ARS / Rescue Rooter Indiana

I had purchased a Big Deal for this company. When they came out they quoted me an additonal $150 on top of what I had already paid for the deal, and the project only took them 1 hour to complete. The price seemed very high to me for the amount of work I needed done.

They are always very prompt and if they get held up on another job, they always call. They fixed the leak in the pipe and didn't charge more than it should have cost. We discussed a tankless water heater, they gave us a quote and we decided to go with it. They came out and installed it on Saturday and didn't charge more for the weekend. We have used them for years for service on our furnace and A/C. I highly recommend them.

This was a very basic service that in hindsight could have been done by any reasonably competent homeowner. The main draw was the water heater flush which I knew was overdue. The biggest plus was watching him do this simple procedure so I can do it myself the next time. The plumber then walked around the exterior of the house to check the outside faucets and then through the interior for the sinks, toilets and showers. The "comprehensive inspection" simply involved turning on the faucets and seeing if there were any leaks when draining. No big deal. He did check water temperature and pressure initially as well. Other comments: He was nice enough and answered my questions as I followed him around. He did not try to upsell any services which was nice. We were given a four hour window and the they couldn't make that which is disappointing. They did at least call at hour 3 to say they would be late. Most plumbers overcharge in my opinion and many tend to refer to their standard price list even for the simplest jobs. As a result, I'm not a big fan in general. We've had the best luck with Village Plumbing (now Service Experts) in Broadripple and would probably use them for future needs. At least with the Big Deal, I didn't have to spend to much this time.

In 2003, I had a new heat pump installed by the predecessor of this company, which was Air-Trol. In 2011, I had a compressor replaced under warranty by ARS and Carrier. It was a fight to get this done because ARS was resistant to honor the 10-year warranty I had under the Air-Trol installation. I've maintained a semiannual maintenance service contract with ARS in large part because I was afraid the warranty on the new compressor would not be honored if I switched to a new maintenance contract. I've become increasingly suspicious about ARS because every time they come to check my heat pump, they try to sell me services/products I do not want or need. On April 1, two ARS servicemen came out for my spring checkup, rescheduled from a week earlier, when they got behind and I couldn't wait for them, and an hour late from the time they were scheduled to arrive on the new date. First one, then the other, tried to sell me "comfort" products like humidifiers and ultraviolet lights that I repeatedly said I did not want or need. They asked me how I would rate the performance of my heat pump. I said, A+ because I'd had no problems during a difficult winter and the last two checkups. Two hours pass, much of which they were either on the cell phone or talking to each other, and I finally got impatient and asked them to complete the inspection and give me a receipt. They returned 10 minutes later with a recommendation for $2500 worth of repairs, including a new compressor, which this same company had replaced under warranty three years ago. I made it clear to them that this sudden failure of my 3-year-old "new" compressor was highly suspicious. I then tried to contact ARS to cancel my monthly subscription to their service contact, and they "conveniently" waited 4 days to return to my call so that another month's payment was posted to my account, and they didn't even ask why I wanted to cancel. I've lost all trust in this company and would not recommend that others purchase their services.

It was easy to schedule the appointment and the tech showed up on time and was friendly and professional. He said my softener was functioning fine. I did not watch what he did for the tune up. Again, he was very professional so I presume he did what was covered by the service.

Very respectful friendly guy showed up and did what was needed. It went fine as we have a 2 year old system. He did not try to sell us other services. The only complaint I have is that the company now has an 8-12 window for when they will arrive. They used to have 8-10, now this eats up most of morning just waiting.

Not good. First appointment was a no call no show. I had to call them to let them know no one showed up. Took hour and a half for a supervisor to call me back. Re scheduled for the next day, jobs very high quote priced. I would say over double what they should be. so I ended up paying 99.00 to have a shower head replaced and a bathroom sink drain fixed. i would not recommend to anyone. Total waste of money.

The company was very friendly, polite, and on time. The problem was that they do not work on Mobile Homes.

Went very well. Was very honest with me. Even tho nothing really needed to be done, except for checking for bed bugs they did an awesome job. I would have them come back any time. I do not remember the date they came to my house tho.

It was excellent when it comes to the men coming out to do the work. The only problem I have is with the billing department.

The installer did an excellent job. My problem was that I purchased $200 of work for $99 with an Angie's Big Deal. Silly me, I thought I could get at least 2 faucets installed for my $99. ARS' price to install ONE faucet was $333! Thus, it cost me $133 in addition to the $99 I paid for the big deal. It took less than an hour for the plumber to remove my old fixture and install the new one that I purchased. I had bought 3 faucets to replace, but since the installation price was so high, I installed the other two myself. As previously stated, I was very satisfied with the quality and efficiency of the installer. I have a huge problem with paying anyone $232 for an hour's work. The Angie's Big Deal was a major ripoff!

