Think everything was explained pretty well above. Calls to Sears Customer Support did not help at all. During one call, after not getting any answers at all, asked to talk to supervisor. Gave up on that call after on hold for over 45 minutes. Bottom line: they do not care about your service problems. Have heard more than one person say they were told that it costs Sears less "to lose them as a customer than to resolve the situation". However, from a business standpoint, it is common knowledge that it takes less to keep a customer, than to market and lure in new ones. Just an ounce of effort on Sears part might have kept me as a returning customer. AVOID SEARS AT ALL COSTS. It may look ok now, but wait until you waste time with parts going bad, and waiting to go without the appliance until you can get it repaired (which may involve multiple visits by a technician and frustration on you).yy
Description of Work: For the third year in a row, the control panel went out on our Kenmore Dishwasher. 1st time: the dishwasher was old, and we bought a new (and similar) model). 2nd time: approximately one year ago. One visit just to come out and diagnose, and a second visit to install after part is shipped to you (so if everything even remotely goes smoothly, out a dishwasher for quite awhile. During the second install/repair of the 2nd time, Sears "cancelled" the appointment because there were not enough technicians to handle all of the scheduled jobs of the day. (yet another delay). Finally, this year, same part went out on dishwasher, we knew what happened last time, and indicated we knew which part was bad (control panel) and we do not need diagnosis, just come out and fix. Part arrives at our house, technician comes to repair, and notes that they sent the wrong part (sent the front panel of the dishwasher, not the control panel). No control panels to be found "anywhere", and so we were without a dishwasher for a long weekend when a large group of family was visiting (and had intentionally scheduled repair prior to). So, have to reorder correct part, and reschedule service visit. They said they "emergency ordered the part" and it would be in the next Tuesday. Next we receive a call saying we need to reschedule the service visit. A call to Sears Customer relations results in us being able to keep the appointment, but just having to call when the part comes in. Part comes in near noon day of scheduled repair...Sears indicates that the appointment was cancelled because we hadn't received the part. I indicated we did, in fact receive the part and are ready for service. "Well, we do not have available technicians for the rest of the day". Thanks Customer Service! Correct part arrives and is FINALLY installed and fixed, after weeks without dishwasher.

He first quoted as the same price for a new ice maker motor as for a refurbished one. We had to ask him several times before he re-checked and found a large price difference. He stated that he had a replacement model on his truck and then decided to go and look, and he didn't have one there. He charged us $472 for labor and parts, and said he would come back when the parts arrived and finish the job. A couple of hours later, we heard water running and found out that the ice maker house had busted and water was pouring into the basement. This was from the back of the unit that he did not see because he didn't check. We found a much better repair company, thru Angie's List, and had the Appliance Guys come out. They did check all those elements and told us that the ice maker wasn't getting a charge. We found out that we didn't need any of the parts or labor from Sears. Getting a refund from them has been horrible. Sears has routed all calls away from the physical Sears building in our town and no one can help you there. Instead we get transferred to multiple calling centers, that do not speak English clearly. I even walked into my local Sears with the parts in an attempt to just settle the return quickly. They told me that they couldn't help and put me on the phone with the Sears call center.
Description of Work: Sears sent a refrigerator repairman out. He looked over the ice maker and decided we needed a new one. He did tighten up some of the screws that were somewhat loose in the door. He did not check the voltage running to the ice maker or pull the unit out from the wall.

I called them on a Friday morning and they sent a repairman the same day. He called I described the problem that dryer was heating and drum turning but not drying clothes and there was no air moving out of dryer vent. He came as they said and quickly found the problem a large nut had come off ,and belt was off . This was a Maytag about 2 years old and would have been a problem caused by factory not tightening the nut . I did not have warranty so had to pay the bill. They offered to sell a warranty policy, but I declined .
Description of Work: Repaired clothes Dryer. Was not drying clother
