Brad's Lawncare and Power Washing

I hired Brad's Lawncare and Power Washing to mulch several planting beds around my house, and edge the lawn around the driveway. I paid the owner, Brad Taylor, $325 in advance to “cover the cost of mulch”. We set a day in the following week for him to do the work, but he failed to show up and didn't call. When I contacted him, he stated he had been too busy, and promised to show up the following week. He again failed to show and again didn't call. It wasn't until I threatened to cancel the deal that he finally showed up yet another week later. When Taylor came to the door and said he was done, I made the major mistake of not going around and inspecting the job in detail. Rather, I gave the front yard a quick look from the front porch and paid him the other $325. Later, I discovered that the lawn around the driveway had not been edged, and one planting bed at the rear of the house had not been mulched. Moreover, he and his crew had cut into the TV/internet cable, which I had specifically warned them about beforehand, and they had left trash in the unmulched planting bed. I contacted Taylor about this, and he responded that he would “check it out”. Once more, he never showed up and never called. Finally, we told him his services were no longer needed, and asked for a refund of $100 to cover the cost of doing the unfinished work ourselves. Taylor next responded that he'd never agreed to edge the lawn – the first time we'd heard that, and even though the deal had been made in the presence of our neighbors (for whom he also no longer works). What his excuse for missing and entire planting bed was he never said. So, he refused to complete the work he was paid to do, and refused to refund us for the work not done. My advice is to stay as far away from Brad's Lawncare and Powerwashing as possible. If you do decide to take a chance, make sure you have all the work and the costs in writing. His unreliability and unprofessionalism are off the charts. And remember, when you read his response to this, we stand to gain nothing by this review. It is the truth.
