It didn't. I contacted Hoosier Chimney Sweep by email twice and by phone twice in a four week period. I never received the courtesy of a response.

They did a great job. I was very impressed. They explained everything and took pictures. He was very thorough and he was on time. He was here for hours doing what he needed to do and I was very impressed with the work.

The owner of the company inspected and cleaned my complex chimney / fireplace (masonry heater) in January 2016. He did a great job and was very thorough. He recommended that we waterproof our chimney and gave me information about it. In March or April, I first tried to contact him twice by email (his email was listed on the website) with no response. I then tried to call the company twice and left a message with no responses. I liked his service but now cannot get any response from them. I decided to try again this August and have called twice and left clear voice mail with my name and number, and sent an email to Penny (as listed on website) again with no responses. I have given up and will find another company. It is hard to know if they are now not doing business altogether or if they have decided not to do business in Monroe County (their website says they still service this area). I am upset that I have received no responses whatsoever and it has caused me to significantly delay getting this fixed. Sadly, I will have to find another chimney person that I trust. It pains me to have to write this because I did like the service I received this past January, but I want to inform people to not waste their time trying to reach them like I have. It might be helpful if Angie's List personnel could contact them to find out why they are not returning calls or email. Thanks.

My regular chimney sweep retired last year and I decided to call a preferred contractor provided on Angie's List. I found Hoosier Chimney Sweep on Angie's List with good reviews so I called the number listed. I tried calling on two different occasions, on different days and different times. Each time, I was connected to a voicemail with a woman's voice, identifying the number as Hoosier Chimney Sweep and to leave a message. Both times I left a clear message with my name, my location, a contact phone number for myself and the services I was requesting. I called twice over a period of 2 weeks thinking the owners may be on vacation, etc. but I NEVER once received any contact from them whatsoever. I'm not going to waste any more of my time trying to hire a company that won't even return calls from someone that is willing to pay them money for a service. I will never contact, or use this company for any work at my house. Hoosier Chimney Sweep Inc should deleted from the contractors list because this lack of service reflects poorly at Angie's List itself.

Michael and Gene did a very thorough job of inspecting and cleaning the fireplace box, flew and chimney on the roof. Detailed pictures were provided so I could see exactly the areas needing attention and repair. Fireplace had not been inspected for a couple years, I now have piece of mind knowing we are safe to burn this fall/ winter. Worth every penny. Highly recommend.

The provider arrived an hour later than specified, but I felt this was understandable given it was peak season. The service men were extremely friendly, professional, and did a very thorough inspection. They went step by step through their report, explained everything, and informed me that I would need the chimney torn down to the roof line and rebuilt before removing some kreosote inside the wall and parging the lintel. The visit ended with the lead sweep saying that they would follow up with a quote in the next couple of weeks. I followed up by email a few weeks later when I didn't receive a quote and received no response. I followed up again about a month later asking if the problem was with matching the brick on the chimney stack and if they could offer alternative repair suggestions. No response. I left a phone message and an email about a month later asking if they'd be willing to do a short consult with a local mason who was able to fix the stack and find matching brick but he wanted advice from someone with chimney experience. I made clear that I would pay for the consult and then have them do the cleaning and parging. No response. The local mason contacted them directly on March 26th. At first they sounded interested in the consult and then stopped responding. I contacted them on April 20th and received an email back on the 25th saying that they'd been out sick for the past week but would contact the mason that very afternoon. As of today, April 29th, they still haven't contacted him. In short, this company seems to do great with one visit cleanings based on other reviews, but doesn't follow through on quotes and repairs. I feel like I wasted $100 and an hour of my time on the inspection since I'll just have the next company to reinspect it for a similar fee. I would not use them if you suspect you need more than a standard cleaning.

Mr. Stiles did an excellent job. He was very thorough. As he cleaned the dryer vents he took pictures before and after the cleaning. Once he was done with the work (this took nearly 2.5 hours), he had a video presentation that he showed me on his laptop of what he saw, the readings from the dryer vent before and after the cleaning. Both Mr. Stiles and his assistant wore booties during the time they were in the house (as they had to be in and out of the house). He did the same regarding the work on the chimney - pictures and a thorough explanation of the work he had done. I have NEVER had a service visit like this one. I was extremely impressed and have recommended him to family members. I have already scheduled a follow up visit for next year.

