Description of Work: BAD BAD BAD would never recommend to anyone for anything my gut feeling was not enough of a repair job dollar wise ($2,600.00) for them to bother withme. Scheduled times to begin work (would estimate as they go along) didn't show up and didnt bother to call to let me know they would not? Could not show because of ???? no real real reason. I will totally trash these people if anyone should ever ask me if I have knowledge of them.

No big deal, so I called back and got the same woman who answered the first time. I described the problem, gave my address and a call back number and was told I would get a call back to set up an appointment that day. Never received a call. Decided I would try by email to set up the estimate. Never received a reply.

They then came out when the insurance adjuster arrived to inspect the roof, to answer any questions/concerns raised during the adjusters inspection. We scheduled the installation date. When the date arrived, they showed up early each day, worked throughout the day, and cleaned up each evening. They finished the project in 2 days. All work was done professionally by a crew that was extremely nice and polite.
Description of Work: Tear off old roof and replace with a new roof. Install ridge vents as well in place of old stack vents.

+ -1 moreIn May, they came out promptly and gave me an estimate for a new roof. They were by far the most reasonable of the 3 estimates I got. I was told that my flat roof was fine and the rest of the roof needed to be replaced. I believe that Josh did the estimate but he was not there when the roof was installed. Due to my own scheduling issues and travels, we had a little bit of phone tag trying to get it scheduled. At first everything went really smoothly. The crew came out and had the new roof installed that day. They worked a lot faster than I thought they would. I have extensive landscaping and none of it was damaged. However I many of the gutters were not angled well. They angled one so badly that I could not open my shed. After about a week my roof started leaking. Before I had the new roof installed I had no leaking at all. Trying to get ahold of them was really hard. After repeated phone calls I finally got them to come out and "repair" the leak which they blamed on the flat roof (which they had told me did not have to be replaced). Due to the fact that the actual leak was small and it was a dry summer it took me awhile to realize that the leak had not gone away. More phone calls followed with no response. Finally there was a promise that they would be out to look at it but that never happened. When I went out of town I had my father try to deal with the filling buckets in my house. At first it seemed like they would come out after talking to him but that led to only more ignored phone calls. When he did talk to them they blamed it on the flat roof being bad (after telling me it was fine but it turned out the flat roof itself was not the problem). Luckily I found a neighbor who I did not know was a roofer. He was able to actually fix the problem. He told me that there was a small hole in the flashing and because of the sloppy way they installed the new roof on the flat roof it sent water in there and through my ceiling. He fixed it and I haven't had any issues since but it cost me a lot of extra money to both do the repair and to fix the damage to the ceiling and wall inside. I also had trouble getting them to send my receipt. It took multiple calls.

Josh Hill "Owner" did the estimate and also was a big help in helping us to choose the shigles and color~he is very knowledgeable about all brands of shingles! Josh and his crew are very professional and took very good care every day to see that when they left~everything was cleaned up and put away and when done they ran a magnet over the area and yard to catch all stray nails if there were any! They made sure to take the time to protect our landscaping and home so it was not harmed and we really appreciated that! We love our new roof's and Josh and his crew make sure you are satisfied and happy with their work! Josh's work ethics are Top Notch! Josh will give you addresses and numbers to call so you can see for yourself the other jobs he has done and we liked that! I was hesitant at first about going from a flat shingled roof to the newer Architectural ones but I we are so glad we listened to Josh about that because we LOVE our new roof and those new shigles really brought our home up to date! Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List "Big Deal" for this company to do up to 2 hours of winter roof maintenance earlier this year. I made an appointment via telephone early in April to come out on April 13. I mentioned that I would be making special arrangements to stay at home (I work during the day) to be there when they arrived and to discuss any known issues with my roof. They called me the day before and asked if they could reschedule, and I mentioned I had already made arrangements to be home at the scheduled time. So they agreed to come out. The gentleman arrrived pretty much at the scheduled time, and he immediately mentioned that he would not be able to do the maintenance as his helper called in sick (he needed him to hold the rope/be his safety guy). I understand things like this happen, and we proceeded to discuss any known issues with the roof. He mentioned they would be able to come out without anyone needing to be there, and said he would call back to schedule a time to be sure we knew when someone was coming out. To date, I have received no call back (I'm writing this review on 6/12/2012). Since the deal mentioned that the coupon "MUST be redeemed by 5/31/12, I followed up with a phone call around that time, and left a message with my cell number. To this date, no one has called me back. I understand people can be busy, but the common courtesy of closing the loop with your customer is expected, especially one WHO HAS ALREADY PAID IN ADVANCE FOR THE WORK TO BE DONE. So right now I am out $149 with no signs of this service being performed. UPDATE 6/26/2012: I received a call back the day after I posted the above review (thanks Angie!) and it was mentioned there was a possible mixup in the phone numbers since this contractor has 2 different addresses and phone numbers (confusing, isn't it?). They apologized for not getting back with me, and came out about a week or so later and performed the service I paid for. Afterwards they sent me an e-mail summary of what they did, which is exactly what I expected. Due to the mixup, they waived the extra $75 fee for a non-walkable roof, which was fair. So in the end, I'm happy with the service performed (2 hrs winter roof maintenance).

There was somewhat of a delay in getting telephone calls returned/emails answered, but the company was prompt and arrived on time when work was scheduled. It took the crew only 1 day to complete the tear down and installation of the new roof, which included cleaning up and discarding debris. They did a good job of cleaning up, and didn't distrub any other landscapping, etc. We did have a few shingles that needed to be nailed down after the initial install, but the company was responsive in coming back out to finish up the job.
Description of Work: Our 8 year old roof was removed, and a new roof was installed. Prior to the roof being replaced, we purchased the Big Deal, which allowed for minor roof maintenance. It was determined from that initial visit that our roof needed to be replaced. AJ Construction replaced the roof and discarded all debris.

