Steve was great and answered a lot of questions. Though there was a bit of lag on the responsiveness and date of completion, it didn't affect the quality of the job or the services performed. I would hire again.

An estimator from SL came to my home to measure for a roofing and siding estimate. He spent about 15 minutes and was finished. He didn't realize that it was supposed to be siding as well as roofing but took the measurements and said he'd have the owner get back with me. After two weeks without contact, I received a letter in the mail indicating that SL had lost my phone number and asked if I would call to get the estimate. By that time I had moved on and selected another Angie's List contractor for the project. So I can't speak to the quality of their construction, but their professionalism was not up to expectations.

Very resonsive. Met my time requirements. Work itself was better than I had even hoped for . The deck is beautiful. They were prompt, professional, and extremely neat. I had zero to clean up when they finished. Wlll use them in the future for other projects and highly recommend them.

It was fine but I do not remember how much the estimate was. They were professional and they did not pressure me. They were quick to give me an estimate and they followed up on it. I could not be accurate on grading their responsiveness. I think that they were probably quick but I do not remember. I guess that they were responsive. I do not remember that they were not. I would consider getting an estimate from them in the future but it depends on what I will be doing.

It went well, S L Construction did exactly what they said they would do and exactly what I wanted. They arrived on time and were very professional. I intend to have them re-shingle the roof in about a year

Very professional and honest. Told me cause of leak in attic and approximate time frame for when my roof may need to be replaced.

Update on previous complaint, there was a misunderstanding about the $99 i paid, i thought it was being paid to S&L but apparantly that was a fee that was paid to Angies list & S&L received none of the $99. So i have no complaint with this company, though the real deals are misleading.

Steve responded quickly and visited promptly to assess our situation and offer options. Work was done very promptly and properly. Friendly crew, excellent clean-up, minimal invasiveness for such an invasive process (breaking through the roof!). Work was quick and efficient, pricing seemed fair. Steve seems good at follow-up. Job is not completed yet because we have delayed finishing due to painter availability (not Steve's fault). Will add more details when ceiling subcontracting job is completed. Update: A subcontractor Steve recommended did an inferior job of refinishing our ceiling and Steve has since terminated employment of this subcontractor. Steve was genuinely upset by our displeasure and reduced the price of the estimate--not that that resolved the problem the subcontractor inflicted on us. I would use Steve's services again, but I would request that he be on site more to monitor the work--not of his own workers, who are excellent--but the work of any subcontractors he might employ. In fact, if a subcontractor were offered, I would probably shop around first.

As an award winning Realtor with over 11 years experience, I've had the opportunity to work with many contractors. I've used contractors for my personal home, our rental properties and for my clients. Steve and his crew are fantastic! Professional, timely, did a great job of clean up, happy to answer all my questions. We interviewed 3 roofers and Steve was by far the most cost effective. The following year, we had him do another tear off on one of our rentals where there were already 2 layers of roofing and we didn't even bother to look around for another alternative. Steve is our guy!

I bought the house in January 2013 and I had stipulations on getting repairs done to the roof. A co-worker recommended S.L. Construction so I called them and Steve came out to look at my roof. I already had it in my mind that I was going to have a new roof put on. After showing him the areas of concern he told me my roof was old enough that he couldn't get that style shingle anymore and recommended a reroof. I decided to go with a steel roof, I picked out the color and Steve took care of the rest. The steel delivery got a little behind schedule but on the day it arrived S.L. Construction was there and got to work. It took them about 6 hours to do the whole thing which I thought was impressive. There was one minor concern after they were done. The first heavy rain I got, I noticed a leak on my porch. It was coming from an area where the porch roof meets the siding at an inside corner. I'm a little bit of a DIY'er and it looked like a tricky situation. I called them and Steve came back and fixed it himself. He put a valley in to make the water run away from the corner instead of towards it. I was happy with the repair and still am. We had some high winds this last fall and my roof held up great. I am very happy with the work they did.

Overall I was happy with their work when they left. Clean-up was well done. The residue from the old roof wasn't cleaned up until after the roof was completed so the work site appeared like a disaster zone. The crew worked hard and completed the job in one day. After they departed, I left I found some minor damage to the house, but did not call them back as it was easily repaired. Caulking where the shingles met the house was sloppy, and flashing in several locations did not fit properly. Shingle were applied neatly and overall the job looks nice. Steve, the owner was willing to work with me to keep the job within the available funds. Most important, the roof doesn't leak any more. I lowered the quality rating only due to the minor issues noted above.

We left numerous messages and never received a response. Other contractors were prompt to respond and come out and do estimates so I am confused why SL Construction does not have the same professional stance as others on Angie's List. I would never use this company because lack of responsiveness is the canary in the coal mine for other issues that they most likely have

I contacted five roofing contractors to get bids on replacing the roof on our 25 year old house (ranch). All came out with two bowing of the bidding because the roof was bigger than they expected. Steve of SL Construction gave us the lowest price and several alternative prices for lower quality shingles. We selected SLC after getting a positive review from a previous customer and looking at the job done for him by SLC. We had several delays before SLC was able to come out to our area (Aboite), but they finally came and quickly took all the old roofing material off the roof and replaced it with the new materials. I have not found any problems since the installation. So we are plaesed with the work done.

I received an estimate from Steve but had questions. I left two messages and never did get a call back. I probably would have used this contractor if I could have gotten a call back. I concluded if this was the type of customer service I would receive after the job was done, I would not want them to do the job. I have not and will not attempt to contact this contractor for any work in the future.

We hired S & L in March of 2011, they did not start the project for 2 months. S said that he wanted to finish up all open jobs before starting such a large job. Once started, work moved quickly for a month, then nobody would show up for a week or so. Poor coordination between S and contractors (ac , tile etc). The entire job when it was all said and done took OVER 6 months. THis was with many phone calls asking when they were coming to work (more than once S stated that it was too far to drive. Not sure why he took the job if he didn't want to do the work). The AC/plumbing contractors were total hacks. They "charged "our ac units when it was cold out which will not work. We knew this, so had S sign a contract with us stating that if the AC didn't work in the spring he would cover the cost of repairs (with the business of our choice). We had Doc Dancer come out and repair the units ($365). The bill was sent to S. He didn't pay it. When contacted about it (I sent our contract along with the bill as a reminder of our arrangement) he was verbally aggressive and refused to pay until a lawyer was suggested. We are still waiting to see if he pays the bill (3 months has passed.)The room addition turned out very nice, which one would hope after 6 months. I think S would do just fine on a small job, but our project was too large for him to handle. I will NEVER hire them again. Next time, I will go with a company with a reputation that they would like to uphold instead of a immature "businessman" who takes on too many jobs at once.

They were fast and they had the best price. My real estate agent told me about them. They answered my questions.

Great service from the planning stages, came up with a couple of plans. Worked with us to get the exact deck that we wanted. Fast, quality work. Tore off old deck, made some repairs to underlayment of the house and installed new deck.
