Description of Work: I had them install a furnace in my house that did not have one previously installed. They had to install duct work under the house's crawlspace. They did a very poor job of cutting out the holes and putting the duct work in. I have owned 5 homes previously and none of them have ever looked like this. The previous ones looked professionally done, the register covers fit smoothly. Some register covers don't even fit on right and have to be partially closed. I have a drill hole in my oak floor where they were trying to find where to put the cold air return, but missed. Without fail, every year that I have had this furnace I have had to call a repair service to come out and service it at least 1 to 2 times a year because something has gone wrong with it. I don't know if I got a bad furnace or what, but it costs me money every year. It either quits heating or it quits cooling. Luckily we have a wood burning stove and a wall air conditioner that I can use when this unit quits working. I will never use this company again and I would never recommend them to anyone. You are more than welcome to send someone out from your company to see the work they did. The wood floors have all been replaced, except in the master bedroom. We also have cats, the duct work is the flimsy stuff, so the cats actually got into that and were coming up through the cold air vent. Not happy with this company.

When I first called to schedule for the furnace to be put in, it was slow. We ended up having a snow storm and then work had to be halted altogether. The snow storm came after the projected time they told me they would have it in, I didn't order any extra firewood, and had to go out and buy numerous room heaters to stay warm. They finally finished the installation in January of 2005. I rented the house for two years and traveled, I cannot say that the problems I was told about were accurate, but from 12/2006 until now, I have had nothing but problems every year. Furnace running, but no heat coming out, just cold air. Air conditioning froze up numerous times. It actually took a call to another repair company to get it fixed so that we didin't have problems again. Cats coming in through the cold air return. If my husband or myself did our jobs in the manner this job was done, someone would have died and we would have been sued for malpractice. We will never use this company again.
Description of Work: Installation of new furnace with central air, including installing all ductwork on existing house. In the past 7 years I have had to call for repairs at least once and sometimes 2 times a year since installation. I have never had so many problems with a furnace and ductwork. The heat ducts were put in areas that were within a foot of all doors and windows, hence all the heat goes right out the areas where there is the most heat loss. The duct openings are so sloppily done and unprofessional that it looks like someone who doesn't do this type of work put them in. I have had more problems with bugs, mice and a cat coming into the house by way of the duct work. The ductwork is not all metal, but is an aluminum hose type material that is easily torn by animals. We have had to have that replaced once already. The ductwork is in the crawlspace of the house, and small animals find a way in. The ductwork is not flush with the wood floor, large gaps, left everything with a very unfinished look. I've owned houses for 35 years, and I have never seen this type of work done. Our furnace and air conditioning have quit more than once in the past 7 years and when he comes out to 'fix' it, it usually takes someone else from another company to actually find the real problem. This furnace is a constant drain on the budget. I will never use this company again, and highly recommend that anyone who needs a furnace finds another heating and airconditioning company that installs furnaces on a professional level, instead of calling themselves professionals and installing it like Joe Blow down the block. If anyone would like to see their work, they are welcome to come and look at it.

Response from Danny's Heating & Air Conditioning
this was an installation of a new packaged unit heat pump on pre-existing house. time line for this job 12-14-2004 2 of 4 quotes given for job to be done. After 2 additional quotes the price agreed upon included flex pipe to cut down on installation cost for the homeowner . A savings of $800.00 was achieved for the homeowner. 12-17-2004 job started register openings cut and material list taken 12-20-2004 received materials, crew returned to work on job 12-21-2004 crew returned on December 21,2004 Southern Ind was hit with a major snow and ice storm of 33 inches. Roads impassable for days. 12-27-2004 crew returned to job 12-30-2004 job completed 01-01-2005 invoice sent 01-11-2005 payment in full in 2005 no service calls were received 11-01-2006 received call that the heat pump unit was making a noise. Dan responded to call within 24 hours. We did have to replace the blower motor wheel within the first 2 years of installation. There was no charge for this, labor and materials considered under warranty. Normally labor is 1 year warranty. in 2007 no service calls received in 2008 no service calls received 04-27-2009 received call, responded and removed mouse nest and repaired mouse damaged wiring in heat pump unit, also repaired damaged return air flex pipe. Board covering crawl space opening not secured, allowing animals easy access to area where duct is. Service call charge and paid in full. 12-15-2009 received call, responded and repaired flex pipe in crawl space again. On this trip found board covering access to crawl space on the ground allowing full access for aninals. Not sure what kind of animal did damage or what is considered by homeowner to be a small animal. Hole in duct was probably basketball size. Also on this trip informed homeowner opening needed to be secured to prevent animals' access. Also noticed on this call 2 full blocks under porch open to crawl space, probably for vents, but had never been installed and were left open. Informed homeowner of this also. Service call charge and paid in full at this time. Also in 2009 received call for what they said blower motor not working, was working properly upon my arrival. A few days later they called again and after talking to him (this time) realized it was actually the condenser fan motor going into defrost cycle. I described what happens in defrost cycle and asked him to watch it for a day or two and see if this is what was going on. Did not hear back so assumed it was alright and normal defrost cycle. 04-21-2010 received call, responded and replaced capacitor. Service call charge and paid in full at this time. 06-15-2020 received call unit not cooling. Responded and found no filter in filter location. Evaporator coil totally plugged with cat hair, lent, and papers that had been pulled through return. Cleaned evaporator coil, checked freon was okay, checked temp split was okay. Finished and tried to explain to homeowner importance of the filter and as with everything there is some responsibilty that the homeowner has for the care of their units, such as filter and crawl space openings. This was the last ime we heard from this customer so we assumed everything was running smooth. Registers are typically located under windows and close to doors to catch unconditioned air as it comes in. This is a technique used in the industry for years. We did use a reciprocating saw to cut the openings in floors because they were hardwood floors. This makes a rougher cut than circular saw but there is less risk of major damage to floors. The "aluminum hose type material" is called flex pipe also used and accepted through out the industry. This was agreed on to ahcieve final price for job. Cats or other small animals cannot come in through the cold air return if they did not have access to crawl space and a filter was in place. This is were the homeowner has to be responsible for normal preventive maintenance. On the last call I did take my employee with me, more as a witness than anything else. I have never taken anyone from another company. There was only one problem that involved the functioning of the system in the first 5 years, which was under warranty and no charge for labor. As a constant drain on their budget, since installation in 2004 there has been a total $431.71 in invoices for Danny's Heating. Three of the service calls could have been prevented by the homeowner doing their part. One question I have if they have replaced the duct by another company how can anyone come see it. We take pride in our work and if anyone would like a reference please call the office they can be provided. We have responded to all her calls within a resonable time (24 hours) and I really do believe my crew did a good job even with the weather conditions, and snow and mud in the crawl space. We strive for customer satisfation but in this case I do not think it could have been achieved. I have responded to her allegations and stand behind my work and our professionalism. All information is recorded in our accounting system. Thank you Pam and Danny Walton at Danny's Heating and Air Conditioning.
