Very good overall. The technician showed up when scheduled and performed the maintenance check. He worked a couple hours so I assume that he did a thorough job. I have had very few problems with my units over the years so I assume that my twice yearly checkups are preventing problems.
Description of Work: Performed fall maintenance check. Checked my two furnaces and humidifiers. We have a service agreement with them.

I was so pleased with the fast service ARS provided us when we noticed water leaking out from under a baseboard in our hall closet. This happened on the morning of the Indy 500 (Memorial Day weekend), so I didn't expect them to be able to respond quickly. However, they were at our home within 90 minutes of my call, and the problem was fixed within 2 hours. The employee was courteous, honest and thorough. I thought the cost for him to cut the drywall to find the leak was high (next time, we'll do the cutting ourselves), but overall I was happy with the speed and quality of work performed. I've used this company for other needs such as AC and furnace checks, and they have always provided good service.

Well, the tub would not hold water even after the first guy completed the job. The second plumber came out and determined that the apparatus was broken and unable to operate as it should. He gave a day and time in which he would return and complete the job and he was very prompt and did an excellent job.

It was much more expensive than quoted over the phone. The workman was very helpful and seemed knowledgeable. However, within a few weeks of the ceiling being put in, there was a water spot that just kept growing right under where the line was laid. I contacted ARS, and they sent someone out to check it. They had to cut into the ceiling, and they confirmed that the line wasn't wrapped properly. They assured me that it would be repaired free of charge. It took several phone calls to get them to respond again. Over the next couple of months, they sent three more people to ''look'' at the problem. One of them did re-wrap the line correctly, and it stopped the leak. Finally, someone was sent from their home services dept. that said they would replace the ceiling. It has now been over three months since the lines were re-wrapped, and my ceiling still isn't fixed. I have been told it will happen within the next couple of weeks.
Description of Work: They made the A/C line set longer so a ceiling could be put in the basement without the lines sticking out. They also repaired the A/C Freon leak.

Air-Trol sent Jeff Serafin out to speak with me about my heating and cooling dilemma. He arrived on time and was very professional. Jeff is one of those individuals that you like the moment that you meet him. He took a look at my current system and sized it perfectly without all of the computer models and calculations (years of experience). He spoke with me candidly about the advantages and disadvantages of the different efficiency ratings in gas furnaces and heat pumps. He configured a system that met my budget and got me the efficiencies and tax credits that I required. The installers were great. They wore protective shoe covers and left my basement cleaner than it was when they came. I asked one of the installers to check some ductwork in my crawl space and he did it without hesitation (the space was so small we didn't think we were going to get him out). Later I found that my installers are the same installers featured in Carrier's installation videos.
Description of Work: I live in a house that was built in 1946. It was built by a family that owned their own Heating and Cooling Company. My furnace was the size of a small car and operated at about 45% efficiency. Air-Trol removed my original gas furnace that had been converted from oil to gas in the 60's. They also replaced my 1980's 8 Seer air conditioner.

There were two installers who were both very polite and professional. They both worked very diligently until the job was done. When they were finished, they explained how the furnace worked, as well as the humidifier and the programmable thermostat. We had to have another technician come out a few days later to correct a very small problem with the water pump which was plugged into an extension cord rather than a dedicated outlet. The technician corrected the problem promptly and free of charge.
Description of Work: ARS removed our existing furnace and replaced it with a new one. They also installed a humidifier and a programmable thermostat, as well as cleaned out the ducts.

Good. We have preventive maintenance checks on both of our furnaces and both of our AC units. With an annual contract, the cost is only $62.00 per visit, per unit for a total of $248.00 per year. In addition to the normal cleaning and preventive checks done, I asked the technician if he would go into the crawl space to check for any leaks in the duct work. We had a slight musty odor that I felt may be coming from an open duct in the crawl space. The technician crawled around (as I watched and discussed what he was seeing) for about 10 to 12 minutes to make sure we had no problems.
Description of Work: Scheduled routine servicing of 2 furnace units. The serviceman also went into the crawl space to check duct work to ensure no leaks.

