We had a 14 year old electric furnace and air conditioner that needed to be replaced due to some expensive repairs that were needed. Scott Sanborn with ARS came out and spent about 2 hours covering our options. We decided to convert to a gas furnace and air conditioner. Scott worked out the financing and scheduled installation the following week. Installation was completed by Robert and his team as scheduled. The whole project was a learning experience for both me and for the ARS team. We learned that converting from electric to gas is a major change and I learned a little about our new system. We also learned that behind Scott is an entire team of technicians dedicated to making the system work properly and to meet our expectations. Lastly, we were reminded that with any major project, stuff happens and to trust that it will be promptly taken care of by the ARS team. In our opinion, the ARS team learned a little bit about the importance of proper gas pressure and about making sure that the condensation tubing really is connected to the drain. The installation process was completed in two days. The things that really impressed us were that Robert and his installation team were professional and courteous. They were really careful not to let our cats out of the house while dragging equipment and tools in and out. Robert had to come back the second day to install the correct size of gas pipe and finish the installation. Lastly they left our basement clean following installation so we had no clean-up to do. Brandon Perry came out to adjust the gas pressure and get the furnace working the way IT wanted to work. Allen Lee came out to attach the condensation tube that was somehow detached so that we didn’t have water coming out of the unit. Both of these gentlemen were apologetic and knew their trade. Most of all we were impressed with Scott Sanborn. During the decision about what to buy, he shared his knowledge but was never pushy. He didn’t offer his advice until we had made a decision and asked for his input. During the installation Scott came out and provided some guidance to Robert relative to where the exhaust pipes should be placed and what size gas pipe was needed. He called and e-Mailed us following the installation. The system wasn’t exactly right so we texted Scott once for the system “over heating” and once when we had some water coming out of the unit. Both times Scott not only got a technician to our house the same day but with the “over heating” he came with Brandon to get it fixed. When Allen came out to fix the leak, Scott was on the phone with him. We were blessed to have Scott Sanborn guide us through this project and he is blessed to have the ARS team supporting him.

ARS has an Angie's List "deal" for $89. When I talked to ARS they claimed the 'deal' was not for residences - houses or apartments, but only for commercial businesses. The 'deal description does not say that.

Once again ARS has canceled a maintenance appointment on my air conditioner. I bought the system from ARS (along with the furnace and hot water heater), but every year they cancel my maintenance appointment. Last year I took the day off to get this appointment done because they give you 4 hour windows for your appointment. They called 2 hours into the window to cancel my appointment. A day of vacation time lost for it! So, this year I had my sister who works evening shift come so I wouldn't have to take all morning off and what they CANCELED the appointment AGAIN! They called 12 minutes into the 4 hour window to cancel the appointment! Way to go ARS! Make appointments and NEVER show up for them!

I placed order through Home Depot. I promised the house purchaser that I will do the maintenance for both AC and Furnace. This company called me one day ahead to cancel the order without no reason. BAD BAD BAD!

I scheduled a service call for my AC which was on the fritz. They told me the tech would be at my house between 10-4. So far, so normal for an HVAC appointment. I took the day off from the office so that I could be home when they got to the house, only to be called at 10:30 to tell me that our call had been "kicked off" (their EXACT words) the schedule in favor of people who had signed up for their service plan. They then told me to schedule out for the next day, and I told them I'd be taking my business to Mr. Quik. I understand giving service plan customers priority - they do pay extra for it, after all - but that does not make it acceptable to call and cancel an appointment AFTER a customer has made plans to be there for the appointment. Absolutely ridiculous, and will never use them for any HVAC or plumbing issues again.

Generally, all went smoothly. Was a bit pricier than we had budgeted and electrical portion was a bit of a snag. However, overall very pleased with responsiveness, personnel, equipment, professionalism, work performed and cleanup. Cost of service quoted below is actually equipment and labor. Would definitely recommend this company.

