The price was competitive! I was impressed with the with this venture from beginning to end. The salesman answered my questions thoroughly and advised me as to what system I should buy! He also gave me time to check it out on my own and I found his recommendations to be on the money! Next the installers came out and and installed and and tested my new system! They found one part that didn't test to specs and removed it ! However the system was still operational! When the crew came out a few days later for the duct cleaning they installed the part that needed replacing and cleaned all my ducts! Both crews were polite and knowledgeable and explained thoroughly what their task were before they started! ARS even sent me a thank-you basket! It's hard to find good service nowadays that you feel completely satisfied with! I thank ARS for this experience!
Description of Work: They installed a Hybrid system heat pump and furnace and cleaned the ducts in my home.

ARS was chosen for me by my home warranty company. I have heard bad things about them from others and would have never chosen on my own. After this I still know that I will not. I needed them in an emergency and they told me they would be out in 24-48 hours. It then required another call back to my warranty company to complain before they would even consider coming out the same day. Even at that, it took them 8 hours to decide it was worth their time. The plumber seemed technically competent and did find something wrong with one of my systems that seemed to justify his coming. He then proceeded to nose around my house in areas that had nothing to do with the issues. Hope he enjoyed the tour. Then he proceeded to recommend about 5 "repairs" to my home that were priced somewhere between 50 and 500% higher than what I know they could be done for. How do I know this? I had three quotes from other plumbers who aren't scam artists. After all of this he even offered me a wonderfully reduced price by signing up for their deluxe home service package. Still higher than everyone else by far. What a ripoff...steer clear and Call Roby's.

This customer has a policy through American Home Shield (AHS) which ARS is contracted through. Our records indicate we received the work order from American Home Shield at 8:12am on Monday morning and entered it into the system. ARS gets the work order from AHS and then ARS calls the customer to set up the appointment in a 4-hour time frame. Standard response time per AHS should be within 24 hours for an emergency call. Our technician got dispatched at 2:30pm and arrived at 3:15pm which would have been 7 hours after ARS got the initial work order. Our technician arrived for a report of a sump pump not working. The technician did an inspection and found the sump pump was working correctly but the temperature/pressure relief valve discharge pipe had leaked on the water heater. The technician changed the T&P valve, lowered the water heater temperature, offered quotes to install a thermal expansion tank, pressure reducing valve and tie the softener discharge into the drainage system. The technicians 5 repairs were recommendations made to the homeowner that may create future problems and were the result of the free plumbing inspection we do on all service calls. The technician did offer a deluxe home service plan to the customer as he does to all his customers. That includes HVAC tune-ups for the furnace and the air conditioner as well as the water heater. We are sorry ARS did not arrive at this customer’s house soon enough for him. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our valued customer.

Every one was very professional; they knew their job and how to complete the work efficiently. I would especially like to thank Roy Smith the installer. It took him an entire day to complete the installation and it is perfect. He was such a pleasant person to work with; I really felt bad that he had to work so hard and so long. I have used ARS in the past and will continue to call them. You can rely on them to do what they say they will do.

I was very pleased with their work and the process saved me about $10,000. They did it all without tearing the yard and driveway up. The only thing they had to do was dig a 6x6 hole and they did a great job of restoring it after the work was done.

ARS was wonderful throughout the process. I was dealing with my warranty company and ARS was very helpful in navigating through the process. They came out initially to look at the leak. After the slab leak was detected they determined the best possible way to get to it. Although it would have been easier for them to get to the leak by going through our infants room which would have required us to repair drywall and redo custom painted walls-they did the repair through our master bedroom closet so that this would not be the case. They got the work done quickly-even coming out to give an estimate to us on short notice because they understood that we had the water turned off. They took great care in the clean up as well. After they were finished, we found that our kitchen sink faucet was not working (the leak was not located near the sink). We called and they came out after hours to see what the issue was. The problem was caused by the water being turned off/water softener but not directly related to the leak-but they took care of the problem for us. We were very impressed with them throughout this process. This was the largest problem we have had with our home and it was so helpful to have ARS there to help us.
Description of Work: I heard running water in a wall. They came to the home and determined that I had a slab leak. After the leak was detected (by a different company using special equipment) they came back to repair the leak. They cut into the concrete under the slab, repaired the pipe, and poured new concrete. This caused an additional problem with our kitchen sink which they also fixed.

