+ 0 moreThe entire experience with ARS has been a disappointment. The air conditioning does not work as well as what we had installed previously. In spite of many visits from technicians and "experts" we have given up on finding a solution through ARS and have hired another contractor. For example, ARS told us we needed attic fans. We installed the attic fans and were still not getting satisfactory cooling on our second level. The contractor we hired after two years of trying to get a resolution from ARS told us that the units we had were installed improperly and were not the correct units. The air duct cleaning, while perhaps being a good thing to do, caused problems with our zone heating and cooling system.
Description of Work: We decided to proactively install new heating and cooling, as ours were not very efficient and there were tax incentives to do so at the time. ARS also convinced us to have our air ducts cleaned as part of the process.

They are very polite and I have not had any difficulties with this company at all. They are reliable and always call ahead to tell me that they are going to be a little late or on time. They are a little pricey but I get what I pay for.
Description of Work: I use ARS all the time. The last time that I used them was for the semi-annual air conditioner check up. They come twice a year for that. They have done a lot of work for me including plumbing, putting in a new furnace, new air conditioning, new water heater, and a water softener.

They are familiar with our house and that is a valuable tool. I would give them an A, because we wouldn't keep using them if they didn't do a good job. We use them every year.
Description of Work: We have a service contract with ARS / Rescue Rooter Indiana 8404. They come out twice a year to check the furnace and the air conditioner. They inspect, clean, and replace any parts that are needed to make the furnace and air conditioner run properly.

+ 0 morePlumber was punctual, professional and friendly. He explained what was done at each step when asked. ARS will give me $195 discount in the future, if I buy/install a new water heater through them. Overall, it is value for money if home owner does not have the time or DIY expertise to flush a water heater and change out the anode rod themselves. In my opinion, an ordinary striaght magniseum rod (instead of higher priced flexible version) would have sufficed as I had lots of height clearance above the water heater). ARS only had the flexible version so I went with it after some thought. I would have given ARS an "A" rating for price catergory if they had the straight rod version as an option. Knew web price for straight magnesium rods were $30-50 while the flexible versions were $70-100 (depending on size/quality/brand etc). Gave ARS "A" in all other categories. Essentially, I "paid" $100 (i.e. $195 minus the cost of the commercial quality magnesium anode, if bought online) for the professional labour and peace of mind. Will consider the same plumber in the future.
Description of Work: Paid total of $195 for slightly more than an hour of work and parts: 1) check whole house plumbing, 2) 50 gallon water heater maintenace (i.e. 5-10 minute flush of water heater and took out old aluninium anode rod), and 3) install new flexible magnesium anode rod.

+ -1 moreThis was a horrible experience. I had a Friday appoitment from 4-6 pm. By 7:30 pm I had called and cancelled because nobody had contacted me yet from the company. The next appointment, the guy showed up and was very nice and helpful. However, he was unable to give me a real estimate and scheduled someone to come Monday morning to give me the real estimate. Monday came and went and nobody showed up nor called. I called ARS on Tuesday and scheduled someone to come the next week for the estimate. Noticing that I was pretty unhappy, ARS sent someone out (and he actually showed up on time!) who said he was unable to give me an estimate because he would need a plumber to come out and look at my plumbing first. He said he'd bring the plumber back the next morning and could give me an estimate then. As far as I know, nobody showed up. I did not get a call nor a note saying anything. Although this was all free to me, my time is far more valuable than what ARS seems to realize.
Description of Work: I originally wanted someone to video inspect my main sewer line. Then, I wanted an estimate for replumbing the pipes under my house.

In changing out an air duct, one of the vents was not secure so insulation and dust got into the air, we think they should have covered the furniture. In the process of the insulation and dust in getting into the air they did cover the furniture but it was late for that. They provided a cleaning service to clean that up. We have a service agreement with them. The overall quality would be an A but with the dust and insulation getting on everything hindered the grade.
Description of Work: They replaced all the ducts and rerouted some, updated A/C unit, new coil, fastened and caulked ceiling vents, repaired and replaced heat runs for the sunroom, and put in more insulation.

+ 2 moreWhen you are without water nothing can be good, especially at our age. Seemed like a long time to repair but I don't have any prior experience with this plumbing problem. Suggest have a back up plan for this type of emergency. Hoping this will be the last of my plumbing problems for quite a while. Interestingly I have read on line of people getting senior discounts from ARS. None was offered to me. But again, I needed the job done. They are not bad or dishonest. They just don't recognize the stress that we go through. I would also recommend that ARS give a final "walk around" inside and outside on a project like this. I had to ask and got a two minute check of my faucets, etc. BUT again, the workers were very tired.
Description of Work: Actually, leak was detected first by Citizen's Water, Indianapolis, and confirmed by location on property by American Leak Detection. The cost of their service was $275.00 (add that to the $3160.000 charged by ARS). Suggest that people should get other estimates if possible. We are senior citizens and were just thinking "fix the problem". ARS was also working next door. So it was a matter of convenience also. ARS explained the action plan but took more than one day to complete. Put in new line. Heavy equipment brought on my property to dig soil and pull line. Equipment also backed on my neighbor's property and I expect to repair that for them. I have major ruts through my lawn and am of course concerned about my existing irrigation system and how much damage (in fairness if any) was done that I may also have to have repaired. Weather they endured was extreme. They assisted with insurance claim which was not accepted by our insurance company. They agreed to help repair the lawn and my neighbor's lawn. I was not charged. They agreed to repair any damage to my irrigation system in the excavation area. I will know when it is finally turned on. Remaining concern is pieces of white plastic pipe found in the excavation site. One piece was given to the technician who surveyed the damage to the lawn. I have another piece of white plastic pipe. Under the site and discussed and shown to me by a technician during the original excavation was a white plastic pipe about 4' below surface with a cap on it. My fear is that it is something important and it may have been damaged. I am sure that responsibility will be mine. I'm not a plumber but I saw what I saw and I have seen what I have found.
