They do a really good job and they are very professional during their visits.
Description of Work: We have a service contract with them. They come out twice a year to check on our heating and air. They come in the fall to check the furnace and in the spring they come to check our AC unit.

They talked her into getting insulation in the attic, and also have the registers cleaned in addition to replacing the furnace. Ever since this was replaced, it hasn't worked right. We couldn't get anyone to return our phone calls. She took money out of her pocket to have someone else come and look at it. When they came out, they went up to the attic and found the cold air return was not connected properly. It was sucking in insulation from the attic. They also said the furnace wasn't installed right. ARS always contends that it's my mothers house that is the problem and it's never their fault. They've had to come out three times to fix the registers. They are now telling her that the registers are decaying and she needs to replace them. She was told by three heating companies that she was charged way too much for what the furnace is worth. They came out to work on it one day, and it quit working at 2am. She had to stay up all night and suck water out with a turkey baster so her furnace would stay on. This has been going for over year, and nothing has been solved. It's been quite a nightmare.
Description of Work: They came out to replace my mothers furnace, and we agreed to have one put in. They also put in insulation and cleaned her registers.

First and foremost we would like to apologize for any inconvenience that we may have caused this member. It is our up most desire to provide each and every client with first class service. ARS has always been in constant contact with the member about the issues she is having with dust in her home. To our knowledge this issue still exists even after the other company found the duct work disconnected in the attic. Since the original installation date of the furnace ARS has sealed the duct work in the attic, completed a whole house duct cleaning on 3 separate occasions and also replaced the client’s air filter with an electronic air cleaner in hopes to resolve this issue. All this has been completed at no additional charge to the client. ARS will continue to work with the member to try and resolve this issue, at this point since the supply air duct work is installed under the concrete slab. ARS would like to return with a camera and inspect the duct work for possible damage or deterioration This inspection would be performed at no charge to the client. ARS would also like to respond to the statement the client made about paying too much for the furnace. The client states they were charged $8500 for the furnace installation. ARS records indicate the client was charged $5988 for the furnace installation plus an additional $725 to add insulation to the attic for a total of $6713. ARS offers a 100% Unconditional Money-Back Guarantee. It states as follows; if, within 30 days of your installation, any other company commits in writing to provide you with everything we have promised for less, on a like-for-like basis, then we will refund the difference plus give you an additional $100 – no questions asked.

They installed a new furnace in May of last year and then in the fall which was the beginning of Nov they came out to the fall service. We noticed a noise that wasn't there when it was installed and the service guy said we needed a part. We call and they haven't even ordered the part. We called two other times because the furnace is still under warranty. They took the message and never responding. We want this part on our furnace so it isn't noisy anymore. They have never called back.

I called them because I had no hot water. They said my hot water heater was cracked and needed to be replaced and it would cost $2300. I called someone else to check it since that sounded high. They came out and said it was not leaking. They reconnected something and turned the hot water back on and it is working fine. I did not need it replaced at all!!!
Description of Work: I did not have them perform the service because it was not necessary.

Upon researching this call, our technician found evidence there was a small leak coming from the tank causing the pilot light to go out and giving the customer no hot water. Our technician relit her pilot light at no charge and gave her a quote for her 75 gallon gas water heater to be replaced. ARS spoke with the customer trying to get more information from her as to what it was the other company reconnected and she was not sure what work they performed. A leak in the tank is not repairable and in our opinion her water heater will still need to be replaced. We are sorry she was not happy with our price however a 75 gallon water heater is considered to be a light duty commercial grade and are costly. We will be glad to send a field superivsor to her home to take another look at her water heater to confirm our technician’s diagnosis.

When I got my Citizens Gas bill I saw an increase in useage by 50% eventhough the past month was 28% warmer. I had Citizens Gas come out and check for leak. They found a substantial leak inside my house. The repair of the leak was my responsibility as it was inside my home. Fortunately I had taken out Utility Shield insurance through Citizens Gas. The insurance company had ARS come out and inspect the home. They located the leak the same day, but due to the amount of work required it took a 2nd day to get repaired. ARS laid a new gas line to a new panel of shut off valves, one for each appliance and one for the main line. Did not have this before. The house was built in 1955 and I believe this was the first time the in home gas line was fixed. I was very impressed with the quality of work performed. The installer Gerald Clay stayed patiently as we wairf 2-1/2 hours for Cotizens Gas man to come and inspect and re-light the appliances.
Description of Work: Had substantial gas leak inside my house. ARS installed a new gas line from the meter to the various appliances inside my home.