Upon installation he billed my mother for $538.21. $463.50 for the faucet and installation$39.50 for a diagnostic fee$35.21 taxMy mother was shocked at the price. She was not told before she approved it. I looked up the faucet on Lowes website. It retails for $70. I called ARS to inquire about the charge. They said this is their "book price". I think it's horribly expensive and urge others not to have ARS install any plumbing fixtures!
Description of Work: My mother ($84 years) called ARS because she thought her water heater was leaking. They came right away, checked it out and determined it was condensation from the air conditioning. The technician offered to check other things in her house as he was there. She agreed. She has been on a service membership with ARS for many years. The technician found that her kitchen faucet leaked, upon further inspection he determined it was worn and beyond repair. He offered to install a new one. Said he had one on the truck.

Upon review of the invoice and discussing the issue with the technician, the faucet was clearly quoted, accepted and signed off by the customer previous to work performed per ARS policy. The suggested manufacturer list price is $133.50 for the faucet only. The list price quoted by our technician includes the faucet and all supplies, fittings and labor for a complete installation with a full 2 year parts and labor warranty. We are sorry that the customer is not happy with the pricing however there are many factors included in the price that is above and beyond just the cost of the faucet.

They gave me quote on a repair, which was about $1300. I did not want to do it. It has been okay since then. I also received a quote on a new system, that I thought was high.

The first ARS plumber came on August 23rd and we thought unplugged the toiled and did not leave a mess. Couple of days latter when the toilet was used it was plugged and another plumber from ARS came. After trying to unplug the toilet he took the toilet out and caused a huge mess. After inspection of the toilet he said the toilet needed to be replaced and reinstalled the existing toilet. The second trip ARS did not charge but we had to clean up the mess he left.

At approximately 2:00, an employee from the ARS office called to say the service rep was finishing up at his previous appointment and would be heading toward my house soon. She said she would call when he was en route to my house. At 5:30, I called ARS to ask if the service rep would still be coming. She said he was hopelessly behind and asked if we could set up another appointment. I told her it is difficult for me to find a time when I can be home essentially all day waiting for their service rep, which is what happens with most of my appointments with ARS. She said the service rep could still come, but he would arrive after midnight! I told her that was unacceptable, I wished to cancel my service contract with ARS, and to send me the amount of money I had prepaid for this missed appointment when I bought the service contract last autumn.. I made this decision since I have repeatedly had this type of problem with ARS for several years. I was originally a customer of Air-Trol, whose punctuality was reasonably good. After ARS bought Air Trol, I continued doing business with ARS. For 13 years, I have purchased service contracts for heating and air conditioning check-ups and service, first with Air Trol and then with ARS. The companies' contracts proclaim they give contract customers priority service. However, once ARS bought Air Trol, I have repeatedly had to cancel personal plans when the service rep arrived several hours later than the appointment time, or never arrived that day at all and I had to reschedule. One time ARS rescheduled me three times before keeping its appointment! I'm finished with ARS!
Description of Work: I was scheduled for my annual air conditioning check-up. This would have been the second of the two-appointment contract I purchased last autumn for furnace and air conditioning check-ups. ARS told me its service rep would arrive between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Dear Member, ARS values each and every customer especially our HSP (Home Service Plan) customers. Our HSP customers are promised priority service in the unfortunate situation that their system would break down. This does not include priority tune-up and cleanings over another HSP customer with a no heat or no cool. Member was scheduled for her annual tune-up and cleaning the week Indianapolis received record breaking temperatures in July. This was a staffing issue for ARS due to the high demand of calls being received during this time. I understand this should not be our customers concern and if Member will give ARS another opportunity we will guarantee her she will not be rescheduled for her annual tune-up and cleaning in the future. ARS would like to regain her trust and confidence by offering her a complimentary one year HSP. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our valued customer. ARS was quick to respond to my call. They had someone out to take care of my problem quickly. They gave me options as to water heaters I could put in (price and size). The water heater was on the second floor. They removed it without and water on the carpet or any damage to walls (it was a rather tight fit). I was VERY happy with their service and will use them again.
Description of Work: We had a water heater that started leaking in the early morning hours. I searched "Angie's List' for a top rated plumber. We decided to call ARS. They had someone out there in a few hours. Great prompt service.

Since we moved into our house in 1983 (constructed in the late 60's), we have had problems with the second floor being much hotter in the summer than the first floor. Even a new air conditioning system wasn't able to improve the problem. So we decided to check into the ARS system of attic fan, radiant barrier and increased insulation where needed. They were able to schedule us in a timely fashion, did the work in one day and cleaned up after themselves. Our big summer heat/drought began about two weeks later, and we could tell a big difference in the upstairs temperatures. We are very pleased with the results!
Description of Work: They put in a solar fan on the roof to expell hot air from the attic, a radiant barrier to decrease the amount of heat entering the attic and put more insulation in the attic to bring it up to code.

