We called ARS Service Express and were told we would be on standby and someone would be out yet that day. Doug came out, diagnosed that we needed a new thermostat on the furnace. He was very professional and took care of the problem in a timely manner. The Angie's List coupon saved us the service call of $85. We would use this company again.

Description of Work: At about midnight I was getting ready to go to bed. It was very cold in my house so I looked at the thermostat and it had dropped a lot. I tried to change it, but nothing worked. I called ARS and they said they would have someone out within a half hour. The guy came out within the half hour and put a new igniter on the furnace. This was done all within an hour!

 + -1 moreThey came out quickly and gave an estimate, answered my questions, and informed me of my choices. There was a more expensive option that wouldn't have required duct work, but the estimator recommended the cheaper model for our needs. We called back a few days later and set up an appointment to have it installed; they came out on time, took just a couple of hours to install it, and it seems to be working great! No problems with the service, they were nice and very willing to answer any questions, and cleaned up the mess from the installation.
Description of Work: Air-Trol installed a small bypass humidifier to humidify our whole house.

 + -1 moreThe service was good from beginning to end; however, the price was extremely high. Because our basement flooded when our old sump pump malfunctioned, we decided to proceed with ARS despite the reservations we had on their quote. After they left, we had the opportunity to research what a competitor would have charged for the same job. Unfortunately, our concerns were valid as we found an "A" rated company that was willing to perform the same work for $295. When I brought this to ARS's attention, their response was that they had such a high overhead that they needed to charge these types of prices. In the future, I will definitely call a company other than ARS that is willing to provide competitive prices.

They are also polite. Different gentleman usually come out each time and all have been polite and their work has been satisfactory.

 + -1 moreOnce denied preferred service by ARS, I found a company to repair the unit the same evening.
Description of Work: I had been a customer for over 20 years and had two heat pumps with service contracts. Last fall the unit for our lower level stopped working and I was told a tech couldn't come out for emergency service "because I was not a preferred customer." I had not yet renewed the annual service contract after the scheduled maintenance the previous month. Due to cold weather, I needed to have the unit repaired immediately, and called another company. Since that incident, ARS has sent me two offers to renew my service contract; I called their customer service and explained what happened and why I am no longer a customer of theirs. I just joined Angie's List last month and decided to let others know that ARS is NOT a company I will every use again. ($250)

 + -1 moreHe worked very efficiently and he was competent. He knew exactly what he was doing and where to put what. He told me in advance how much he thought this would all cost which I thought was very nice of him so that I didn't faint when I saw the bill! It was reasonably priced.
Description of Work: On January 17th, Manuel tapped into the water line in my basement and ran it from the basement to the crawl space to the outside of the house. I wanted a hose on the other side of the house. He said he would use a special kind of pipe, not copper, a new kind that would expand without breaking, so I said OK. He had to do a lot of soldering work and he did an excellent job. He showed me where he would put the spigot specifically so that he did not have to drill into my house. He also suggested to me to add some tabs to my hot/cold water handles. You turn those left or right so that your handles don't freeze.

 + -1 moreAmazing experience! I got home from work on a very cold day at 5:30 pm and realized immediately that the furnace wasn't working. Called ARS and was told we would be put on stand-by. The operator also told me to get online and find a coupon to wave the service call fee of about $80. At about 5:45, we got a call saying that there was a repair truck in our area. The truck arrived about 5 minutes later. Service technician Jason immediately diagnosed the problem, removed the part and showed me the short in the element. He quickly replaced the new part, accepted the coupon I found online and was gone by 6:15!!! Jason was very knowledgeable and patient with my daughter, my dog and my questions.
Description of Work: Replaced ignition plate in gas furnace.
