Overall, bad experience. We had our tub and tub surround replaced. We thought the price was fair. However, the house was left a mess with mud tracked all over the house and stairs and the old, broken up tub left in the middle of my garage floor. (Don't most people remove trash when working on a project?) As for the tub, there are a few small scratches on the edges, which I can live with. However, there is a rather large chip in the surround that I didn't notice until I was sitting down in the tub. This chip wasn't brought to my attention and they had to have known they did it when trying to force it into the bathroom (without removing the bathroom door), nor was the trim that had been pulled off of the window frame in the process of removing the tub and had been simply pushed back into place without nailing back onto the frame properly. They had also yanked the vent out of the ceiling and left it dangling by wires. Fortunately I did notice that before handing over the check so it was put back into place by the guy picking up the check. The workers were friendly, but not very professional. Neil, the guy who gave the estimate and picked up the check, clearly just wanted the check. I wouldn't suggest their services. However, if you do decide to hire them, check their work very, VERY carefully before paying them. I am not an overly picky person, but I do value honesty and professionalism. Two things that Riverway Plumbing did not deliver.

Response from Riverway Plumbing
I never got to meet to owner. Our communication was done by email. When I came out to bid her daughter was there. The item we installed was a box store item that the home owner bought. My Employees had there shoe off at the front door. The carpet was not clean from the start. I told the daughter that the tub has been damaged underneath the tub and ask if they want to return it. She asked if it was visible damage I said no. I told her that I would not be responsible for any damage I didn't see. My lesson to myself is not to do work that I have not met.

Second floor bathtub drain developed a leak that ran through the main floor ceiling. So, logged on to "Angie's List," and looked at the reviews because I have never felt confident with the plumbers I have had in the past. Called Neil on Tuesday, 1/22/13, and told him it wasn't an emergency...he could schedule my repair at his convenience. He was available at 9:00 AM, Thursday, 1/24/13 to come and take a look. I warned him that this was a really old house and nothing is where it is supposed to be! I didn't know if a wall or floor had to be removed to access the drain, but there is an access panel to the tub plumbing. I dreaded the mess I might have to deal with (been there before). Neil arrived promptly at 9 AM. He took a look at the drain, found the leak, & said he might have to cut out part of the lower wall and floor. Fortunately, only part of a board blocking access to the drain had to be removed using a reciprocating saw. He tightened the drain connector which had come loose and put everything back together. He did it all in less than an hour and did not leave a mess! I was so relieved and impressed! Past experiences with plumbers have made me very anxious, but not with Neil. He is self assured and explains the problem and resolution very clearly. While he was here, I asked him to look at a plumbing issue that I have put off for years due to the huge quotes I have had. After assessing the rerouting of a drain, he suggested a more feasible solution that will cost considerably less. We scheduled the job for next week, and after all these years, one less thing to worry about. Neil has restored my faith in reputable plumbers! Thank you "Angie's List" for a great resource, and thank you Neil for your great service!

I was very pleased with the service, the punctuality and the integrity of both word and work. I was especially pleased to see the owner personally inspect the job done by two other employers to make sure that it met his expectations. They did great work and he managed the work well. Highly recommend!

I have used this company multiple times for really big issues (water main busted!) to the very small sink and faucet install. They are absolutely wonderful and punctual. They are friendly and don't mind discussing your plumbing with you and even showing you how to do things yourself! I had an employee show me how to flush my own water heater in case I didn't want to call him out for it again. They were extremely reasonable for the water main break giving me an original estimate and then reducing it by a few hundred bucks once they realized the work would be easier than expected! Truly rare! I hope I never have to move out of their service range. My wife and I both love dealing with them.

The entire project went extremely well, staying on budget and on schedule. Neil was great during the initial quote visit willing to take the time to look and discuss various options and approaches. The rough in and basic work went as expected. Neil and his team took the extra effort to make sure the finish and detailed work with the fixtures and cabinets was done so that it showcased the look.
Description of Work: Riverway installed an gas on-demand hot water heater to replace a electric tank hot water heated and installed all the plumbing for a basement finishing project to include two full bathrooms and a set tub area. Riverway had the best price for the entire job and used a top of the line, super high efficiency on-demand heater. Neil worked with us on developing the best approach to the entire installation including equipment and parts use as well working with our current plumbing which includes a recirculation line. Riverway was punctual for all the appointments and installation times and some followup visits to complete the detailed finishing as sinks and showers were installed. Riverway used PEX tubbing which is superior to the hard white plastic piping currently in the house. Neil and the entire Riverway team are professional, courteous and knowledgeable.

I phoned them approx. April 17, and they came out the next morning. I explained in advance that I definitely wanted the outside faucet fixed, and depending on the cost, that I needed kitchen sink leaks fixed. I explained in advance I had a crawlspace to access trouble spot. After investigating the leaks, Neil told me the cost for outside faucet replacement and pipe repairs and I agreed. Then I asked him to look at the leaks in and around the kitchen sink. He did and gave the cost I agreed. He and helper finished the work on both items in good time, approx. 1.5 hours. However, the next morning I thought I heard water leaking in the crawlspace. I phoned Neil around 8:15 am and he showed up at my house at 8:30 AM! He found a leak in a different spot than the original leak and repaired it too. My totals cost for all repairs was $164. I would not hesitate to uses his services in the future. He guarantees his work and is quick and efficient.