The pipes in our downstairs bathroom needed to be replaced. They had sprung leaks bad enough to show up in the basement and had started to mold with the constant moisture. ARS came within a day of our phoning them and replaced the pipes. We are very happy with their timely repairs!

When the worst heat of the summer arrived, our air conditioner failed. We called ARS and they sent out a technician the very next day. He had the sad news that the compressor was dead. I was a bit perturbed that instead of telling us our options then and there (as was done nine years earlier when THAT system failed us), he had to have a company sales person come see us to explain our options. Since we had already put A LOT of money into the house that summer, I wanted to just replace the compressor instead of getting a whole new air conditioning unit. We were informed that it would take two weeks to get the replacement part, so we chose a replacement air conditioning unit that would cost us more than I really wanted us to pay. After the salesman left, I called the company that had installed our old unit nine years earlier. I wanted to make sure that we were not "being played" by ARS to buy a new unit as opposed to repairing the old one. The original company confirmed that it would indeed take two weeks to get the replacement compressor we needed. During our conversation, however, they were able to offer us a new unit at a more attractive price than ARS. We told them that we would consider their offer and then called ARS back with what the other company had offered us. ARS then worked with us to get us a new unit that was of a comparable price PLUS they were able to install it the very next day. ARS made me VERY HAPPY!
Description of Work: Our failed air conditioning system was replaced with a new system.

I used them probably about a month ago. It wasn't a major problem but just a minor problem we had. We were satisfied with them. He wasn't sure if he had to repair it or completely replace it but he repaired them. He was very thorough and explained exactly what he was doing. He was very professional and very responsive.

The ceiling started leaking and I called them to come and check it out since the pipes were up there. I was told they were very busy and would put me on the list. In the meanwhile, I called a roofer who came promptly and ruled out the roof and said it's a condensate drain leaking. I called the company back again and told them my ceiling was going to fall in, that I really needed someone there and again was told they were busy, I was on the list. I called other companies and they couldn't come (of course I wasn't their customer either). Finally, half of the kitchen ceiling fell in on my countertop, my refrigerator, the dining room floor and the kitchen floor. It had knocked down huge bowls I had on the counter top to contain the leak. I called the company for the third time and told them the ceiling caved in and only THEN did she dispatch someone out to me and he was there within 5 minutes of the call. The technician wasn't happy and said I should've been moved up to first on the list. I've used this company for going on 4 years so it's not like I was a new customer. I had to file a homeowner's claim for $6000 due to this and had to have a new ceiling, insulation and new floor in three rooms, not to mention I ended up cleaning up mounds of wet sheet rock and insulation in two different rooms, on the counter and on top of the refrigerator. I've even advised corporate (so much for that). I will no longer use this company and have chosen a new company based on the advice of an elderly neighbor.

We try to respond to each clients demands as quickly as possible especially ones that may result in property damage or that may present a safety hazard to the client. After reviewing this call our CSR recommended that you turn off the air conditioning unit when you called our office the second time thus to prevent any additional damages. However when the technician arrived the air conditioner was still running which mostly likely resulted in the additional damages. Our technician was not upset that our dispatch department had not dispatched him sooner as he had just came from another call that included an elderly client that had no air conditioning, he simply felt bad for the mess this caused the member ARS again does apologize for the inconvenience and we truly feel horrible for the mess that it caused this member. Description of Work: ARS came for spring maintenance (under service contract) and were informed the compressor was grounded (raising our electric bill for prior months). Compressor was still under warranty. Replacement had to be ordered (took a week). Were told technician would be here at noon. Did not arrive until 4:00 pm. At that time the technician stated we really needed a new heat pump and he could arrange for someone to come out and give us an estimate INSTEAD of his replacing the compressor. Wife called company management totally confused, pricing between having compressor replaced (under warranty) and a new furnace was $7-8,000. difference. Wife told management wanted compressor put it since it was still under warranty and if we needed a new furnace at a later date we'd address that later. Management said he would talk to technician and have it done that day. Because it was so late in the day the technician probably didn't want to do it. Technician got done about 7:30 pm. The money amount paid was for labor of putting the compressor in. Saturday, July 23rd, 2011 called ARS and stated we had no air conditioning. Was told soonest would be following Tuesday between 8-9 am. Called Monday, July 25, 2011 stated we had service contract for maintenance with the understanding we would have priority service but earliest they could schedule us on Saturday was 4 days later (in 90 degree weather). Were told on Monday's phone call that we could be put on stand-by for Monday and finally received a call at 4:50 pm that they couldn't make it today. Very confused about ARS's advertisement, quality of equipment, and customer service ethics. Because the furnace that ARS sold us while still under warranty they wanted to replace with a new one and advertisement for maintenance agreement telling you that you'll have priority with service calls. It is misleading. It feels like once they get your money quality of service falls below average.

