Description of Work: I had to use the service because if I did not use it, it would have charged me "work estimate service" of $99 anyway. Angie's list says "free estimate" for this service; but it was NOT really a free estimate service. Angie's list should state the contents of service more honestly.

Description of Work: ARS was my service for my HVAC system for many years. I found them to be dependable and efficient in their work. They were professional and always answered questions I had. They helped to limp my aged HVAC along and extended the life of the system. When the system gave up, I secured several quotes and got a better financial deal from another highly recommended company. I could not get the financing I wanted from ARS. Other than that their service was excellent and professional. The B grade for responsiveness was given because it took me several months to discontinue the service contract I had with them.

Description of Work: This was an Angie's List special for a full house plumbing inspection and flushing of the water heater. The service was satisfactorily provided in a timely manner.

Description of Work: This was a rip off scheme. I called the company and scheduled the appointment and they sent a man out in a timely manner. That was the only thing that went right. | |I called for a repairman because I had a leaking pipe that was between my water heater and the wall. I needed the leak fixed. The water heater was working fine. There was no leak behind the wall the drywall was dry. | |When I saw the advertisement for the deal, I was thinking how timely it was because the leak had just started the night before. | |When the repairman came in he looked at the water heater and the pipe then went back to his truck. | |He came back in the house and said (1) I am a professional and I can not touch your water heater because there are rules and regulations he must follow. (2) He said he needed to replace the water heater because it was not up to the recent new codes. (3) He could not guarantee the work because of the tight space the new water heater had to go in. (4) There was going to be a tight space charge of at least $1000.00 (5) The total cost to replace the water heater that was working would be over $2000.00. | |I want to remind everyone the water heater was working fine. The pipe that was easily seen was leaking. I said, "no thank you and what is the charge for you coming out?" He said it would be nothing. | |CHECK THIS OUT |About an hour, after the man left, I got a call from some strange man asking if I needed a plumber. I was confused I had not called anyone else. He said to me I heard you needed a plumber and I can come out and fix the problem for about $150. | |That is when I remember the repairman from the company keep saying "you can get someone off of Craigs List to fix it for you. I am a professional and I have to do a professional job. I only work on water heaters that are in regulations." (New Regulations) | |I think the plumber gave my number to the other guy so he could get the business. | |I hired another company and they fixed just the pipe for $260.00 the next day. | |I called Angie's list and canceled my automatic renewal over this mess. | |I feel Angie's should check out the companies better before they advertize them. I was no better off than if I had just picked plumber out of the Yellow Pages like I eventually did. | |$99.00 Gone!!!!

Description of Work: The gentleman that came over was knowledgeable and helpful. He took a look at what we had going on, took pictures, and let me know what the next steps would be. We hadn't planned on having the repair to the degree of what was needed. Therefore, the price was higher than what we budgeted for That's why we didn't move forward with the repair. No complaints with ARS.

Description of Work: Quoted $89 to clear a clog. When they arrived they already had paperwork filled out for nearly $400. To get quoted price I had to pull the toilet. Once I did I did get the quoted price.

Description of Work: Very responsive but the quote for the 2 plumbing jobs I need were very high. I am trying another company. I have no use for the Big Deal because it wasn't such a good deal after all. Thank you, Martin

Description of Work: Fixed a leak in my kitchen sink. While there, they knock my connection to my dishwasher off (the hose). I used my dishwasher, not knowing this and it flooded my cabinet. |They denied this and tried to show how I knocked it off. Now why would I do that. |Many calls later, it was finally resolved.

Description of Work: Rescue Rooter did a great job! I had an emergency on a Sunday afternoon. Rescue Rooter came to my rescue within two hours. The issue was fixed correctly. Although Rescue Rooter is expensive, they do a great job!

Description of Work: They responded quickly and the job was done quickly. Did get an Angie's discount, and I realize you pay for the call, but it still seems rather high. However, they are thorough and stand behind their work so it is hat it is cost wise.

Description of Work: I purchased a deal for $99 for $200 worth of plumbing services. I had a blockage in the sewer line. I was at work when the problem happened and I purchased the deal in an emergency. Scheduling was fine. I wasn’t home when they completed the job. I had some questions for the work and called them. I wanted to know if they ran the full line. They only explained that a technician had come out and completed the work, but did not provide the details. They also tried to sell me having someone come out with a camera to have someone look.

Description of Work: Furnace tune up and inspection of furnace. Was told heat exchanger was bad and leaking gas and had to sign a release of liability form before they left in order to keep it running. Told our tenants of the residence that they needed to stay on top of us because quote, you know how landlords are. We then had a second opinion done by Mowry heating and cooling and were told that the heat exchanger could have never been looked at based upon parts not being removed recently in order to do so. Once they inspected heat exchange, no problems at all were found.

Description of Work: ARS performed a diagnostic on our noisy furnace. They identified that the inducer motor needed replaced and suggested several other repairs that were needed (the system, furnace & A/C, was 12 years old). Since the quoted repairs ($2,000) added up to about the cost of a new furnace they sent out a "Home Comfort Specialist" to give us a quote on a new system. The specialist showed up over 2 hours late. He then tried to talk us into a 3 ton, 96% high efficiency, variable speed, 16 SEER system that was way out of our price range ($14,000). He insisted this would save us money with a 2-3 year payback, but when we did the math, the payback period was longer than the life of the system. He still didn't back off that system, even though we expressed concerns over the price. Rather than give us more practical options, he told us about financing options. We ended up purchasing a builder grade system (2.5 ton, 80% efficiency, 10 SEER) the next day from another company ($5,600).