Called to obtain a quote; company suggested an in-home estimate. Sales technician who visited was VERY pushy, trying to upsell us on all kinds of HVAC extras, and taking more than an hour of our time. What's more, the final quote was easily the most expensive one we were offered.

He seemed very competent. He cleaned up nicely after himself. He gave a good rundown of what he found in the system which was all in really good shape.
Description of Work: We have a service contract with them. It covers two inspections a year for heating and air conditioning both. It gives us priority in case of an emergency for furnace repairs or whatever.

We decided we needed more insulation in our attic, so i started calling for quotes. ARS came out quickly and was very pleasant and informative. We needed souffit vents, which they didn't do. By the time we got them installed it was almost Dec. We will be mostly likely calling them in the spring t do the work.

lled back innumber of cuts he would have to maketallI had the weater heater installed the next day for $400 less. ARS was very un professional-- I could no relay on what they told me on the phone and what the serviceman did on site. I would never recommend ARS for any job--very unprofessional and very costly. Check them them out before calling them.
Description of Work: I have home warranty with AHS and they selected ARS to replace water heater. They called and setup appointment on 12/27 from 12 to 5 pm. On the 27th, we received call at 10:30 that they were on the way. At 2:00 pm I called ARS dispatcher to find out where they were. She called back in 15 minutes and said he realized that we needed a 78 gal heater and he needed help. Because of their workload they had to wait until an other reparman was available. Dispatcher called back at approximately 3:00 pm and said let'sescheduled to next day from 12 to 5 pm. Next day, I waited until approximately 3:30 pm and no repairman. I called dispatcher she said she would check. She called back in 10 minutes and said he was on the way. i asked if the water heater was on the truck and she said yes. Approximately 4:00 pm a service man showed up. He was by himself and I asked if he had the water heater on the truck and if others were coming to help him. he said no. He was looking at the job and the water heater would come later. He asked me to give him his $55 service fee. He then looked at the old water heater and he commented on the number of cuts they would have to make in order to replace the water heater. he then took the water pressure. he said it was about 80. He again asked for the $55 which I gave a credit card number. he the said he had to go to his truck and call AHS for authorization. In approximately 20 minutes he returned to the house and said the the water pressure was 84 lbs and it should be 70. Therefore it would cost me $940.00 to install a regulator which was over and above the heater and installing that AHS had authorized to repair. I told him to leave and I would have someonelse install it. My basement was wet from the leaking water heater and he was more concerned over the $55 and he had no water heater immediately available to install. No one in management was any where around to supervise this trouble service.

ARS did receive a service call through the customer’s home warranty company for his 75 gallon water heater that was leaking from the bottom. The customer’s home warranty company and ARS have guidelines that have to be followed. The technician is to collect the customer’s deductible before the technician even assesses the situation. ARS also has to honestly report the findings to the home warranty company who in turn will authorize or decline the repairs needed. Our technician found the water heater’s water pressure at 84lbs and Indiana Plumbing Code requires a Pressure Reducing Valve to reduce the water pressure to less than 80lbs. and a Thermal Expansion Tank to protect the water heater. ARS recommends water pressure to be around 70lbs. The home warranty company authorized the water heater to be installed as long as the customer made the repairs needed at his expense which he declined. In the quote given to the customer, a disposal fee of the old water heater also was included. Due to the size of the water heater, to protect the customer’s property and the safety of our technicians, ARS would have to have 3 technicians carry the old heater up an incline at the side of the house. The disposal fee of the water heater is optional to the customer. Due to the size of the water heater, the technician does not carry it on his truck however, ARS was ready to have it delivered to the customer’s residence with the additional labor help. We sincerely apologize to our valued customer for any inconvenience this may have caused the customer and hopes he understands ARS has guidelines that have to be followed.

