SMIDDY'S CARPET

Worst people to ever work with. The installer was able to con $300 cash from us. He left to materials and never came back. Did not finish the job as agree upon. Buyer beware, don't use them.

We worked with Dan & Bill Smiddy (owners). They are both professional hard working and sincere. They helped us select the right carpet for our needs and likes. They treated our home with respect as if it their home. There quote was a few much less than other companies. We appreciated not paying all the extra mark ups for the same high quality.

Installer was late everyday. Job site was left messy. For example: Grout on the carpet, walls, and splattered on the front porch and landscaping and our bathroom trashcan was used as a saw horse. We were unimpressed with the tiling workmanship of the installer. The store was very willing to address our concerns.

It took 5 months to complete the work because the person doing the tile work did not do the work, he had helpers to do the work and it was not done correctly. There were holes left in the floor with no grouting between the tiles. And there were tiles in the half bathroom that had no grouting between the tiles. Where there was grouting- it bubbled and big spaces were left from the bubbles, and a second grouting was not done. The workiers left hand prints all over the doors to the bathrooms, and all over the base boards. .There was grout tracked all over the carpet in the other rooms, and on woodwork where the workers left their hand prints. Workers were in my house for 5 months to do the work because of inexperienced workers that didn not know what to do correctly. I had to bring another worker in to fix all the errors that this company left. I sent the pictures of the quality of work to the owner, but he did not contact me to try to justify all the problems that I occured with this work. I was not pleased with the quality of work that was displayed by this company. My friends have visited my home and have seen this job, and have told me I should take them to court to get my money back.

And the "How did it go" part of your website simply doesn't work, so I'll put it here. It went very well. They staged the removal for one day and install for the next so I could repair sub-floor. I would not hesitate to use them again. The also arranged to have carpet remnants bound into throw rugs for a very reasonable price. Now, as far as Angie's List, it is allowing me to add this review but not search for anything new without paying more money (and I am paid up until Nov, 2015) , nobody home at customer service, general grade a low D-. Just getting this section of the comment system to work took five tries and two logins and a trip to the example window. Programming stinks. Grade (for Angie's List) - F.
