When I called to arrange a service call I found out they do not service ARS softeners. They sell them; just don't service them. Also, the phone representative could (would?) not refer me to a company that does provide service. I may have to replace the softener - I will definitely not buy from ARS.
Description of Work: I have an ARS Millenium II water softener. A tag atttached to it provides the ARS 317.390.555 for service.

They installed the sytem and we have documented over 20 service calls trying to make it work. They promised us abuot 1500 dollars a year operating cost for the two systems, we've never come any place close to that. We paid 500 dollars last month. Every time they came out they were doing repairs. It was running on direct electric heat which is the most expensive, the second time they replaced the pumped, the third time there was no hot water, the fourth time was the high energy bills. They suggested at that time that the loop had a problem and the loop master came out found nothing wrnog with it. ARS came out and checked the pressure and they found it was okay. They sent us a check to cover that cost. We still have high energy bills in September of '08. In November of '08 it just wasn't heating so they disabled the air flow. The geothermal couldn't keep up with it so they disabled it and we froze. The service manager came out and checked it in december. They order parts and replaced some parts. The next service call the plugged and sealed holes in their heat duct. In February of '09 the water service manager and field rep were here together to make improvements in the duct work. The next day they came out to install the improvements. In March they installed a new heat run and changed out one of the water furnaces. We still had high energy bills. Duke changed the meter. In March when they replaced the new unit we were sure that was the problem sdo we had our yard graded and new wash put in. We wrecked two of our new sidewalks plus our lawn was rolly polly. At the piont we had no cnofidence that they knew what they were diong. I went back out and the loop is probably six inches above the gruond right now so we still don't have the prblem solved. The furnace never turns off, it runs continuously. In 3 months the heating unit has turned off twice. We have a heating unit that still does not work and we have no money to replace it. We have money we poured into the sidewalk and yard. Its difficult to justify spending 40000 dollars. Its been a horror story from the beginning, I have no confidence that ARS knows what they're doing. The loop is burried from five feet down, it never shuts off. This is just one of the units, the other seems to be working fine. The loop is breaching the ground around and literally pushed the sidewalks 8 or 10 inches out of the ground. They came out here a whole bunch of times and didn't accomplish anything. They were prompt, courteous and friendly, they just didn't know what they were doing. It was just like they didn't have a clue.

I have one of their packages where they come twice a year. The price is reasonable. The last job was fine. They call and tell me when they are coming. The guy who came out gave me good feedback. He was courteous. They are the only ones who have ever done my stuff. So I really don’t have anybody else to compare it to. They bought whoever put our furnace in and so I have just gone with them ever since then. I haven’t really compared or priced anybody else. Their service is fine and I haven’t had any problems.
Description of Work: Air-Trol Heating & AC Inc. did the routine checkup on my AC early in the spring.

I have a yearly contract with them. I started using them because they bought out the company that I was using previously. I liked the previous company better than ARS/ Rescue Rooter of Indiana. I like the service that this company offers. They have twice-a-year service. They come out to do the furnace and the air conditioner. They also do some maintenance work like cleaning, cleaning the filters; etc. They also give me a discount on any other service calls that I might need. The maintenance work seems to have helped avoid a lot of other problems. I have been very happy with them. They call me everytime to remind me that I need to schedule the appointment; I especially like them for that. I recently started using their monthly billing service. Instead of paying a huge sum once a year, I can pay $14 a month. I pay about $170 a year. It covers the cost of the two maintenance calls and gives me a discount on any other services that I might need. I also get some discounts on service calls I think. I don?t have to pay extra for them coming out on weekends or after hours since I am one of the service-plan members. I think they also do plumbing and drain cleaning work, but I have only used them for heating and cooling services. I am pleased with their maintenance plan. They have always been very pleasant on the phone. I think their price is very reasonable. I have been using their service for atleast five years now and I will continue to do so.
Description of Work: I used ARS/ Rescue Rooter of Indiana, eight months ago. They checked my air conditioning unit at that time.

They did a great job for me. I have used them for many jobs. They are very responsive too. They show up on time, and if they don't show up on time they will pay me $50.
Description of Work: They put in a new heating and air conditioning unit. The furnace was a high efficiency furnace too. Also they have done plumbing work for me and maintenance.

First company spent little effort surveying the house, just recommended installation of a cleanout. ARS/RR took the time to assess the house and attempted other cheaper measures to resolve the issue. Upon returning 3 days later to install a cleanout, they uncovered a buried one in the yard within 10 minutes - saving me about $1400. The installer (Chris B) seemed more knowledgeable and conscientious than reps from the other 2 companies that I had out to investigate the issue. I also discovered that if you mention another firm has been out to look at your issue, you will automatically get a "free assessment". I definitely would recommend going with ARS/RR based on my experience.
Description of Work: Downstairs toilet was backed up when using other toilets or washing machine. Ultimately "unearthed" my cleanout under snow and 2 feet of dirt. Cleaned the main drain back to my 1st floor toilet and out to the street.

