Unfortunately, Josh seemed like a nice guy and we were looking forward to giving him some business. His total lack of professionalism was disappointing. We will never recommend him or his company. Not what we expected from an Angie's List Company

the first service person made a complete mess of things, including dripping caulk on the carpets and bending the gutter. The owner was so appalled with the shoddy workmanship he came out himself and went out of his way to make everything right. Very good workmanship and professionalism. Evidently the original repair person is now no longer performing that kind of work.

Excellent! On time, very professional. Worked steadily for two days until job was done. Did an excellent cleanup at the end of first day and after job was completed. Josh (the owner) and Abby came by later in evening after job was finished and checked it out. He wanted to know how everything went and if I had any concerns regarding the job. He asked for any suggestions on improving service. The company uses very high quality shingles which look very nice. The roof looks excellent and my wife and I couldn't be happier. I've already recommended them to a friend.

I called once to tell them what I needed, and they told me they would call the next day. For the next two days, their voicemail said it was full. On the third day, I left a message stating, "Please call me back and just let me know if you are interested in the job, so I can start looking elsewhere if you aren't." I never heard back from them. Perhaps they get A ratings by doing only select jobs. Whatever, they are wasting my time, just let me know they've got enough work or are too lazy to work.

I called late in the day on Friday, April 19th, to request an estimate to replace my roof. Abby called me back on Monday, April 22nd. She said that Josh would go by my house by the end of the week. I never heard back from them. I went with another company.

I was anxious to get the roof done before winter, and called a few companies. AJ Roofing came right out and gave me an estimate. The price was very reasonable compared to the others, and I contracted them by email, which was new to me. I did experience some more anxiety when some emails went unanwered, and phone calls unreturned, but eventually they did and explained they had been backed up because of a difficult job, and could begin before I left on vacation. The work was done quickly and with a lot of care by the crew, and they even completed a balcony with a flat roof that required some extra work. That was a godsend. Many thanks. Overall I was very happy with the experience, and would recommend the company to anyone after having a few doubts at first because of communication worries.

These folks did the work for my next door neighbors, and those neighbors spoke very highly for the company's ability and professionalism. The same company had doe their roof years before, but now, I gather, it is the son of the original owner who is taking the lead. My own experience was the same as my neighbors: perfect. The only glitch in the operation is that the gutters needed also to be replaced, and there were some hang-ups there, but only because AJ outsources gutter installation to another guy's company, and he had a death or health issue in the family unexpectedly. That fellow worked hard to catch up after one missed date, and I cannot complain at all. Great experience all around.

It went very well. Everything was spelled out and we had a wide selection of roof colors.

They arrived on time and finished the roof winterization Big Deal package by caulking weak areas. Also provided a roof replacement quote at the same time. Seemed very professional. Ended up having them replace the roof a couple months later. The quality of the work was excellent, though there were several communication issues that made it not as smooth as it could have been. They arrived on time and finished the job in a day and a half. Clean-up was adequate but not impressive. The price was much better compared to other quotes. Would recommend them to others, but like all service jobs, communication is key and getting everything in writing is a must.

The customer service, the quote, and the attentiveness have been really good. Their bid was the lowest as well. However, they were supposed to call last week, but they didn't maybe because of the weather and other things going on for them. Therefore, I sent an e-mail on the weekend and today is Monday, so I guess I am surprised looking back on today that they haven't responded by e-mail because they have always done that before.

VERY BAD. WILL NOT USE THE BIG DEAL AGAIN

Called to set appointment, was on time, very knowledgable, courteous, very quick to get the work done. Did an awesome following up and making sure satisfaction was good. I would call him again for any of my roofing or construction needs, Very dependable and honest. I would recommend to anyone.

We chose A J Construction and Roofing because of their very professional and informative presentation. Everyone we had contact with at their company was friendly and helpful. We are pleased with every aspect of the job. The workers were courteous and got the job done quickly with no damage to bushes or anything else in the yard. They took care to make sure everything was cleaned up each day before they left. The roof took 2 days to complete. Our roof looks wonderful. We will be happy to recommend A J Construction and Roofing to our friends and family. Our next door neighbor has already recommended them to a member of her family.

