"Someone came to evaluate our siding repair needs. It was a very small job, so he nicely forwarded it along to the side of the business that would perform the work at a cheaper rate. However, he told us that he would like to offer a free inspection of our roof and siding for storm damage because he felt that there was quite possibly damage and that in that case, insurance would be able to cover replacement. We agreed to get the inspection in the coming days and that the small siding repair would be put on hold with their service department until the inspection was done. The week passed with no further contact from the gentleman. We contacted him, he apologized and said he would guarantee he would come to our house that Saturday. His words, "If there is one roof I'm going to get on this Saturday, it will be yours." Saturday came and went with no sight or contact from Elbert. We made an additional contact to the same gentleman and received no response back. We contacted the company itself and asked to be assigned a different Elbert representative. Our information was taken by the girl who answered the phone and she said she would need to forward it along to the higher-ups to make the decision on reassigning the work. Someone would contact us. Guess what? No contact whatsoever was made. In our opinion, Elbert has zero respect for their customer's time. If we've reached out to a company, we've had them over to our house, we've reached out to them again and again, we'd like the work completed. Just do the darn work. Now we're left with having to do everything all over again with a different company. Yet this company still maintains its reputation. No idea what their rhyme or reason is for respecting some customers while not respecting others, but our experience with Elbert has been horrible. I can't imagine how it would have gone had they actually followed through on the front end and gotten the work...how much time and energy would we have had to spend to make sure the job got done?"

"Other companies would not call me back because I was not replacing the entire roof. They explained why one side of the bump out had rotted. I was happy with the price quoted for replacing the shingles with a metal that matched the color copper penny roof on out barn. This was a small job but they treated us with respect. Very happy with the result."

Even though you don’t look at your roof often, there are some telltale signs that you should have your roof professionally cleaned. It’s best to hire a professional roof cleaner as soon as you notice signs of wear and tear to preserve the essential feature’s longevity. Some indicators to look out for include:
Dirt and grime buildup
Moss or black algae growth
Dirt buildup under shingles
Shifting roof shingles
Plant growth
The cost of roof cleaning is $455 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range from $150 to $1,000, depending on the size, pitch, and material of the roof, as well as the cleaning method used.
Since roof cleaning costs between $0.20 and $0.60 per square foot, it’s fair to say that the larger your roof, the more you pay for cleaning services. Additionally, if you have a steep roof, you can expect to pay an additional $0.15 per square foot due to the complex nature of the job and additional safety equipment needed.
A professional roof cleaning lasts about a year on average, so it’s best to do it annually. This schedule helps catch any roof problems before they become extensive and helps prevent mold, moss, and algae from forming. If you live near the coast, annual roof cleaning will help prevent salt buildup on your roof. You can add professional roof cleaning to your yearly home maintenance checklist to ensure you never miss a year.
On average, cleaning a roof will take between two to five hours. This timeline depends on the size and slope of your roof and the severity of any stains. Cleaning roof stains can take additional time, especially if there are signs of moss or algae.
In addition, the age of your roof makes an enormous difference in the time it takes to clean it, as older roofs need more gentle care. If you have significant landscaping in your yard by your house, your professional roof cleaner will need additional time to protect it from cleaning chemicals.
It is not advisable to DIY a roof cleaning job. Cleaning your roof yourself could lead to hazardous falls, scrapes, and even burns, making this a dangerous project. Additionally, using the wrong cleaning solution or cleaning method on your roof could risk damaging it. While some markets offer a DIY roof cleaning kit, these products often speed up the deterioration of your roof.
To ensure that you and your roof are protected, it’s best to leave roof cleaning to a professional with the right chemicals, tools, and equipment to complete the job safely.