Went very well. These guys know their chimneys! Among other things, they gave us the bad news that the chimney had a 90-degree turn in it between the first and 2nd floors. This makes lining it impossible and, although this is bad news, because it means we can't use the gas fireplace, it is good to have an honest appraisal that could very well have saved us from burning down our old house.

We just purchased this home and wanted to be sure the gas fireplace was not only in working order and clean, but also needed to know how to safely operate it since we've never had a gas fireplace before. We also wanted to be sure our dryer vent was clean and safe. First of all, let me say Hoosier Chimney Sweep is very big on education. I learned a lot during their time at our house. They not only showed me how to use a gas fireplace, but then had me operate it on my own. They explained very thoroughly what type of fireplace we have and why the damper in a gas fireplace is not to be fully closed. They did an excellent job cleaning it out as well as cleaning the logs, and re-stacked and positioned the logs so the flame burns correctly through them. They also found kinks in the gas line and a leak, all of which were repaired. In addition, they are helping me find glass doors that will fit our particular fireplace. The dryer vent turned out to be terribly full of lint and was a real fire hazard. Again, they educated me about dryer vents and explained what they were doing every step of the way. The before and after photos were unbelievable and it was a real eye-opener about keeping that vent clean. Even though they'd encountered delays at previous jobs that day, they still arrived working into the evening. Their office phoned me ahead of time about the delays and kept me informed. I offered to reschedule but they were glad to still come if it was OK with me. These folks are all about service. I was so impressed with them. They obviously believe in what they do, and are committed to their customers. For all the work they did and the amount of time spent, I felt their charges were extremely reasonable. The amount indicated is the total for everything - chimney/fireplace and repairs, and dryer venting and repairs. THEY ARE CERTIFIED, which is so important. They were all about making sure things were safely operational. I highly, highly recommend them.

I asked to have my chimney inspected and cleaned since I just moved into the house and was not sure if it had been cleaned recently. He came and seemed to do a thorough inspection. He said it had not been installed correctly and it was unsafe to use. He did show me on his computer some pictures of issues and said he would email me a full report. I asked for a formal report of the findings and estimates on how much it would cost to fix it or replace it with a wood stove. I never heard from them again. I did call twice asking for the report and estimates. I fett ripped off, I paid $100.00 for a verbal, dont use it because it is unsafe, I thought the least I would get would have been a formal report of what the issues were. I probaby would have hired them to fix it if I had gotten an esitmate.

Since I didn't climb on the roof to watch exactly what they did, my description is vague. Parts on top of the chimney were removed. The things that had been stuffed into the chimney, probably when the house was built, were removed. Those items were insulation, 2x4 boards, plastic bags. The chimney cap and cover were taken off, and whatever it was they were attached to were also removed. Where the fireplace box top met the bottom of the chimney was cleaned and checked for rust. After the cleaning, they re-insulated the space and attached a complete cover over it. These people really knew what they were doing and they did it very well. In addition, they were patient with my curiousity (nosiness) and very professional in demeanor. They also took pictures of all that they saw and did.

They are very professional! They took so many pictures, checked out the brick and flashing around the top of the house. They were here for 4 1/2 hours. We need to have a smaller liner as the one was to big, I worked for a Chimney sweep and Mason, I knew what they said was right on!!. So glad they will becoming back to fix all our problems. We will always use them every year for now on!!

Michael arrived on time. He was friendly but professional. He came in, started work and efficiently completed the job. He was knowledgeable in all aspects of the job. The quality of the work was above our expectations. He and his assistant were neat and cleaned the area before leaving.

They did a really good job and I was very impressed. They were able to get to my early. The technician was here for about 6 1/2 hours. He was really thorough and taught me a lot of things. He was very timely and got the job done. I will definitely be using them again.
