We discovered a leak in one of the pipes to the washing machine. Turned off all the water to the house. Called ARS and serviceman was out within 2 hrs. He assessed the situation and gave us a couple of options for repair. We elected to have the entire box and both pipes replaced. He completed this very promptly. Had to cut away some drywall to do it and told us ahead of time that the company was not responsible for drywall repair. The repair was fine except when he screwed the box surrounding the washer shut-off valves to the wall studs, he fastened it crooked and I had to take out the screws and adjust the box so that it was straight. We appreciated the punctuality but I'm sure paid for the speedy service. Would have liked the box attached correctly to begin with but that was not that big of an issue.

Tom was quite pleasant to work with seemed to be thorough and answered my question in detail. He checked for excess moisture in the system and told us he didn't find any. I am not sure of the price but it seemed a bit high for what was done.
Description of Work: Checked heating and cooling units as well as air charge unit. Installed new filter, washed air exchange filters, and replaced humidifier.

They were able to get to us the day I called with no AC. Got the unit running temporarily to get us through one of the hottest days of the summer. Salesman came that evening, explained everything well, and arranged installation of new equipment in two days. We have used ARS for years and have always been very pleased.

They came out to fix it, also noticed that the garbage disposal I had installed before was not properly mounted. They corrected this and also replaced the piping from sink to wall. Overall, I was happy with the work they did, but the replaced piping was probably quadruple the price of the same parts purchased at a store. I was glad they addressed the garbage disposal mounting, but felt that the parts charge was a bit excessive. This is a large reputable company, so I felt that I received a standard service experience with quality that has held up since the visit.
Description of Work: I was having issues with a leaky pipe under the kitchen sink.

Made an appointment to come. They didn't show up at the appointment time, didn't call and wouldn't give an estimate over the phone. I've been with them for years, before they consolidated. I stuck with them. This was the straw that broke the camel's back.

The Bait and Switch. On the 20th, I call the ARS Rescue Rooter office to verify the appointment. Yes, it is scheduled for 9 to 1 today. Shannon shows up a little after 10, but not alone. With him is his "supervisor" to "help wrestle the tub in place" (the tub was not part of the estimate). I said I already installed the tub, it is fiberglass and didn't need two to lift it. Anyway, Shannon shows his "supervisor" the job - (all new install, nothing old or dirty). Then they go outside, I thought to get supplies. Shannon calls me outside and the "supervisor" says "this job is going to take a lot longer than 4 hours. Its going to take two of us at least 6 hours, so we're not going to do it for less than $2,000". I said that's not right, and they left.
Description of Work: I am installing a bathroom in my basement. I made an appointment to get a plumbing estimate to install lines to tub, sink and toilet, plus move the water heater a few feet and hook up a water softener. (Basically 2nd rough-in) . Also some pvc to.attach an ejector pump. Shannon shows up on time and very professional. I told him that I was hoping to get this work done for less than $1,000. He wrote up an estimate and we both signed it. It said 4 hours at $140 an hour, plus supplies (mostly pex pipe, I already had the necessary pvc and ejector pump, etc). (4 x 140 = $560.00) Shannon told me that this would come in way under $1,000, more like $750. So I made an appointment for August 20th. He even called the scheduler/dispatcher back at the office and had them schedule 4 hours on the 20th.