We have been using them for a long time and we have a service agreement with them. The experience with them is excellent. They do plumbing and heating and they have done all of our heating and plumbing since our house was built. I keep going back to them because they are good. I have recommended them to a lot of people.
Description of Work: ARS / Rescue Rooter fixed a leak in the shower drain. We had a leak from our shower drain into our kitchen ceiling. We have a wood ceiling in our kitchen and he took out a wood panel, got up in there and replaced a pipe in the drain, and put the panel back.

I pay for maintenance contract yearly and I think it's around $137. They come out in spring and then the beginning of winter. They do the air conditioning in the spring and then in the winter time they go through the furnace to make sure that everything is okay.

The heat is more efficient than it has been since the mid 80's. Thank god for sending professional, responsive and knowledgeable workers to help me.
Description of Work: ARS / Rescue Rooter Indiana - They inspected an Ottie heating unit for the purpose of lighting the porch but found a crack in the heat exchange, therefore that required the new furnace. They removed the old lemugs (word not clear) and put in a Bryan and Mady. (some words were not clear).

Hot water heater was replaced by Tech. Donny Thurman, I thought he did an excellent job considering, he was the only one doing the work. He was very courteous, and professional. They gave a call before coming out, he wore shoe coverings, gave the whole house a plumbing inspection which I thought was a good Idea. The Tech. really took his time and made sure the job was done right. The price I thought was a little high, although, what isn't these days? Overall.. Great Job!!

The two-member team arrived punctually, but had to leave to pick up some equipment they'd forgotten. Said they'd be gone just a few minutes, but were gone over an hour, which made me late returning to work. Other than that, the installation proceeded according to plan. They did a rudimentary cleanup afterward. I had to request that they write on the invoice the applicable warrantly information since they didn't have anything in writing on the contract (and I've had issues with this company before honoring warranties). He initially said 10 year parts / 5 year labor warranty, but then wrote down 5 year parts / 10 year labor. When I called him on it, he said, "He mispoke." Since they'd already made me late, I didn't want to delay any further to clear up the issue, so I paid the invoice and sent a follow-up inquiry to the management on the correct statement of warranty.

They were calling to conform appointment and then arrived to my home which is awesome. Said what steps they were doing and showed me new equipment as they got it all off truck. Very polite, couldn't get them to stop for a break for a drink. They stick to their guns till finish of job and clean the mess. I am going to use them again, I have a second home.

I asked about a better quality up grade in the water heater from the free water tank the Home Warranty service was going to offer and if they would also honor an Angie's list coupon. The up grade was another $150, but did offer a 6yr parts and labor warranty and yes they honored the coupon too. This brought the quality and warranty coverage up and the price down from around $800 to about $665. They were able to schedule us the next day and the work was done quickly and cleanly.
Description of Work: Our water heater rusted out and started leaking, on a weekend of course. We called our home warranty company and they called ARS who showed up on a Monday afternoon. They assessed our need and then told us we had 2 code violations. I called around and yes, they were correct and not trying to add extras to the price.

See above. ARS choose to NOT do the right thing and hide behind American Home Shield and NOT refund my $60 fee. They do NOT care about the mistake their plumber made and my experience with their company. 11/3/11 - After arguing my point with ARS, they were nice enough to refund my 60$
Description of Work: ARS came out to my house to investigate a bad odor in my house (in response from American Home Shield request). The plumber told me their was water in my crawl space, most likely from a leak in the foundation or faulty exterior hose faucet (both of which are NOT covered by American Home Shield). Therefore, I had to fix the problem myself and soon discovered that the plumber had been too lazy to fully investigate the problem. The real root cause of my bad smell was a garbage disposal drain line that had NOT been properly glued and could have been fixed by ARS. Consequently I had to pay $60 for a mis-diagnosis and had to fix the rotting food and water issue myself. 11/3/11 - After arguing my point with ARS, they were nice enough to refund my 60$

Service Technician was personable, able, knowledgeable and trustworthy. He offered to perform other checks while he was there and gave good explanations of what was going on.

Technicians called ahead, came when expected, outlined what they needed to do. They asked if we had questions, and began the work. They informed us of things as they went on, went over the system, and cleaned up afterwards.
Description of Work: Installed new heating system. Used Angie's list coupon and service agreement coupon to lower price. The two technicians had an aura of confidence and I was impressed on how the lead technician could configure the installation to the configuration of our garage.
