Description of Work: Frank Elkins was very informative when it came to putting a new roof on our house. To ease my mind he called me whenever I had a question or concern. His response time was quick even if he was on a job. Frank put extra venting on our roof to ensure proper ventilation when he did not have to. The cost for approximately 1800 sq ft ranch style home was $6600 for dimensional style shingle. The crew did a excellent job of making sure all nails and trash were picked up. I would recommend Frank Elkins to anyone. Frank was very professional at all times. He will be doing future jobs for my family.

Within a year of completion of the new roof, there was a leak. He did come out many, many times and tried to fix the leak, but it kept coming back, eventually ruining the ceiling and one wall below. This went on sporatically until the fall of 2009 when he blamed the leak on the plumbing. I had to pay a plumber for an inspection and to meet with him and tell him that the plumbing was fine. I also chose to have another roofing contractor look at the area with the stubborn leak. He said that the roof was done as cheaply as possible. He recommended that the area with the leak be torn off, a boot placed around a vent, and then re-roofed. Frank Elkins refused to do it that way and patched it again. It is now May of 2010 and it has held so far, but the other roofing contractor said it will only be a temporary fix. As far as the damage inside of the home caused by this roof leak, Frank made an attempt to repair it. He came out and hung drywall and then never showed up again. Although he said several times that he was going to come, he never did. After atleast 3-4 months of waiting, I eventually gave up on him and had to hire a contractor to finish the job. That contractor had to remove the drywall that Frank put and start from scratch because it was not hung correctly. Also, I did ask Frank Elkins to turn the damage caused to my home in to his insurance company, which he should be able to do if he is bonded as required by law. Frank told me that he does not carry insurance for any damages caused by his work.
Description of Work: Complete tear off, repair of an area that had been leaking, and installation of a new roof and vents.

Horrible, he never showed up to finish the job and left us no choice but to hire someone else to finish his sloppy mess!
Description of Work: Frank Elkins put a new roof on my house I'm renting in April 2006. We've had a leak in the bathroom ceiling for quite some time afterwards. In the fall of 2009, we called him to come look at it, which took him at least 6 times to patch, repair, etc. before he removed the drywall from the ceiling and part of the wall to try to prove it was the plumbing causing the problem and not the roof. It did end up being the roof leaking, so instead of replacing that section of the roof all he did was patch over it AGAIN! He even left the mess he made from tearing out the drywall and I had to clean it up. He promised to come back shortly to re-drywall, he was going to have a family member do it since they knew how to. Several months and phone calls from us later he did come back to hang the drywall but he used roofing nails to hang it, and did a very poor job at it. He again promised to come back and "finish" the drywall with mud in the next few days, but he never came back. He saw me at the gas station several weeks later and came up to me in my car and promised he'd be back by the end of that week to finish the job. He never showed! We ended up hiring a handyman to finish it, who by the way had to rehang it the correct way. Don't trust this guy with any work at your home. He does a poor job, doesn't guarantee his work or clean up after himself, and will never return to finish a job.
