 + -1 moreMike S., the technician arrived as scheduled. He thoroughly checked my cooling system. After discovering that the system was not cooling to specifications, he cleaned and checked the outside unit. In the process he found that the unit was low on refrigerant. He added refrigerant to the system, thereby fixing the cooling issue. Mike was very helpful in explaining the cooling operation and answered all my questions and concerns. He made some recommendations regarding adding an electronic air cleaning screen in addition to cleaning the air ducts, both which I plan to do in the near future. My air conditioner is doing a wonderful job cooling my home now. I can surely feel the difference. Thank you Mike S and ARS for a job well done.!! Very, very satisfied !!!!!

Description of Work: The first name of the man who came out from ARS is James. We heard a sound in our wall upstairs on the second floor. It sounded like water and/or pipes moving (a somewhat constant strange sound). It was hard to figure it out. So, we decided to start with ARS to see if it might be a plumbing problem. James came in and was not sure what it was but checked some possibilities. He said it could not be water as it was not in that location. He went outside and looked at the roof and found out the problem. There was a bee nest on our roof, next to a dormer. He said it was at the right location for the location of the sound in the wall. He figured it out pretty quickly and, since he was here only a few minutes, he did not charge us anything. Since we knew what the problem was (it was not leaking water or pipes ready to burst) but a bee hive that had made a home inside or wall. Thank you!! Then we knew who to contact to take care of the problem--a pest control person. Thank you, James, for being such a nice and helpful person.

water softeners
 + -1 moreInstead they made the appointment, then I had never heard from them. Then they told me that they couldn't honor it and that Angie's List should not have ever run the deal. They said they did not work on the kind of water softener I had, even though nothing was listed. They said they would drop off a couple bags of salt but that doesn't do very much for me.

Description of Work: It was advertised as a sump pump inspection. The technician (not a licensed plumber) arrived, went into the crawl space, clicked on the sump pump and announced that it was working. He offered to inspect thereat of the plumbing in the house - and I declined.

 + 1 moreWe were on call all day with the company waiting for them to arrive. They called one time to let us know that they were running late, but would make it by the end of day (8 pm). At 7:45 we called them to see if they were still coming and they said that they would not be able to come out that evening because the tech was delayed. They were going to send one out first thing in the morning. The next morning, the technician didn't show up until around 10. He was very slow to complete the work and took several trips out to his vehicle to smoke a cigarette and talk on the phone. The work was not completed until late afternoon. The level of professionalism and sense of urgency to complete the job were both lacking and frustrating. We spent two days with the company either waiting for a technician to show up or waiting for a technician to complete a seemingly simple pipe/spigot repair.
Description of Work: Called out to look at the plumbing on a dishwasher and repair an outdoor water spigot and pipe that had cracked.

 + -1 moreWe called on a Friday afternoon close to 5pm. Our air conditioner was blowing warm air. The house was getting quite hot and we had an infant and a child with asthma at home. I was put on a waiting list for the following day (Saturday). Shortly after that, I received a phone call that someone may be able to work us in that night. I was ecstatic. Close to 9:00pm Jason L. arrived. He identified the problem, fixed it, and our air conditioner was soon working again. We were VERY pleased with Jason L, especially his professionalism and diligence even though it had been a very long day for him. We highly recommend this company and specifically Jason L.

 + -1 moreTech guy came and provided maintenance service for two heat pumps. He checks the air conditioning side in the spring and the heating side in the fall. This is part of my service agreement. He spent about 2 hours making sure that I won't have any problems with cooling my house this summer. He took pictures of the inside of my duct work and showed me a lot of dirt collected on the side of the duct walls which he said may be the reason I need to change my air filters more often than I used to. He gave me an estimate. I will check Angies List and get a couple estimates before I decide to do this.

The person who came out the second time was on time and did the job. They were also easy to get in touch with.

 + -1 moreCalled ARS to inquire about having my water heater flushed. Appointment was made for 3 days later. Service technician called me to advise me that he was on his way and of his arrival time. The serviceman, Reav Wood arrived promptly as scheduled. He inspected my water lines, checked my water temperature and water pressure. He then proceeded to flush my water heater. Was very pleased with work provided. Reav was professional and knowledgeable. He answered all the questions I had concerning my water heater operation and maintenance. I ended up purchasing a total Hvac maintenance package which entails the inspection of my air conditioner and heating system. Water heater flush and check-up took about an hour, Was very impressed with ARS Company and would highly recommend them !!!

Description of Work: ARS inspected my main sump pump, AND fixed a problem with my backup sump pump. Suggested, and gave me, estimates on a replacement of my main pump, and an estimate on fixing the problem (electrical) with the back up pump. Very up front about things. My main is an old pump, and should be replaced. Technician was cordial, professional, and experienced. I have ARS for a lot of other services. They are great.

However their quote for replacement was about $600 over what I ultimately paid by another company that does great work. Definitely good one to look at for a comparative quote they just seem to be on the high-end. They also had to reschedule me twice.

He gave me his phone number so that I could call him to let him know when the water company had been here. He came back and did a very good job. I am very pleased.
Description of Work: He has to come twice because the street turn off had to be cleaned out by the water company. He turned off the water outside to change the shut off valve at the meter which was leaking. He also fixed a leaky pipe to the outside faucet which was incorrectly soldered.

He gave me three options: the ISE Pro Essential for $676.,the ISE Pro compact for $622., or the ISE Badger 5 for $380. I chose the last option because of the lower price. He asked me for my Angie's list receipt and then told me he would have to add an $89. Service call fee because I couldn't combine the special. So, in effect, I did not save much money with the big deal.instead of saving $200., I saved $100. Minus the cost of the big deal.
