I bought a sink and two faucets. They charged me $700.00 to install these three items. I have spoken with several people in the business and said they completely overcharged me. I have spoken to the manager at ARS twice and he just wanted to give me $100.00. I did not agree with this and he came back to me and said he would give me $125.00. I again said that I will pay $75.00 an hour but he did not like that. I told him I was going to report him and he said he didn?t care and could rebutt anything I put out there. I also bought a new furnace according to them because they said it was causing the fuse to blow. So I did buy a new one. The same problem happened and my fuse kept blowing. They did come out a second time with the manager and other co worker. They said it was a wire that was hanging inside the heat pump that kept blowing the fuse. So I never needed to spend the $2500.00 to replace the old one in the first place.

Response from ARS / Rescue Rooter Indiana
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for using ARS/RESCUE ROOTER. Excellent service and complete customer satisfaction always remain our top priority. In response to your complaint at work performed on September 29, 2009, our technician Andy gave a quote which you accepted and authorized by signature and all work was completed per agreement and is functioning correctly. On October 1, 2009 we received your call that you felt the price was too expensive. We reviewed our prices and they were correct per our flat rate book. Due to our technician’s efficiency we chose to offer a discount of $125.52 which you declined so we have decided to stick to the original agreement. Unfortunately ARS cannot allow customers to dictate our labor prices. We have flat rate pricing which is designed to protect our customers from the jobs that take longer than anticipated. In this case it did not, however if the job would have taken longer to complete ARS would not have added any additional charges for the extra time. This keeps the burden on ARS/Rescue Rooter to train our professional technicians to complete jobs with-in allowed time. Customers should not have to pay for on job training due to the lack of technical ability. As far as the new installation of the furnace we were unaware of any problems with the unit. Our records show that everything was taken care of with the unit on January 16th, 2003. We apologize for the inconvenience she experienced with our company.

They gave me an estimate at the time. They also told me if the problem existed further out the cost would have split up between me and the neighbor. I gave them authorization to dig a hole and that I would make payment for that. I was never directly asked as to how I was going to pay for it. I was asked to fill out credit information assuming that they were going to run a credit check on me to make sure I was not a dead beat. While they were doing the initial work, they told me that they needed to go out further into the street to resolve the neighbors problem which would cost more money. They came by with another estimate which I authorized them to proceed and I was still not asked how I was going to pay for it. It was an expense that they would only go forward if the neighbor could make an equal payment. It was discovered that the neighbor couldn't make the payment so the work was halted. My son told me I needed to put a clean out drain which would take an additonal $200. From that point he was supposed to come by and give me a revised bill and some chemicals to run down the drain to help work on the tree roots in the drain. I wanted him to mark the two original estimates as void and give me the revised amount so that I could pay him. The next thing that happend I received a new credit card with $6,500 credit limit and found out that this credit card had been opened up in my name before the work was done. I went to ARS office in person to attempt to pay them and mark previous estimates as void as well as to cancel credit card as an error on their part so that it wouldn't hurt my credit when the card is cancelled. They said they had several different amounts on their computer and wasn't sure which amount is owed. Told me I had to come back in a day so that they could sort out what I owed. The plumber came to my house the same evening and voided the previous two estimates, gave me an invoice and I wrote him a check. I re-emphasized that they need to get the credit card cancelled and not to mention it was at the customers request because that would hurt my score that they needed to get it removed. 10 more days go by and I haven't heard anything from the plumbing company. I contacted them again and they were rude with me when I was trying to get them to take care of the credit situation and I was told that they would get it taken care. Another week goes by and I still haven't heard back from them. I just found out they have $4,400 pending on the credit card that they opened up for me.
Description of Work: Out by the sidewalk they had to dig down and take a look in our drainage to see if there is any broken tiles or blocakge that would be preventing flow to the street sewer. The neighboring property was having the issue, so they had to decide if the problem was existing just with the neighbors house or was with my house as well or just where the drainage pipes meet up in the middle.

Response from ARS / Rescue Rooter Indiana
Dear Member: We apologize for the confusion during your service call with ARS/RESCUE ROOTER. During the initial decision of the estimate to repair the customers sewer line the camera technician offered to finance the ob as an option to pay for the services. The customer indicated she wanted to finance and filled out the credit application at that time which ARS ran and got approval thru the finance company. The account is NOT a credit card but a line of credit with a financial institution. Upon completion of the job the customer then decided to pay by check and ARS called and cancelled the credit line at the customers request. Again we apologize for the confusion and delay in getting this information to the customer. We are notifying the customer in writing to inform her that the account has been closed. If there are any other concerns feel free to contact our Customer Care Department.

The young fellow who came out was here for about 3 hours and he did an absolutely excellent job. I also sent in a card to let the company know what a good guy he was. The type of faucet that he put in was new to me. He explained everything in depth and answered any question that I had. I guess the only thing that I was scared about was the blow torch that he was using, because I?d never seen anybody use a blow torch before. However, he did it with such precision that there were no scars on the wall. He knew what he was doing. He was trying to get everything straightened out because the plumbers that I had hired several years ago to put in a faucet didn?t put in the correct type of faucet. The price was expensive, but he had to pull out a lot of lines and he was working right next to electric lines which really scared me. If he was scared, he didn?t show it. I had piping in the garage and offered to let him use that so that it would match up with the piping that was already down there but he had brought his piping anyways. He moved a bunch of pipes in order to get everything lined up correctly.
Description of Work: A faucet had burst because of the winter and I didn’t even realize it until I started to put the hose in the line. I used ARS Plumbing to have that fixed. They put in a new type of faucet that you don’t have to cover up in the winter or anything like that. It allows free flow of any water that may be backed up in the line.

