, what needs to be changed and how often. He gave him some tips on prolonging the life of the filter. He was knowledgeable and courteous. I was very impressed with the immediate response of Valparaiso Aire Serv, the great service that we received and will definitely be sure to contact them again in the future for any HVAC needs.

Ren and his staff are amazing! Our furnace was no longer working and filling the house with smoke. Ren quickly came to our house to determine the problem and make recommendations for what we needed to do. While we did not want to hear that we needed to purchase a new furnace, Ren made the process as painless as possible. They promptly came back the same day to replace our furnace. The service was impeccable - professional, very efficient, explained the installation process thoroughly and left the area spotless. I am very pleased with the service and would not hesitate to call again. It was so nice to find a contractor that you feel comfortable with and who you know will always have your best interests in mind. Thank you for going above and beyond to exceed our service expectations!!