If I have further questions, I know who to call. Thanks 7/19/13 OK Maybe I spoke too soon. Called Abby on June 25th 2013 about water leaking in our garage. Since I need to be here to show them where, she told me at that point they would see what's open on their schedule and call me to let me know when they could look at it for us. Looks like nothing has come open yet. or maybe since they have their money...they don't care now. I don't buy into a"forgot excuse." When you write stuff down it's hard to forget.. 8/20/13 Still no contact from them.

+ -1 moreThey were on Angie's List, they did a good job, but, bent our gutters. His name is Josh Hill. They did a good job, gave us a very good price, because we paid in cash. At first, myhusband paid with a check, but, they weren't happy, so, my husband went and got the cash. We didn't always get in touch with him right away, but, I contribute that to the weather, it would snow, then clear off. I did pull in the driveway one day and stepped on a nail, which could have gone into my tire. We did a lot of shopping around and they gave us a good price. They were here when they said they were going to be here.

+ -1 moreThe owner and an assistant did an excellent job of surveying our roof situation, and were very upfront with us about the condition of our roof -- while being very professional and respectful of our wishes to not spend a lot of money to replace our roof at this time, due to a lot of medical bills we have had to deal with. There was nothing obvious causing the leaking, other than the fact that our roof is generally aging. They took a lot of up close pictures, and showed us various problem places on the roof (using an iPad, so that we could see, up close, the actual condition of our roof) -- and were very straightforward in saying all they could do was seal up various potential leaks and spot problem areas. We agreed to give this a try, and felt that they did an excellent job of covering all areas of minor repair, short of having to replace large areas of our roof. We felt that they were very conscientious about the work they did do on the roof (which amounted primarily to sealing joints and flanges). Although we knew there would be no guarantees, given the age of the roof, we have had several heavy rain and wind storms since the work was done, and there is no leaking now. In future, if our roof is damaged in any kind of hail storm, such that it becomes obvious that significant repair is required (and probably more likely covered by insurance), this will be the first company we will call for an estimate and investigation of any damage. We were very impressed, and appreciated their honesty and hard work to help us!
Description of Work: We have had a problem with an intermittently leaky roof over our bathroom, but did not want incur the cost of replacing our entire roof.

Talked to Josh, discussed about the issue and cause - Fixed up a timing and got it fixed. No tension - very smooth transaction. I would highly recommend them and use their service again. Description of Work: There were some water leak marking on my bathroom ceiling. Discussed with Mr.Josh about that and the cause - damaged Soil Pipe Boot Sealings over the roof. Fixed a time for the service over the phone and thats it. He showed up as he mentioned , inspected the water leak markings and the cause at the Roof top. Replaced the Seal and solved the problem at reasonalble pricing.

She wanted to know if we needed a new roof and I told her we had a leak so didn't know if we needed a repair or a new roof. She said she would talk to Josh and he would probably call the next day. We never heard another word from this company.

I called them out to my home due to leaks that developed caused by a different contractor who flashed my roof incorrectly when I had a tear off done on my roof within a couple years before this. The crew promptly came out and corrected the problem. They did an excellent job & I was so happy with my service, that I strongly recommended this company to other members in my family who were in need of roof tear off’s, etc. (Those family members have used AJ Construction for multiple projects and were also very impressed by the quality.)

I was impressed by the professionalism for the duration, from the first meeting all the way to the finished job. Communication was great. They were excellent with providing samples, along with plenty of other product information. Josh went over all warranty information and any questions that I had. I was impressed with the timeliness and the detail to cleanliness. Josh's promise held true - they only tore off the amount of shingles that they could replace the same day. The crew's attention to detail and the effeciency of their work was outstanding. This company exceeded my expectations, as I've had some previous bad experience with other companies. Thanks again to Josh & Tyler for their outstanding level of commitment to service and quality. I would definitely use them again in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a job well done.

+ 6 moreWe first met Josh and his crew almost 2 years ago when they replaced the roof on our house, insulated our attic and rebuilt our front porch. They did a great job, were dependable and cleaned up at the end of each day so a mess was not left. When we decided to remodel our master bathroom, we asked Josh to provide an esimate. He worked with us to be sure we were happy with the plans but also provide his expertise based on his experience. Once the decision was made to go with AJ Constuction, a start date and estimated completion date were provided. They started on time and completed two weeks after expected but that was due to our changing the plans during the constuction. Josh was great to work with and his major goal during construction was to be sure we were happy. We were so happy that we decided to remodel the entire first floor of our house. This included the family room, kitchen, dining room, living room, powder room and laundry room. We gutted everything in the kitchen and familyroom down to the studs. The crew working the job were dependable, hardworking, and trustworthy. The entire company was great to work with. We were so happy we hope to have them back in the spring to remodel the deck on the back of our house. AJ Construction is fair with pricing, hard working and easy to work with.
Description of Work: Great company to work with. The most recent remodel AJ Construction did for us involved a complete gutting and remodeling of our kitchen, and family room and remodel of our dining room, living room, powder room and laundry room. They installed all new dry wall and ceilings in the family room and kitchen,installed all new cabinets, and appliances, installed new fixtures throughout, installed hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor, and installed new moldings throughout.

Called the phone number listed by the BBB and got the owner/manager who said I should call the office instead. Called the office and spoke to a woman who took my information (needed a new roof). Never heard back from any of these contacts, eventually had the job done by someone else.
Description of Work: None, I couldn't get the company to get back with me about my need for service.