Very great service and very nice owners of this business. They spend alot of time from estimate to completion to be sure that you understand the services and then that you are happy when it is finished. I highly recommend AJ Construction & Roofing.

Well, first of all, they cancelled the first appointment. Then it took about a month to reschedule. They went up on the roof and looked around. Did they forget that they were supposed to be "sealing and winterizing?" They wrote my husband an estimate for a new roof and left. The estimate was reasonable, but that was not supposed to be the point of the service. It said that they would make recommendations as needed, but why didn't they perform the service we paid for?

The contacted me via phone and followed up via email. They called and inidctaed they were on their way. They arrived and were focused.

They were prompt & did excellent work, and the price was fantastic.

Positive information and professional advice was shared by staff.

I called AJ Roofing prior to purchasing the Big Deal to ask whether they would also replace missing shingles with extras we had on hand and they confirmed that they would so I purchased the winter roof maintenance deal. At that time I also let them know that we will be looking into a re-roof for this summer but wanted to get someone up there to take a look and do repairs to get us through the winter. Josh contacted me within a few days and scheduled a visit. There was some hesitation about going onto our roof due to steepness, so the 2 hours of maintenance was delayed by about 10 days due to weather, schedules and cancelled several times. Since we have had different roofers from other companies up once a year repairing the roof (none of which needed rails), there was little to do as far as caulking, flashing etc but we received some complaints that the winter maintenance did not cover replacing lost shingles. AJ Roofing was happy to give us an estimate for re-roofing but getting them to show up to replace the missing shingles was not as easy and there were still some missing shingles when they finished. Not so impressed --so we went with a different roofing company for the re-roof.

AJ Roofers were slightly delayed due to heavy volume of work from Angie's Big Deal. Having said that they were responsive and provided the roof chimney and roof seams sealing they said they would. Additionally they provided an estimate for repair of two flat roofs with leaks. As part of the service they showed me the damage to the roof area via photos and video taken on an Ipad. They were very professional and completed the contracted work in a timely manner.

Never got back with me as promised.

Everything went great. They were on-time, inspected the roof, made some minor repairs and even cleaned out the gutters while they were up there, then swept up the mess from the sidewalk. I asked for an estimate on some additional work and received the estimate quickly.

After purchasing the "big deal" AJ Construction called and we scheduled the appointment for them to come out and perform the work, they asked about any particular issues we were having and I explained about the skylight and the flat roof. She said Josh was really good about evaluating the areas and letting us know if there was something else they found that needed repair and would discuss with us before they did anything out of the range of the "big deal". This is something I really like because I like to have control over what I spend. Josh and John arrived at 10:30 AM on 12/17/12 and introduced themselves, then asked if we have any leaks that we knew of, and I invited Josh into the house, showed him where we had seen water leakage in our den, told him that we had noticed water in our bathroom during heavy rain and wind. He said they would get to work, he would inspect the roof and let me know what they found. He took a picture of the bathroom pipe vent cover and felt it needed to be replaced but he did not pressure us to do anything today, however, we ask if he could replace it and he say he could. We agreed on the price, he installed the new pipe vent cover, while John was working on other areas of the roof. Josh took a picture of the new one after installation so we could see what it looked like now. When everything was completed they let us know they were done and were leaving, he left his card so we could call if we had any problems. They were very nice, professional and I would highly recommend them to others. It is extremely hard to get someone to do small jobs like this one and we are truly grateful to Angie's list for the opportunity to purchase this service, and to offer it from such a professional company. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend to others.

When Josh Hill came out we both realized very quickly that I didn't need the services involved in the Big Deal. He offered to do something else- install a missing cap around an open flu pipe for the same price. I was very pleased because I was going to have to have someone else do that anyway and probably for more money than the 'big deal' price.