Dear Member: We are sorry for the experience you received with our company. Please know that customer satisfactory is our number one priority. After reviewing the invoice and speaking with our technician it was determined that the technician did not quote an approximate time it would take to complete the job as he did not know how long it would take him to complete, but he did quote time and material. Our technician brought in a second technician to help with the job in order to get the job done in a timelier manner. As for the tub after, our technician looked and discovered it was not installed properly. Our technicians would have had to take the tub out and put in the backing board and concrete it in as well as connect all the drains and that would have raised the final price. I simply cannot recommend ARS for A/C/ service. They installed my central unit 10 years ago so I called them when it needed repair. I scheduled service with their call center on a Monday and we made an appointment for 9am Wednesday. They did not show up. When I called to see why they were late they had no record of my appointment. ARS said they would send their next available tech. He showed up around noon, looked at my unit and said he could not work on it because of a medical condition he had and could not walk up the ladder into the attic. Late that day they sent another tech out who replaced a capacitor and got us cooling. He said the unit needed cleaning and he could not do it now. I called ARS and scheduled a cleaning for the next week, asking for the tech who fixed it as he advised me to do. I asked for and schedule this tech when I made the cleaning appointment. When I called a day ahead to confirm my appointment their computer was down. They did call back to confirm. For the cleaning appointment ARS sent a tech out who was different from the person we scheduled and this one did not have the keys to the ladders on his truck. He called his dispatch and I had to call to reschedule. My house is not that large or unique, as it is near Broad Ripple. Yes, their reps are professional and they wear covers over their boots. I'm not making this stuff up. I have the names and times I've called. I feel that they don't care much about the customer or their schedule. You need to know this.

Our a/c stopped working one night during recent heat wave. A technician came out to diagnose the problem the next morning and provided a quote on fixing our 10-year-old unit. We asked for an estimate on a new unit and a rep came out within 3 hours to determine size and capacity we would need and we decided to go with a new a/c rather than repair the old. The next morning Ray (?) came out and worked his butt off on a very hot, humid day. Installation required rewiring and re-plumbing (in the crawl space!) and when he was finished, he offered to "walk us through" the work he had done.

I was very pleased with the entire experience from sales to installation. My neighbor mentioned that she had a friend that worked in Sales at ARS that installed her heat pump. Her firend, Brian, immediately called me on 7/5/10 and came out the same day. He spent a few hours going over various options with me and we finalized my system around 8 pm that evening. My new system was installed starting at 8:30 am the next morning. Everything was smooth and I could not be happier with the timeliness and service I was provided. Highly recommend.

Replacemnt of the sump pump and check valve work was excellent. There was a later disagreement concerning the invoiced price. This was, after help from Angie's Lists' complaint resolution system and an ARS refund check, resolved.

I called ARS and they had someone out to help me within an hour. Technician diagnosised problem to my unit's circuit board. He also went and checked the furnace section of my unit and determined that the inducer motor assy. looks like it will eventually need replacing.( The tecnician told me this part only comes into play when you turn on the heat) The service call was for the A/C not blowing, so it puzzled me when he started to take apart the heater parts. Now with both parts hanging out he tells me that the circuit board will cost $500 and the inducer motor will cost $665. He mentioned that I may want to consider a new unit. I asked that the inducer motor be put back in and replace the circuit board. Mind you he was courteous and polite, but I felt I was being pressured to purchase a new unit. Later, I went online and found the same circuit board (original manufactuer) selling for between $150-$250, so markup was considerable. I was able to use a coupon for a free service call so this saved me $89.

On a service contract with ARS. Have a Trane system that is only 6 years old. Turned on a/c and it wasn't working properly. Called our service company and they couldn't get out for 2 days. When they did come out, they didn't have the part we needed and said it would be Saturday before they could install it. It was a terrible heat wave. I called Trane and they said they could get the part on Saturday, but ARS couldn't install it until Tuesday. Called Tuesday morning to see what time they were coming out. They didn't order the part. So, it's been a week without a/c during a heat wave. Had to pay to board the dogs and cancel our Memorial Day plans because it was unbearably hot in here. ARS did not make an effort to serve their existing customers first. I am so dissappointed in their lack of customer service. And, to top it off, not once did anyone apologize. Just said, "we're busy. everyone else is in the same boat." But I bet if the repair had been more expensive or had we needed a new system, they would have been out right away. We have another company coming out tomorrow to take care of us. And that is the company we will be transferring our service contract to. I guess sometimes companies get too big and stop caring about their customers. I'm sure they won't even care that we're leaving them.