We have a service contract with them. They come and check all things on furnace 3x’s year . Replace filter etc. is ordering a new part to replace one that has been questionable for several months. Will be returning as scheduled to repair/replace. Good service always.

I called them in the morning and they sent a technician early afternoon. He had to dig up the pipe and replace it. The pipe had ice in it so the pump was unable to pump out the water from the pit. He made sure it was working before he left. He was very professional.

They could fix the problem. I had a problem there and it's still not been resolved. I had a call into the service manager and he's not been responding so that's not a good thing. They've always been punctual.

We weren't happy at first because we had to call them up a couple times to get rid of the splashing on the wall. The system was installed correctly, it was just one minor thing. They were very responsive.

Excellent job. I knew it was time to replace the old smoke detectors and was very pleased with my Nest thermostat and decided to add the Nest smoke detectors to my home (called Nest Protect). The technician arrived right on time and patiently helped me program the Nest Protect devices to my smart phone Nest app. Since I was replacing wired devices, I opted to have the new units professionally installed and was glad I made that decision since the entire process took over two and one-half hours to complete. Have had the units for about a week and they work perfectly and I remain satisfied with the investment. Nest had designated ARS as an "elite" installer, meaning customers have the option of purchasing the units through the installer, rather than through Nest directly or at another store. The advantage is the two-year warranty is extended to five years. While the cost per unit is more, the actual increase was just a little more than $1.50 per month/per unit. Well worth it, in my opinion for the three extra year of parts and labor. Not an inexpensive investment, but when you are doing your best to protect your home, this was intimately a no brainer.
Description of Work: Installed six, new wired Nest Protect smoke detector/CO units, replacing six, 18-year-old devices.

They came out for a special for $59 to do the service. When he went out to the air condition he said that the freon but it pureon. He said I was down on the freon 2 lbs I can't remember almost 3 lbs. I said why would it be leaking preon, he told me he did all the check on system and couldn't find any leaks. He said to tell you the truth to be honest and I'm not trying to point any fingers, i'm thinking the last person that checked your air conditioner did get it tight, They take the cap off to check the pressure on the freon. He said they didn't get that tighten back but that was another company that put the furnace for me. I showed him the invoice the guy showed me on my furnace. I said "i'm a little concerned this is the second time ARS has been out here" I said when I have had other people check the furnace it hasn't cost me so much. It was like 500 and something dollars and I was expect it to be $59. So I was kind of between a rock and a hard place because if I had them come back out later and put the freon in or get somebody else, I was going to have to pay a service fee plus the freon. So, he told me I an't remember it was how much for the first pan and after. I don't feel like I will be using ARS this year. They were courteous but I don't have anyway of knowing if someone really keep the cap off that air conditioner. I'm sure it leaked out someway. Or could of been the year before that the people left it off.The service was fine it's just it wasn't my expectation to be paying ten times what I was going to pay. The guy that did the service was nice he was thorough. He was a manager he explained to me he was going to talk to the guy. I have no way of knowing if it needed, he just showed me reading for the pureon. What they did the quality they were very clean he put things on his shoes. He took the time to explain things to me. For the quality of the work my house is cool.

I'm not sure I will call them again. When they were here the guy wrote on the invoice needs new furnace. I asked him what he means because there's nothing wrong with my furnace. It's about 10 years old and when I asked him what do you mean I need a new furnace. He said well we tell people that when a furnace is getting to that 10 year mark. I told him I got the upgrade for a new furnace and I was told that with regular maintenance it would last me a lot longer and so I'm a little bit not understanding why you said I need new furnace when there's nothing wrong with it. He said well we just like to let people know ahead of time that if the furnace is 10 or older we just like remind them that it's reaching it's longevity. I told him that's fine but it's a pretty bold statement to say needs new furnace. When I showed the invoice to the manager he said he shouldn't have written that on there. He said he would talk to him and he said he should have just noted that the furnace was 10 years old. It's nothing than they did, other than writing on there about needing a new furnace. I'm ok with the service they provided. I think their pricing was high. The guy was very personable. The service was fine.
