They insist that I used them in the past (I may have, I don't recall) but they are doing a calling campaign to drum up business for the spring AC tune up time. One call is fine, but I've gotten 4. If you are going to spam call people, get a working database that doesn't allow duplication. Beware of getting your information in their files.

Description of Work: I needed a Delta kitchen faucet replaced. I advised ARS at the time I called for service what I needed and the model number. Plumber showed up about 9:00am, he removed the old one, then disappeared for several hours. ARS advised he was looking for a replacement, but couldn't find any. An hour later the plumber called and said he couldn't locate a Delta, could order one but it would take 2-3 weeks to get it, but could replace it with a Moen. At this point, I needed something so said that would be fine. Another hour or two later, he called and said he couldn't purchase one because he didn't have a credit card or whatever he needed. I had to keep calling ARS to find out where the plumber was and why he was gone for hours. I ended up going to Lowe's to purchase the faucet myself. By this time it was 5:00pm. He eventually showed up and charged me $249 to make a 10 minute installation of the faucet. I thought that was outrageous, especially since I had to go purchase the faucet myself, had water turned off in thekitchen all day, and this job took from 9:00am to after 5:00pm to complete. I called multiple other plumbers afterward and asked them what they'd charge - all were under $75 since I had the faucet. One said he'd charge $49 for a simple installation. Delta Faucet said they'd replace the faucet free since it was defective. The plumber told me he would would charge about $300 for that at particular model. ARS should have known the model wasn't available locally and the faucet could be replaced at no charge since it was defective. They should have been prepared for the service call. I've used ARS for years and had good experiences with them. This is the first time I've really been disappointed with their service and their charges. I'd use them again, but not for plumbing. The plumber said $249 was a standard book price. None of the other plumbers I called told me that. If he'd found the Delta faucet, he would have charged me $549 for a simple installation. I didn't get a return call from ARS when I questioned the charge.

+ 0 moreI pay $174 which includes two visits per year. They took over from Carter. I purchased this unit from Cater and then ARS came in and bought them out. Carter was excellent. I've had lots of trouble with ARS but this is all under warranty. They've done a lot of work under warranty on this unit. There was a problem on the installer when they first installed the unit. I feel like ARS is always trying to sell me something. I had them out once for plumbing and they were just extremely expensive. I would not hire them except if the unit is on warranty. I would shop better around because of the cost. Thy do good work but they are very expensive. I've used ARS to find another plumber that I like very well, he charged us a lot less. They are very responsive.
Description of Work: I used ARS / Rescue Rooter Indiana just before the winter started for routine maintenance of my heat pump heater unit.

Description of Work: We had a mystery backup of sewage into our upstairs bathroom tub at 10:30 at night. It was disgusting and the whole house smelled like sewage. We called Roto Rooter and they had no idea what to do. The next morning we called ARS and they sent someone out as soon as they could. They were slightly confused as well but the man they sent out was determined to find the cause of the issue. After going at it for 3 1/2 hours, he pulled a rag out of the plumbing that was 15 feet deep into the wall! He cleaned up his mess well and kept communication going the entire time of the next attempt he was going to try. They are fantastic! I will use them again if we need to (hopefully not), and recommond them to anyone in need of an excellent and experienced plumber.

+ -1 moreARS called me (no idea how they got my cell number) and offered a $39 routine maintenance for my furnace. I hadn't had it done yet so I scheduled. Twice before they came out but after I had agreed to do it someone called to try to sell me on what I'd already bought which was irritating. Then they came out and did a fine job. After they left the phone calls started in earnest. I was called no less than 7 times over the course of the following week by people trying to sign my up for their 'deal' that I had just had performed. And an additional 2 times to ask how my experience had gone. Despite my repeatedly telling them to take my number off their list - that I'd already had the service performed, they kept calling. It's like they keep no records whatsoever - nor do they listen to their customers apparently. The actual work they did was fine but their customer service and record keeping is terrible. If I receive any more calls I will report them to the BBB and block their number - it's ridiculous.

The tech said it needed a new sewage pump and gave us a quote. Really really interested in having us spend money on a new pump. We had him we thought fix the toilet and leave. The next day we come down to our basement with 2 inches of water standing. We call a different plumber who says that the water should have been turned off at the toilet and nothing was wrong with the sewage pump, it had be turned in a way sideways that it wouldn't work. We then had to call in someone to clean and drive the basement (5,000) and our insurance has a $1000 deductible. Never use these clowns.

They came back out in December and did not charge that time. 2 weeks ago they said they were going to refund it, but that hasn't happened yet. The service men that have come to my home are very nice, my problem is with the office staff. They quoted $619 for my sump pump, but I found someone else on Angie's LIst that did it for $400.
Description of Work: They replaced a water heater. They gave me a senior discount, but they charged a service fee after the discount.