Dear Member: We are sorry for the inconvenience you experience with our company. Please know it is our goal to provide each customer with first class service. Responding to the above complaint, our technician did diagnose the condenser motor bad, our parts manager did then contact the customer to let her know that he was going to order the part and that it would take two days for it to arrive. The customer than stated to our parts manager that if we could not have it the next day she was going to call another company so at that point we did not order the part. We asked the customer rather she wanted us to order it or not and she said she was calling someone else. We again explained to her that the part would have to be ordered from our supplier. This is the last we heard of the customer until she called back two days later and asked for us to come and install the part and we told her that we did not ordered it because she said she was going to find someone else that could fix it faster. We apologize for the misunderstanding but we were under the impression the customer did not want to wait. We have cancelled the customers contract with ARS per the customer’s request and are refunding the unused portion of the contract.

I called three places to get people to come out and give us an estimate on replacing our sewer line. ARS was the only company that came out same day and said they would be able to start in the morning. They called the power/utility companies to mark our buried lines, we didn't have to do anything. They arrived at 9am and with only two men working all day, and they finished before 5pm. They cleaned up their mess and made no major damage to any of our other property. Everyone we worked with at ARS was friendly and helpful.

We have had to have repeated service. We have needed to have the system worked on at least once every 3 months for various problems. The last two times it has been over 24 hours before someone from ARS could even get to us. The last time we had trouble we called our original salesman to try to schedule service. The time before a wire was shorting and causing the fuse to blow. ***** UPDATE 6/22/10 ***** ARS sent a technician to review the entire system and determined problems due to their install. They replaced the entire A/C unit, installed a proper damper, and extended the warranty as if the entire system was brand new. The company has stood behind their product and we are now completely satisfied.

We installed this customers unit on July 27th, 2007 unfortunately the unit has had some problems most recently a service call in March and again in last month, we certainly can understand the customer’s frustration. Our records however do not indicate that it has ever taken longer than 3 hours for us to respond to this customer request for service. The most recent request for service the customer called our sales representative which on vacation at the time instead of calling our office but we still responded within 2 hours of the office being notified that the customer had a problem. Again we sincerely apologize for this customers experience with our company. For this inconvenience we replaced the customer’s a/c unit last Friday with a new unit at no additional charge. Jeremy was sent out handle my request. He said my filters were dirty though I had always been told that they weren?t too bad. I do not clean them as I should as they are very difficult to get in and out. He offered a solution to make this easier for me, going up into the attic to take a look. He came back and said he unfortunately could not fix that problem. Jeremy told me I was losing a lot of heat and something must be done about it. He stated my ducts didn?t have insulation, a pipe appeared to be bent (as if someone had stepped on it) and some insulation had fallen off the wall. For $1,537.25 he could fix the stated problems. He continued to reiterate what an emergency this was. I?m 82 years old and I felt as though he was taken advantage of the fact that I could not climb into the attic myself to verify the suggested work. I later asked a neighbor (who happens to do handyman work) to take a look. He said the ductwork had insulation and he would go to the hardware store himself to get a small piece of piping to replace the bent portion. He took a broom and lifted up the insulation that had fallen off. This only cost me a couple of dollars vs the estimated $1,537.25. I felt this company tried to take advantage of my age and provide unnecessary work.

We are sorry for the experience she had with our company. We strive to exceed the best customer service. We believe it was just a communication error between the customer and our technician. Maybe our technician did not fully explain what he recommended for the customer. The technician was not giving a quote to insulate the duct work; our quote was to add insulation to the attic to meet the Federal recommendations for residential attic insulation. This would have increased the R-value of the customer’s attic which intern will reduce the customer’s utility bills while increasing their comfort level. We again are sorry that she felt she was trying to be taken advantage of; unfortunately we believe it was a misunderstanding. Office personnel were courteous, professional and proficient. Air conditioning mechanic was knowledgable and courteous. He let me know the probable causes of damage to wiring, and installed the replacement wiring in a manner so as to prevent any future damage. He took the time to explain in detail what his suggested plan was.