Great working with ARS. My home warranty company uses them and I am always completely satisfied with their work. Their plumbers seem experienced and knowledgeable and get to the heart of any problem

Estimate for repair to water heater was too expensive. The parts only cost $27 from Lowes. In hte end my husband installed the new element himself. We felt a $450 labor cost for less than an hours work was too high. To their credit ARS did not charge a call out fee and the manager I spoke to (after several transfers) was helpful.

I called at 8 am and was given a morning appointment slot, which was surprising since the weather was bad all over Central Indiana, but the woman assured me it was possible. Then we got repeated calls postponing, until finally, a call at dinnertime that they would definitely be here by 9 pm. I double checked that since that's late for some poor guy/gal to be out clearing drains, but she was adamant they'd be here. They never came, so it became another night of little sleep as we get up to pump the standing water lapping at our furniture. I completely understand it was an extremely heavy volume day with numerous emergencies just like ours and pipes can only be fixed so fast, but an honest reply that they wouldn't be able to get to us would have been light years ahead of the constant promises that we were next on the list. Had I known, I would have called another service and not wasted an entire day on them.

They did a really great job. It was winter when they did the work, so there was some damage and clean up that they could not do right away, but as soon as they were able to they came out and cleaned everything up.

They were very professional, arrived on time and did everything they said they would do. While they were here I asked for a quote on a water heater and new sump pump. Their price was considerably higher than others so I used another source to purchase these products.

The serviceman came earlier than planned. He kept trying to sell me everything he could, and told me he would leave me a pricelist of things, but never did.

I would use this business again and recommend them highly.

After the install the a/c fan ran for two hours straight and then cut off for five minutes and the ran for another two hours straight. The first tech told me it needed a new air filter. He changed that and we still had the same problem. When I called and told them it took them two weeks to send a second tech who fixed the blower problem, but the humidifier wouldn't work They sent another tech to change a circuit board. They determined the circuit board was bad and they needed a new one. They replaced the board and found the second one was bad too. Finally they replaced the entire humidifier. So, in the end it too them almost an entire year to get this system to operate properly. |

I had my sewer drain back-up in my basement on 02/11/14. The water that pooled around the drain slowly receeded that day. The same thing happened on 02/12/14. I think I made an appointment on 02/12 for the next day. The plumber quoted $252 to clear the line and get a free visual inspection, I received a $25 discount because I have a Home Service Plan with ARS and another $25 off with a coupon. The plumber ran a cable from my basement clean-out 100 feet multiple times to clear a root blockage and ran water for 20 minutes to ensure the line was open. The plumber contacted a Sales Specialist before he left to schedule the visual inspection. The Sales Specialist contacted me and arrived the same day and ran a camera through the sewer line revealing tree roots that were enterring my line at several joints. The Sales Specialist quoted me 2 options for repair: Option #1 was to install an exterior clean-out with a back water valve for over $3000, Option #2 was to replace the line with new line from inside the house and out to the yard using a pipe bursting method for over $6000. The clearing of the line has a 90 day warranty, the quotes for repair had a 30 day expiration. I have chosen not to repair the line at this time, although I am aware it will need to be done eventually. This is the first time I have had to deal with this issue, one more thing for my to-do list.

The service and product was fine, however they stepped through my ceiling during the installation. The problem I have with them is it took 6 months for them to complete the fixing of the mistake and I had to call them at least 8 times to get it completed.

We had a good experience and there was no problem. We just have something we needed to look at and they took care of it.

They came out to open a drain line but they explained it wouldn't work toward the big deal. I was disappointed that this didn't work for the big deal, so I had to pay $89 for about 10 minutes of work. The work I want done to use the big deal involves an outdoor faucet, so I have to wait for the weather to get better.

We were given a 4 hour window and tech Darin showed up late and with no intention to fix our problem but sell us plumbing we didn't need and talked a lot. Assumed our problem without proper inspection. Luckily we got a second opinion and was a completely different issue and much cheaper. Unprofessional to waste people's time and insult our intelligence.

John came on time, but no advance call. He had been given the name of the person who lived at our address 2-years before, dispite our having sent contact information when signing up for Angie's Big Deal. John was pleasant and cautious. He was concerned about the possible breaking of the drain pipe in one tub--so offered an alternative that would have to be done another day. John completed the work on the second replacement. He cleaned up the repair. When he returned to replace the first drain, he brought a tool that he hadn't carried the first time. The new tool loosened the drain without breaking the pipe. It would have save time for both of us, had he had the tools needed for the work requested. I thought the front office had not communicated well with John regarding the customer name , or that we had an Angie's Big Deal. I also thought the price was high. Still, John was professional and accomplished the work and I would consider using them again in the future.
