One of my fuses kept blowing, causing the circuit to my kitchen not to function. My janitor called Bob Kowaleski at Fair Electric since he had worked on my building before, and two days later he came, figured out that there was a short somewhere in the line between my fuse box and my unit, and temporarily switched the bad circuit to my air conditioner line (since it was October and the AC was not being used), so I could use my kitchen. I paid him and we made an appointment for him to return 10 days later to complete the job and replace the bad line between the fuse box and my unit. The morning he was supposed to come, he called and said he was ill and would call me back when he was feeling better. He did not call as promised, and I waited more than two weeks before calling him, but I could not get through as his voice mail box was full. This continued for the next month -- I could not get through at all as his voice mail was always full. After that I could occasionally leave a message asking when he could come, but the messages were never returned -- I left at least a dozen messages over the next few months, with no reply. 4 1/2 months later in March I did get through in person and he said he'd call the next week to set a date to do it that week, but he never called. A month later I asked my janitor to call him again, and he got through right away and was told I'd be contacted the next week to set up a date, but once again he did not call me. At this point it's been six months and I'll be needing to use my AC soon, so I have given up and will use someone else. Fair Electric is not reliable or professional -- it is completely unacceptable to refuse to contact customers for six months, leaving them with no idea as to when or even if you plan to do the work. If he didn't want to do the job, he should have told me so I could have someone else do it, and if he did plan to do it, even if it was in the distant future, he should have told me when he would be able to do it. Why he thinks it's acceptable business practice to simply never contact his customers or return their calls so that they have no idea what is going on is mystifying to me -- it's totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

He is very professional as well as friendly. I contacted him last week and he came early this morning to do the work. He was on time, efficient, competent, good at explaining what problems there were. He is very easy to work with and inspires confidence.
Description of Work: He checked all wiring in the entryway and stairway of our building, found some original wiring that was aged about 80 years, changed to new wiring, installed 5 new ceiling light fixtures, checked those in place, and also checked wiring for sconces and electrical outlets. He works in Chicago, including here in Hyde Park.