Today, November 22, 2011, he was out to discuss a basement leak. At no charge, he diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate for installing a new sump pump etc. Being a great guy and very honest, he also indicated that this was not his specialty, and he suggested that I might also want to consult other specialists.
Description of Work: Recently Neil came out to fix a problem faucet which he installed using a fancy faucet I ordered by mail from Amazon. Unfortunately the faucet was defective and caused some damage. Neil came very promptly to put in the replacement and charged us only minimal hourly rate for the work, which was complicated and difficult in some respects because there is so little space and visual inspection is almost impossible. Once again he helped me explain what was wrong to the fixture company involved. All around he is a great guy on whose judgment I am entirely confident. The biggest job he did for us was to put in a new gas fireplace. What was most remarkable in this case was the trouble he took to install the pipe in a way that was as short as possible and not unsightly. This was hard because there is no crawl space below and virtually no space above, since this living room was originally a garage. Still he managed to get the pipe though the basement and over the ceiling, which was terrific. As usual, the result was problem free.

I found the company on Angie's List and contacted him by phone. And since his quote was reasonable and that the timing he said he could come was the earliest among the few companies that I called, I made an appointment with him. He arrived on time, and did his job very efficiently. He also gave us some useful advices in case a similar or the same problem happens in the future. He also surprised me by being so polite and careful not to wake up the baby in the house all throughout during his work. (He even didn't ring the bell and instead just knocked the door on his arrival, "in case a baby is sleeping in the house", which happened to be the case. He took off his shoes without even asking me if he should have (he probably noticed the shoe rack on the main entrance hall), and his movement was very quiet and efficient at the same time. Overall, I had a very good experience with him and I thought his work was very professional. I would definitely use his service again and recommend his company to other people too.

Neil did a great job! He was the second plumber I had out to fix the specific problems. The first plumber (from a differenct company) that came to my house arrived late, didn't have the proper tools or parts to fix the problems and the estimate to do the work was double the cost of what Neil charged. Neil was prompt, professional and very knowledgeable. The price was very fair as well. I will use Neil in the future for other plumbing needs.
Description of Work: My water heater was leaking at the pressure relief valve and the water hoses for my washer were deteriorating and needed replaced. The washer hoses were very old and could not be removed from the water line due to mineral build up from well water. Neil fixed the leaking pressure relief valve problem on the water heater and replaced the water line valves and the washer hoses.

Neil was timely on his quote, had the best value and cost for the quote, worked with us on recommendations for the plan, and was on time for the work when selected. He was the only one that responded to changes for the work and provided a revised quote. He always followed up on all questions, phone calls and queries. His assistant Dan was punctual, worked within our schedule and did excellent work. Liked the preferred choice of Pex and Riverway's expertise with condensing on-demand water heaters. The work was accomplished on time, with excellent workmanship, and overall desired results.

I came to rely on Neil's advice on how to deal with problems: what procedures would avoid future problems without adding unnecessary expense. In particular he not only put in the new hot water heater, but he vented properly, something that previous plumbers had not done. He knew how to seal off pipes such that if the seal had to be removed, that would not cause damage. Most impressively, he found someone to repair a cracked tub, thereby saving us a couple of thousand dollars. In short this is an intelligent guy, who does a good job and also is prompt and pleasant to deal with. New homeowners may also be pleased to note that he worked with us to get reimbursement from the insurance that came with the house.

Our shower wouldn't turn all the way off and had a drip stream. I called at about 4:30 PM and he was able to come out right then. I told him I only had about a 20 minute window, but that I did want to try to get this stream shut off. He showed up just when he said he would and was able to stop the drip. Given that it was a very short visit, he indicated I could call him back if it started again in the next month and he would help me out. I appreciated not having a rush charge, and he was very friendly.

We called four companies for estimates--two did not answer their phones, one showed up nearly an hour late, and Riverway Plumbing came on time and was very friendly and professional. The Riverway Plumbing workers are so nice! When the plumber who arrived late showed up, Riverway even helped him to fix his vehicle that was leaking fluids! Helping out someone who is your competition definitely impressed us and proved how honorable Riverway Plumbing truly is. My husband dug up our yard to expose the leaking pipe. Riverway asked him to dig a little deeper to expose the pipe more fully and estimated the job at $240. We gave them the go ahead and they were back the next morning promptly to fix the problem. After they fixed the leaking pipe and installed the shut off valve they checked to see if the meter was still running. The meter was still indicating water running, which is how they discovered the leaking spigot. They went to retrieve a part to fix the new problem and did so quickly. The entire process took just under 2.5 hours and with the addition of the shut off valve and spigot leak we were very happy to learn that the final cost was just $300--Only $60 over the estimate to fix the initial problem! Now we have no leaks and have no fear of another $70 water bill! Thank you Riverway Plumbing! I will recommend you any day!
Description of Work: The professionals at Riverway Plumbing removed and replaced a pipe underground near our house that had sprung a leak. They also installed a shut off valve in our crawlspace since the only previous valve was at the roadway. They also discovered a spigot that was leaking that we had known about and fixed that as well.