Their service was great although I thought that they were a little over-priced. There was an air lock in the sump pump that was caused because there was supposed to be a weevil hole drilled into the sump pump. The original installer didn?t do that, and that was what caused the air lock, and that was why the sump pump stopped working. The person who came out just drilled the hole that needed to be put in there to begin with, and it has been working fine. Even though the sump pump wasn?t under warranty, they didn?t charge me because the person who had originally installed it didn?t do the job right. I was really impressed by that. The first time when they replaced the sump pump, they disposed of the old one.

The last time I used their services was on 11th of June to replace a TXV valve in my air conditioner. I will be using them again to clean my furnace later on. They have been really helpful. I initiated a service agreement with them when I moved into this house in August. I set up the service agreement to try to get my heating and air conditioner serviced properly. I keep postponing the date of renewal of the service agreement, so that I can really get better use of it. They have also been very helpful in suggesting as to how far I can move the dates. I haven?t compared their prices with any other company and that?s why I feel that it?s average.

Sherri (sp) took my call and was very informative, friendly, and professional. She explained everything in detail about how their weekend service worked and welcomed me "to the ARS family". When I called to cancel, she was once again very friendly and thanked me for the call.
Description of Work: I called for service on a Sunday because our basement sink had filled up with water (or had simply been stopped up while the washer was emptying - not sure). They sent out an expert to give an estimate for installing brand new heating and air conditioning systems. He came out and told us that our old furnace was far too large and that we needed something smaller to be more efficient. We discussed everything and ended up taking their advice only to find out that the house was completely uncomfortable with the new system. After the installation we received a heating bill that was twice of what it should have been. After looking into some things we found that there was a large two foot by three foot hole in the duct work under the house that they had not found during the installation. When they came back out they told us that we would need to pay another eighteen hundred dollars to have all of the duct work done and after months of refusing to pay it and a lot of effort they agreed to fix it at no cost to us. A year later we were required to have them come out to check everything to keep our extended warranty and they left saying that everything was fine. When they left I thought I smelled a gas leak and they came back out and could not find a hint of a gas leak. A couple of weeks later we received a bill for the service call which was very frustrating. We were having a yard sale and a neighbor came into my home and smelled the gas. We went downstairs and found the leak ourselves. We discovered that with less than half a turn the pipe would have fallen off. We were able to tighten everything back up ourselves however I was amazed that they missed such a blatant problem. I would never use ARS Rescue Rooter Air-Trol again in the future. They were always punctual and the price was excellent, however the overall experience was terrible.

Our experience has been mixed, and we are not planning to use this company again. Pros: *The annual maintenance is good enough, and easy enough to schedule. *The technicians - when you actually get one - are friendly and competent. Cons: * Experience of 6/23 - we called at 8am to request service for an air conditioner that suddenly was not working. They said they were on "stand by" and had no appointments. (At 8 AM???). I told them we had an almost-90 woman living with us for whom the heat was dangerous, and that we needed service as quickly as possible. (Because I needed to be home for the service, and because she was not able to be left alone, I could not take her to a hotel room). And I told them we had the annual service agreement which was said to mean priority scheduling. So they promised service that day, on a stand-by basis. I took vacation time from work, and sat with my cell phone AND my home phone all day because they said they would call both telephone numbers. I called every few hours, verifying they would be there that day, verifying my phone numbers, reminding them of my elderly relative with us. At 8pm they called my cell and the touch screen locked up which it does at times in cold or hot weather (look into this if you are considering a touch screen cell phone). I was able to return the call within seconds, though. First the woman said they had called to tell me they were moving us to the next day's standby. I told her I had called repeatedly, and had been promised service today - and that I had an elderly woman who needed air conditioning. She talked to someone, returned and said it was because I had "not been there for the call" which was a change of story. I reminded her that I called back within seconds, that I had called repeatedly that day and been promised service that day each time, that they told me they would call BOTH numbers - the primary and secondary, that my cell had locked up possibly due to the heat, and all the other details. She went back and forth to the dispatcher, and after about 20 minutes of begging and pleading, she did put me back on the list, with the understanding it was the end of the list and it could be in the middle of the night. The good conclusion was the tech did get here late in the evening, and fixed the air conditioner, and my elderly relative did not suffer any ill effects from the heat. * Winter of 2008 - I called with a dead furnace issue, and again, they would not be able to get to us the next day or the day after. We chose another means of fixing the furnace. Perhaps we should have known better. We have not had any difficulties like this with the other local company. CONCLUSION: The techs we have had do the maintenance are good; the tech we had for the repair was good; but it is difficult to get emergency service, and the front office and dispatcher change their stories on why.
