Description of Work: My sons laptop computer monitor had issues. It would show the desktop page and duplicate again it again about 3 inches from the right. After doing this, it would shut down. My son lives with my mom, his grandmother ,and as a Christmasgift we wanted to repair this computer while he was working in Ohio. It turns out I took a faulty power cord with me to Wildcat and not the correct one when I dropped it off. Wildcat seemed the think the power cord (only) was the issue and said it powered up in back. with his own cord. The screen image was still doubled. We requested if the computer couldn't be fixed that we retrieve my sons Itunes songs which he had paid for. The next day we were called saying the computer was fixed. We asked if the doubled screen went away and he said yes. That when he reloaded the new operating system, the problem went away. As we were leaving he then said there was still a sliver of an issue with the screen. He had already said it was fixed but I thought a sliver was better than it was and we paid $135 for the new operating system. I had tipped my son that we were repairing his computer. He told me he had a good power cord but wondered maybe if the one he had could be the problem. We bought the one Wildcat suggested and paid a total of $180. Since it was a gift, my mom wrapped it immediately and put it under the Christmas tree. This was Dec 23. On Christmas Even when my family celebrates, my son opened the package. He turned the computer on and it went almost immediately to the split screen it had before. The next day it shut down and didn't go back on. It was the day of the blizzard so we could not take it back that day. We took it back to Wildcat on the second day and wanted a refund but Mr. H. refused accusing us of dropping it, or loosing the plug. No refund. He has since refused our calls and claims he is sympathetic but will not refund us. He claimed it was a new problem despite my son saying to his face it was the same one. He refunded my son only for the power cord of $45 (which does no good on a dead computer) but we are out for the rest. No attempt at all to satisfy our disappointment. I am retired and on a fixed income but it appears Wildcat needs the money more than we do, Attempts were made to contact the owner and we have contacted the Better Business Bureau. It appears we will not be refunded but I wanted to warn the public. I have also contacted Angies list here.

Customer brought in a 8 to 9 year old laptop with a power adapter with frayed wires hanging out of it. I was able to power on the laptop on my bench with my power adapter. The laptop powered up, but the screen was distorted due to a driver issue. I offered to try and reload the OS, and if the reload didn’t fix it, I wouldn’t charge them for the $135 OS reload with data backup. The computer ran the Windows 7 installation without incident, and ran updates overnight without a problem. The only issue was there was small; less than 1/8” line on the right side of the screen along the border of the screen. This symptom was very common for a laptop of this age, and I didn’t recommend fixing it based on its age. I also sold them him a universal power adapter due to the condition of the existing power adapter. The computer was brought back 1 week later, and wouldn’t power on at all. The power jack on the laptop was now loose/damaged, and wouldn’t power on at all and the customer demanded his money back. The laptop was not in the same condition, and if the laptop had powered on, and the problem that I fixed was repeatable, The laptop was totally dead now, and not in the condition it was brought to me originally. I would have fixed it again free of charge. I did refund him the money for the $45 power adapter. If you take a car to an auto mechanic for a tune up, and a week later the transmission goes out, the auto mechanic is not going to assume responsibility for the failed transmission. This is the same situation. The customer has since harassed my wife, filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau (which ruled in my favor), and yet he continues to demand that I be responsible for anything that has gone wrong with a 8 to 9 year old laptop.

Mel and his staff "brought back to life" my home main desktop computer after I tried and failed many times to get it running correct. Mel did the repairs, tuned it up and offered many helpful suggestions. Also got a refurbed laptop for my home. Mel made sure I only bought what I needed and the price and what it can do, I could not be happier. One of the best tech companies I have ever worked with. I would recommend them to everyone. At the store and they make "house calls" too.
Description of Work: Had my home desktop computer repaired and tuned. Also purchased a restored and updated used laptop for my home.
