MICHIANA MOVERS

We had a terrible experience working with this company. We were dissatisfied with their overall professionalism and performance. They were a hour and a half late to start the day. Once they finally arrived they were instructed that we were interested in having everything in the house moved, however, the large items were a priority. We specifically hired movers for the difficult items like the treadmill. Unfortunately, the movers did not to move the treadmill, but did damage the walls of our basement in attempt to move it. We had to personally remove the treadmill the next day. The movers took 13 hours. When they finally arrived at our new home, they did not cover any of our carpet or put any protection on their boots before walking on our carpet. For that reason, all the furniture was left in the main level of the house and we personally had to move it the following day. Because the process was taking so long, our family had to assist in carrying all the equipment into the house. I had phone conversations with the crew throughout the evening and during each conversation, they indicated that they would be arriving shortly, which never happened. The crew never indicated that they needed additional instruction or direction in order to complete the process. The following day, I called the owner of the company and expressed my concerns. He was uncompromising and unapologetic. When I mentioned that the crew did not have any protection for our carpet, his response was "we never work with that color carpet." When I told him that our family had to assist the crew in order to get done in a timely fashion, he said "that is good for everyone because it gets done faster." The damage done to our walls was of little concern to him. No apology was received, nor was a promise to repair the damage for the new homeowners. I was told that I would receive a call back, which never happened until we took action to stop payment. Once the owner realized that payment was stopped, I finally received a call back. At this time, I was told that I was "crazy," "out of mind", "messed up in the head", and "pulling demonic s*#@". He also continued to tell me that there is a reason that the women, and not the husband, should be at home instructing the movers. Once the owner calmed down enough for me to speak, I explained that I wanted to pay him, but I felt that we either needed to negotiate a reasonable price based on the wall damage and unprofessional nature of his crew or determine a new plan for repairs. Feeling that we were dealing with an unreasonable person (and concern over the fact that he knows our home address), we paid our bill in full. The wall damage was not repaired. We never received an apology.

They were great. They were very nice. They called us before they arrived at our place. They staff was very courteous and nice. They talked to use and they are very careful with our things. They did great. We have called around a couple of other places because we are new around here as well and then they were booked. We were trying to keep it affordable since we don't want to spend too much. And then we had a friend who use Michiana Movers and he said they were great and that they were really affordable. So we called them and they were free so we went with them. I really liked that they were doing their job and also talking to us. Sometimes, with a moving company, you don't get that. They are just there to do the job and leave.

They are affiliated with a moving company then had another people from Lansing move me. I didn’t pay them anything but I paid the moving company itself. So the check went through to them but I didn’t know where it went after that. The gentleman explained it very well and told me what was involved. He was open to any question I wanted to ask him. He kept in contact with me. It was my first time and it was a great experience. The price was comparable.