+ -1 moreMy furnace was not blowing heat and only the fan would work. I was under the assumption that the whole furnace had to be replaced. I searched for a reliable company and called ARS. This was an urgent situation, and they acted and responded as such. Lloyd Lynkens, the certified heat exchanger expert was there almost instantly (with in the hour of my call). Once he showed up, he went straight to work in diagnosing the problem. He found the problem, explained the problem and gave me options and a quote to fix the problem with in 15 minutes of arriving. After he gave the quote, we gave him the green light to perform the work and he completed the job with professional integrity. He even honored the free service call coupon. These guys are serious about business and I can appreciate that with a great deal of respect. Thanks for the making a terrible situation and good experience.

+ 0 moreThey came about one hour after our emergency call. By then we had stopped using any laundry, shower or sink so the overflow had stopped. Jason said it was a mainline clog. He was friendly and clean. At midnight he ran a line from the outside to inside. Since this didn't fix it, he asked if he could come back the next morning to finish. I wasn't happy about that since we couldn't shower or flush, plus I had to take off work to be there. Jason came back the next morning around 11. He removed the toilet and cleared the clog quickly. I wish he would have done that the night before. However, one day later we were experiencing the same issues again. We called ARS again in the evening (no water usage available again). The receptionist said they had no emergency technicians available that night but scheduled for the morning. I was not happy! A different plumber came around 11 and fixed the clog by running an outside line again. Apparently it wasn't cleared the first 2 times. There was no new charge, but I sure wish this was done right the first night we called.
Description of Work: I called ARS late one night when our main floor toilet was overflowing when we used ANY water in our house! We had sewage coming into our bathroom.

+ -1 moreI originally hired Home Depot to replace my counter tops and install a new sink and faucet. They sent a plumber who said the parts to install the sink were missing, and they'd have to come back. I had already taken a day off to be around for the plumbers to show up, they said they would have to come back the next day, because the local hardware store didn't have the part. He said I'd have to order a brand new garbage disposal to get the part. They didn't show the next day, and when I called the dispatcher, he said he'd call back the next day, and never did. Finally, I couldn't wait any longer with an out of order kitchen sink. I checked the reviews on Angie's List and found ARS. I scheduled a time through the convenient website. ARS showed up, friendly, and on time. He explained it was a more complicated sink, but he had all the parts, no new garbage disposal was needed, he simply had to modify the drains for the depth of the sink. It was fixed in no time and has been great! I will keep them as my first choice for all future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Had ARS come in and clean up the mess the Home Depot crew left. They were great, explained the problem, explained the fix, and completed the work on a weekend. I didn't have to miss a day of work, and wait around all day for a "block" of time they might show up. They called before they came, showed up at the time we scheduled. They had all the parts needed to finish the job with them, and didn't waste any time.

+ -1 moreAt first our initial gut feeling was that perhaps the serviceman was being a bit opportunist in telling us we needed a new system. But upon further discussion he illustrated what he was telling us was wrong. Just by chance his supervisor came by for an unannounced quality check. The serviceman did not know he was coming before hand. The supervisor confirmed the findings and told us that it was possible to get by, but after next year we would not be able to get the freon gas for our system and that we would then need to replace it regardless. With the repair that we were needeing to put in, it became a question if we were going to put that much money into a system that would not be able to be supported after another year. With the application of current promotion specials and coupons, we were able to cut off $1,500 from the price. This was also an added deciding factor that the supervisor did not have to offer us, but did.
Description of Work: During our regular scheduled maintenance and cleaning, we discovered some issues that needed to be addressed. We decided that rather than put more money into the old furnace we would just replace it. We had a consultation as to what products were available and what would be best for our needs. We made a decision and the very next day the company had a team here in the morning and it was installed by noon. The two service men were very professional, worked quickly and afterwards walked us through everything we needed to know about the new heat pump system (our first experience with one). They helped us with programming the new thermostat and made sure we understood it before they left. They cleaned up after themselves and left things better than what they found it.

+ -1 moreBoth times, they never showed on the date and time scheduled. I had to call to see where they were at as they were not there at the time we stayed home to wait for them. One said the technician was running late and they would need to reschedule. and the other claimed we were not on the list, but I verified it twice with them to ensure the date and time after the 1st instance. Technicians were polite when they did arrive but not adequately trained as they tried to get us to buy a replacement part in the humidifier at $250 and all it needed was to be unscrewed and cleaned out where the calcium built up. I knew this as a previous technician showed me. When they were a smaller organization years ago, we got quality service and polite assistance when we called. We finished out our contract but did not renew this year after 4 or more years with them.
Description of Work: Service contract for 1 annual checkup on furnace and 1 annual checkup on air conditioner. cleaning filers, checking pilots, cooling fluid, etc.

The installer Tom was a real pro as you could tell he had replaced hundreds of heating and AC units. I am very picky on installation work and I have to say that I could not have been happier.

+ -1 moreThe technician arrived fairly quickly and was able to remove the clog even though it was a stubborn one. We have young children who asked a lot of questions and he was very patient and answered them all. We were concerned about time because we had tickets to an event later that afternoon. He worked hard to ensure he was done and out in plenty of time for us to make it to the event on time.
Description of Work: On a Sunday afternoon we discovered we had a clog that was causing our washing machine to back up into the kitchen sink. We called ARS who we have used in the past and the technician came over right away to help remove the clog.