However sometimes in extreme conditions these clients may experience a longer wait time, again ARS goal is to take care of these clients as soon as possible. ARS goal is to get each of our clients unit back into full operation as quickly as possible, unfortunately the manufactures supplier did not have the compressor in stock so the replacement compressor had to be ordered and ship to our location. The price this client was charged is correct, for this repair to be completed properly it requires replacing several key components that work in conjunction with the compressor thus limiting the possibility of any future problems with the unit. ARS records indicate the call was scheduled from 1 to 3 and that our technician arrived at the member’s home at 3:05; the technician completed the repair 5 hours later at 8:00 that evening. AC went out that Thursday afternoon. We called ARS about 6:30 after trying to diagnose it ourselves. Service TECH called us immediately to set up time. Warned us it would be VERY late that night before he could there as there were five calls head of us. We gave him okay to come. (we weren't going to get any sleep as hot as it was). He called about midnight to tell us he was on the way if we still wanted him. YES. He had already pretty much figured out the problem from the first phone call. Was here, repaired it and asked if we had a coupon to help with the service call expense. We hadn't even thought of that, we were so hot. Found a coupon for the service call on Angie's list (just paid for our membership!).I did think $250 was rather excessive for a capacitor after pricing them around $20-$30 range. I can only assume that included labor, as parts and labor were not separated on the invoice.

Overall, I'm very happy with the tank less water heater. However, the hot water does require a few minutes to kick in -- as expected. i realize that the costs will NOT be recouped when I sell my condo, but I'm happy with what I have now. Unfortunately, I did not have the luxury of time to research the costs of these heaters, and in hindsight, I believe I may have paid too much for this system.
Description of Work: My 13-yr old water heater (which came with my condo), finally died and spewed water onto my living room downstairs (detailed separately in Water Remediation). I had used ARS for many years to perform checkups on my furnace and air conditioner, so I called them. The plumber came the next day. Since I needed a new water heater, I decided to go with a tank less system (since the water heater was upstairs and I didn't want to go though this hassle again). The only option available through ARS was a Rennai R75Si system, so I had the plumber install this tank less water heater on the same day. He had to put in extra ventilation pipes on the outside of my condo walls to accommodate this system. The installation took about 6 hours.

We did not spend anything because we had bought a new heating and air conditioning unit for $7000 and the air conditioner did not work. The air went out on the hottest day of the year. They were not very good about wanting to make it right. We will never use their services again in the future.

Someone came out that day and quoted me $513.50 for two hours of digging and about half an hour of fixing. He was going to come out the next day. He let me know that he was going to come in the afternoon. In the morning I realized that $513.50 was a lot of money and I decided to dig the stuff myself, which I did. So by the time he arrived, everything was done. He had maximum of hour an hour repair still to do. I watched him because he kept talking and not working. He took his time forever. In the end he worked for one and a half hour. When we sat down, I was expecting a price adjustment but he again quoted me again $513.50. I asked him why there was no price adjustment for two hours of digging. He told me that the best he could do is to reduce the price to $493. He could take off $20 off. I explained him again that I did the two hours of digging. He said that it was a set price from the company and there was nothing he could do. I paid him. My husband ended up calling the company and they said that they would call back within 48 hours and talk to the gentleman first. Three days later we still didn’t hear from them. That’s why I called them up. In the meantime, I had gone to the place from where he had got the materials from. He had got 10 feet of piping and three cuffing and that was just $30. I called them three days later because they didn’t call back. I explained my situation. They were to tell me the same thing that they would talk to the gentleman first and they would call me back. I told them that they should already have talked to him. Later somebody did call me back and they gave me a refund of $210. They apologized and said that it was calculated wrong. They said that it was an accident. I did get my refund cheque over a week and a half later. They came out right away to do the work. I wouldn’t use them in the future.