They did in the insulation and they were very prompt and professional. I could tell the difference in my home immediately, I wish I had insulated my attic years ago. They gave us the best bid as well. After they installed the insulation a mysterious stain appeared on my ceiling. I called them and they came right out to investigate the problem. He pulled the insulation up to make sure there wasn't anything there and even brought the crew back out to repair the insulation after checking everything out. They were unable to find a cause linked to the insulation for the stain. I really appreciated their promptness and attention to my concerns. I needed to have the work done by Dec. 31st to qualify for the tax credit and they were incredibly prompt in scheduling the appointment and getting out to do the work within my time constraints.
Description of Work: I hired them to install insulation in my attic. They were recommended to me by our plumber who works for ARS Rescue Rooter.

They came out and reinstalled the toilet, and hooked the washer and dryer back up. I have worked with a lot of plumbing companies and these guys are the best. They were incredibly prompt and thorough. After he finished the work he did a general plumbing inspection (residential plumbing checklist). I felt very well taken care of and very confident in the work he did. He didn't seem rushed. He acted as though he wanted to be our plumber for life, and he will be my go to guy for plumbing from now on. While he was here he noticed that my water heater needed an ANO ID Rod, he had one with him so I purchased that and he installed it as well. He was informative and actually showed me the old rod compared to a new one so that I could see how filthy it was. He was very low pressure and said that I could replace it now or later and he was very upfront with us.
Description of Work: We had new flooring installed and the flooring company removed our toilet, washer and dryer to install the floors. The flooring company wasn't able to reinstall the amenities and recommended this plumbing company.

I like their customer service. They are good at that. They call with reminders about our plan and scheduling for maintenance. The guys that come out are very thorough and helpful in service and adjustments. They most recently tweaked our thermostat and advised about how settings and control of the thermostat could also help us save on our heating expenses. They are precise about necessary services only and don't over do what is not needed.
Description of Work: We have a maintenance service agreement with this company and they routinely check on our furnace and air.

Water heater sprung a leak on a Saturday. We had a speciality water heater. Called around several places and nobody was able to deliver service until Monday since they didn't have this water heater in stock. ARS got in around 2pm and installed the replacement tank by 5pm. Cleaned up and left the place looking as good as new. They also recommended an overflow tank to prevent the issue. Tank was under warranty. cost was for labor and overflow tank. While they weren't cheap, they were certainly worth every penny. Will definitely do business with them again.

Their prices were high. They were slow in getting back to us with he warranty equipment (for the government rebate). We had to call several times to remind them of that.

The company, from the office personnel to Tom the technician, could not have been more professional, knowledgeable and helpful. I called and was told they could come out the very next day. I received a call the next morning before 8 oclock from the technician saying he was on his way. He was nice and friendly and knowledgeable... which is hard to find these days in the service industry. From the initial call to ARS to when the tech left... the experience was positive. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone and will definitely use them again in the future. ARS is a breath of fresh air when it comes to customer service!!!!!!
Description of Work: We contacted ARS after our furnace stopped working (they were the company that installed it 8 years ago under a different owner). They came out and diagnosed the problem and got us back up and running...

Tech arrived at 2:35pm. Late as all their techs are. Probably not the techs fault. Took less than 2 hours to repair. That is $400 plus per hour! Techs are very friendly but trained to milk the customer. Their response should show people their logic and bogus billing. They say this included insurance cost, truck operation, office employee to purchase the part, complete paper work, return defective part, a trained technician, etc. Think about it - if this was the reason for an $800 charge for 1hr 45 min, wouldn't every service call be that much? How dumb do they think people are?
Description of Work: Heat exchanger on furnace neede to be replaced. (At least that is what they told me. How would I know they were not scaming me?) Part under warrantee but service call was $800 for 4 hours - $200 per hour. It took less than 2 hours! They were late for the "window" they gave me by 35 minutes. We have used ARS for probably 14 years and they have NEVER been on time for an appointment! When they do arrive, they try to tell you that this and that should be replaced and you need a new furnace and air conditioner. When you say "NO", they fix/clean and everything works great. I think they are scam artists trying to rape the customers who don't know any better. I cannot in good faith recommend these people to anyone. In fact, I may never use them again as they never deliver on what they promise. Nor do they try to make it right. They don't care about the customer.

Dear Member: We are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with your service call. Please know we strive to exceed customer’s expectations. Regarding your recent compliant we have reviewed our technicians invoice and the prices are correct. The price not only includes the technician’s labor but also several other costs that have been incurred just to get him there, like insurance, truck operation and so on. We also must pay an office employee to purchase the part as well as complete all the required warranty paperwork the manufacture requires as well as make sure the defective part is returned to the manufacture. Plus you are paying for a trained professional to perform the repair. ARS believes it is important that each and every customer is probably informed and given an option to repair or replace their existing equipment, our technicians are trained to do so with the customer’s best interest in mind. It is up to the customer whether they want the unit repaired or replaced, our goal is not to push the customer for one or the other, but to make sure they are aware of their options. As for our technician running late to the customer’s home we do apologize, there was a miscommunication between the dispatchers during shift change that the afternoon dispatcher figured the morning dispatcher had called the customer to let them know that the technician was going to be headed that way, but he first needed to pick up another part for the customers unit. The call did slip through the crack which doesn’t happen often, but in this case it did and for that we sincerely apologize. We would also like to note that when the customer called in regarding the status of there technician we did give the customer the option to reschedule due to the fact that parts for the unit easily accessible at the supply house and the customer declined to reschdule. We did not make it clear we were going to be late but we gave them the option knowing we might be late.