We were first on the days list. The gentleman arrived just after 9am. (He gave his name, but it was a month ago and I've forgotten he did not put it on the bill.) He was very nice and conscientious, put covers over his shoes when entering the house. I suspected it was the valve, but he made sure it was not any less expensive item first, which I appreciated. He subtracted the $15 Angie's List coupon. Offered a service contract but was not pushy about it. Overall I felt good about the transaction.
Description of Work: In the words of the technician: Found bad gas valve. Replaced Gas valve. Cleaned and checked heat exchangers. Heat exchangers are rusty but seem to be OK. Saw no visual signs of holes or cracks. Pulled and cleaned burners and pilot assembly. Cycled system. All seems OK at this point. Air-trol's regular price for the gas valve was $363. Diagnostic charge $88.

Job 1: Called ARS due to very slow draining. ARS scheduled a time, but also called right before they arrived. Very punctual in keeping the appointment. They came out, found the problem, & cleared the drain. Job 1: They were very clean with their appearance & shoes, & took great care to clean up after their work. They also recommended a product to use on a regular basis to help prevent build-up in the drains. I was able to use discount from Angie's List. Job 2: ARS had to come back out within their 90-day guarantee due to slowness of drain returning. I was very pleased that getting them to honor the warranty was completely hassle free. The plumber explained why my drain returned to slow-moving & explained another (& better) procedure as an option that would clear it almost to the point of completely clean. This procedure carried a 6-month guarantee. Since my original visit was no charge, I also opted for the additional procedure, which only cost the difference of the 2.
Description of Work: Job 1: Unclogged main house drain connecting to main city drain ($135). Job 2: Came out to re-snake drain, since still under 90-day warranty ($85).

The technician arrived promptly and provided explanation of his work and answered all our questions. The technician performed a thorough check on our furnace. We also had some hail damage to the outside unit and had been told that we needed to get it repaired/replaced. The Air-Trol person assured us the outside unit does not need to be replaced or repaired. I appreciated his honesty! We will call this company in the future if needed.
Description of Work: They did a winter tune-up on the furnace. They checked the evaporator coil, condensation drain pain, fan motor, heat exchanger, gas connections, flue/inducer assembly, burner operation, filter, outside unit, etc.

I was alarmed to wake up one morning to discover our sewer pipes had backed up into our basement. ARS came out within a few hours of my call to address the problem. They were punctual, reasonable, and the service technician discussed potential reasons why the pipes may have become blocked. The company provided helpful answers to questions about our long-term options, but was not pushy in the slightest. We would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Our sewer pipes had backed up into our basement. ARS Service Express came out and roto-rootered the pipes to clean them out and remove the source of the backup.

John, the cameraman, was very helpful in explaining what the problem was and how to fix it. We were thankful they didn't have to dig up the driveway and yard to replace the pipe, but instead only dig two holes. The work was done in two days and the pipe is resistant to the tree roots now.
Description of Work: Tree roots were blocking the sewer line from the house to the street and it was backing up. ARS started by snaking the line, but determined it was blocked. Then they sent a camera in the line to determine where the blockage was. It was under the sidewalk about fifty feet from the house. They dug two holes, 6 feet deep, and did a ''pipe burst'' to destroy the old clay pipe and insert a new one. They had to break apart 2 squares of concrete on the sidewalk and replace that after the pipe was in place.

We had a very good experience with this company. All of their employees were courteous and answered any questions we had. They explained every step before they did it and made sure to talk to us when a problem came up. They cleaned up after themselves. Were very patient and cautious when the children were around! When digging the trench they were very careful about the rest of our yard and gardens; used tarps for the dirt which kept our neighbor's yard from being torn up. Great job on replacing panels of the sidewalk and relaying the bricks in the street (historic district). All around great job.
Description of Work: Installed new sewer line from house to main line under street. Installed new water line from house to street. While here they also replaced water pipes for basement and first floors.
