American Kitchen & Bath

I purchased a cultured marble vanity top with a matching custom side splash. The sink and side splash came together in the same box, not ordered or made separately. The side splash came approximately ¼ inch too high. When I contacted American Kitchen and Bath, I was told that the side splash was within their error tolerance and the incorrect size was not their problem. I had to have the contractor, who was installing the sink, sand the side splash down to fit. I paid $56.00 for the custom side splash and then had to pay the contractor to fix it. I also purchased a cultured marble vanity top with a matching custom side splash from a large box store. The side splash cost $35.00 and fit perfectly.

The project started in Feb 2017 and ended Oct 2017. The glass doors had to be ordered four times. The first two were because the doors had a film on them producing a cloudy effect. The other times because they were either ordered incorrectly or installation did not correct a leaking problem. The doors still leak extremely bad. Towels that are put down to stop the water on the floor but are dripping wet all the way to the laundry room. It’s been a complete and total disaster. Lack of communication and lack of urgency made this experience not a pleasant one. I would use extreme caution in using this company for further work.

Terrible, first they miss measured and sold us a design that would not work (they did fix it at no extra cost to me, but it changed the lay out). There were many mistakes they made that held up the project such as, ordered the wrong cabinet, ordered the wrong crown molding twice, did not calculate the right amount of flooring and grout (and I was suppose to have a extra box and a half of tile left over), a design flaw which causes them to order a new cabinet (it was their design fault not the cabinet company), my sink came seriously dented, they did not center my dishwasher between the cabinets and it looked strange (and since I was spending all this money I wanted it to look right and on our design plan it was centered, no one mentioned that one side would have a 3” space and on the other side be right up against the cabinet). Jim the owner did not make things right and has no sense of customer service.

We originally had Jim over to assess our kitchen and bathroom for new cabinets. He provided a quote for both. However, once we decided that we would only purchase the bathroom cabinet from him, his responsiveness and attentiveness to our order greatly diminished. We then had a really awful experience including The quote for our bathroom cabinet changed several times...once because we were no longer getting the kitchen cabinets from him and he "gave us a discount on the bathroom countertop because we were also getting the kitchen cabinets"...but once that fell through, he had to increase the price. Then the quote changed again when we inquired about using different vanity sinks....our original quote included sinks, but we did not like the ones he had to offer. So, when we inquired about the allowance we had for sinks (and that we were willing to pay the difference), he revealed that he was going to use free sinks from a supplier and we had no allowance (unfortunately, this was AFTER the vanity was purchased and in production). So, we purchased our own sinks. He was extremely unresponsive to multiple texts and emails regarding the details of our project. It took over 3 months to order the vanity and, by that time, we were short on time with our house renovation. We did not want to waste time working with another Medallion vendor (we had limited choices in northern Indiana), so we ordered it from him. We ended up working with the countertop company directly because Jim would not respond to our inquiries about delivery and installation once the cabinet was delivered. The Medallion brand cabinet and linen closet we ordered are beautiful...although after installation we realized that we did not have hardware (12 pieces - pulls and knobs). We called and left a message for Jim at American Kitchen and Bath, and we received a TEXT from him that they were not included in the quote he gave us and he was unwilling to throw them in despite all of the problems we had with him and his company. Needless to say, we would order Medallion products again, but would not recommend working with this company.

The contractor was someone that was recommended by A K & B. American Kitchen and Bath had the contractor come back and take care of some issues I had with the tile. (The grout residue had not been cleaned off the tiles.) I was going to do it myself and called A K & B to see if they had a product that would clean the tile. When they found out who the contractor was, they said that they would make sure he came back out to take care of the problem. I had some other issues as well, so I would not use this contractor again.

As I stated above I showed Julie a pic & she worked with it modified it to my eventual space & it looks great. We had 2 walls taken out to expand our Kitchen & dinning room into one big space. We took out the mud room & put the washer & dryer upstairs.. (Apline handled that part.) Julie referred Criag's Carpentry to us & Craig came in & asked to cut a hole in the ceiling to see what we would be in for. He was the only one to do that. As it turned out he ran into 4 furnice air ducts that had to be moved to 3 4 different locations. But Craid did not add to the cost of the quote but by may a few humdred dollars. Yet his man had to do some serious work to get them all relocated. His drywall guy is excellent & does a very nice job. The tile guy is a artist who did our new fabulously large shower. He also worked his artistry on our new dining room floor. He put the most beautiful pattern in the center.. He worked clear up to Monday before Christmas. His business is Unique Finishes He is a master craftsman Highly recommend him too. Anyway Craig was always asking anything else we can do for you. Very polite and trustworthy businessman. He is a dear wonderful person, highly reocommend him. They had to put up with me working from home. They were all most accommodating & kind. If you want professional work & a good price (fair) look to American Kitchens & Bath, Craigs Carpentry & Unique Finishes. All extremely good at what they do. Thank-you!

The whole experience was wonderful. I worked with Julie who was very professional and knew what she was doing. This was a very big and expensive project for me so I was anxious but she helped me every step of the way and kept my budget in mind. I developed a great working relationship with Julie which meant that I felt confident about my choices and decisions every step of the way. I took my time choosing the cabinets etc and Julie patiently helped me price out all my different options until I was satisfied. She also suggested a contractor (Craig) who was wonderful. I kept hearing horror stories about people having their kitchens redone, the projects took forever to complete, things weren't done correctly etc but I experienced none of this.

They got delivered on time, then the contractor installed them. It all went quite well.

American Kitchen and Bath are fantastic. They're also putting in a kitchen floor now, and they will also be installing new kitchen cabinets. They're honest and easy to work with. They have a lot of good ideas. They have a designer there, so you don't have to come up with a new design just by yourself. They don't charge you extra for the designer. The installers are people they trust. They're all good and decent people.

No problems. On-time, on estimate. Outstanding workmanship/installation. Very pleased with the attention to detail.

It all went well, even when we found out the countertop would have to be specially made. Everything was delivered on time and installed when scheduled. Had purchased cabinets from them before for the bathroom several years, and was very satisfied then also.

American Plumbing and Bath was very polite and professional but they were a tad high and we went with another company. The way they do it, is they supply the pictures and everything and then they sent two contractors out here and they each gave us a bid on the installation. Their price was about $500 higher than the company we went with. We liked them, they were on time and they told us what we wanted to know. They had all the information. When they added all the supplies we were getting from American Plumbing and Bath and the installation they came out higher than the other company. One thing I didn't like was dealing with two different people-dealing with the supplier of the fixtures and then dealing with the installer. I didn't like that very well. Their responsiveness was good; they responded right away. They were right on time when they said they'd be here. They were all professional and seemed to know what they were talking about. That was good with me, anyway. I would have them quote me again in the future.

The counter tops have little doubled edges and it's nice. The whole thing is going to be good effect to the house. Everything is great. American Plumbing and Bath had everything. They did any kind of surface I wanted for my kitchen.

They did very well. They promised to finish and put it in before Christmas and they did. I'm real happy with the job they have done. Their price is very competitive but it is well worth it.
