The original work performed NOV 2010 was very good, windows looked brand new. But, over time the windows would rot. The NOV 2013 warranty call was for the biggest window (3 casement panels) because the wood framing had rotted. The representative himself expressed frustration with his management wanting to honor the warranty, but, after about 4 weeks WM honored the repair. Lastly, around 2017 the hardware from the casement opener pulled right out of the window, the wood again had rotted. I eventually called later because at that time the wood framing was falling off and onto the ground. The representative said these were 5 yr warranty (I thought it was longer). They offered to provide another estimate, but, I declined especially if the materials will not last.

in short, window makeover windows fail after 5 years. well, it appears that window makeover isn't any better than any other transient window company. i have had window makeover repair and replace many of my windows over the past five years and the first window that i had replaced now is rotten. and window makeover is standing by their 5 year warranty and not fixing or replacing the window. Exactly at 5 years the window needs to replaced. Also all of the repaired or replaced windows will probably need to be replaced as the windows get to be 5 years old. Also don't count on getting records or proof of purchase from window make over because they have changed software and they don't have old installations.

I contacted window makeover to repair some wood window rot on an old home. The gentleman who came out to provide the quote actually showed up which is something I've not experienced with previous quote requests with other companies... he was polite, and went above and beyond to answer any questions that I had (some he even answered twice!) He went window by window and showed me what they would do to repair it. The crew showed up when they said they would and finished a whole day ahead of schedule. They were polite, professional, and didn't leave a spec of dust behind. I'm very pleased with the job they did, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great quality finished project.

I had no idea Window Makeovers did new windows. I had used them in the past to rebuild some wood casement windows and they did an excellent job. I asked them out to quote some work because I had a huge picture windows I thought was too large to replace. They proved me wrong. I love the windows they installed. I ended up having the large one and 3 others done. Great hardware. Great access. Great mechanisms. The only possible negative is the interior colors were limited. Excellent work.

The quoting process was easy and the installer was very proficient and skilled. My window looks great again! A previous company had "no bid" because of the manufacturer, and the manufacturer wanted to just put in a new bay window for over $5700. These guys did a great job at WAY less costs!

This company has their service down to a science. They arrived promptly with a three-person team and although not a huge job scope, proceeded to repair these windows within 2 hours. The resulting repaired windows look and work nearly good as new. I have used them in the past on two other occasions and in both cases their work has been similarly good. I would recommend them to anyone with rotted wood windows if they need to minimize cost compared to replacement. It is not cheap but compared to replacement it is less and the work is high quality.

The Window Makeover team was prompt, courteous and professional. They did an excellent job and I plan on using them for additional jobs on all my windows.
Description of Work: I needed a large foyer window and side window repaired or replaced, as well as having some trim work replaced and called several "A" rated companies for bids. After reviewing three bids, and reviewing ratings in detail, Window Makeover was by far the most cost-effective with the best ratings and was chosen.

It worked out okay. Ours was a special case because our windows are custom, so they had to provide a custom window. We had a two-step because they had to come back and paint. They had more than one person come out to determine whether or not they could do the window. So they made sure they could provide the service I wanted. I thought they were a little expensive, but since it was a custom window I had to pay a little extra. You know, I'm not sure, because they had to wait for the window to settle before they came back to paint. It was a multi-step job. I don't think they could do it in one step. They had to let the caulking dry before they could paint and you know, all that stuff. I guess it was timely, I don't know. Overall it was a B, only because the wood that was used was a composite, and I wanted another kind of wood. They were easy to talk to. They gave me a composite and the told me it would be a composite. They were right there when they told me they would be there. They were very, very professional. I would (use them again), if they prices came down a little bit it would be better. I'm sure they are working within the realm of what they can do.

Very professional. First an estimator visited and quoted the job. Second an employee visited and measured what needed to be replaced. An order was issued & a job manager assigned. When material was ready a scheduler contacted we to schedule the work. The installation team arrived exactly on time. Set up their work area and completed the job in 2 hours.

Have used their services before and been satisfied with the results. They visited the house, checked all the windows and identified the 4 that required repairing. Quotation was made in a timely manner and although the not the cheapest, they have done excellent work in the past and we decided to use them again. Work was set up for a date that fitted our schedule. They turned up on time and completed the work effectively, and cleaned up thoroughly.

During winter we had an upstairs window get stuck in the open position; we called for repair and they sent a technician out right away to close the window. We learned at that time that the window couldn't be repaired, but needed to be replaced. We were told that because it was not a typical rectangular window that it would be a custom-build, so the old window would be removed and the new one installed a week to ten days later. Given that the window was to be a custom build, we discussed the fact that the window casing would need to be stained to match the woodwork in our home. The representative indicated that they normally don't provide that service, but given that it would be a custom build, that that would be no problem and they would be willing to stain the casing in their shop if we would provide the matching stain, which we did. We opted to wait until spring to schedule the job. By then there had been turn-over in the company, whereby both the scheduler and the estimator left the company and we had difficulty in having our phone calls returned in a timely manner. Once we managed to have the job scheduled, the installers arrived to do the job on time and were very cordial. We were pleased with the neatness they demonstrated while working, and we were pleased with the functionality of the window. However, we were shocked to notice that the casing had not been stained in the shop as we had been promised! In trying to address that oversight, we ended up talking to three different people in the office and it felt like being given the run-around. They did offer to come back out and stain the window. However, we decided to do the job ourselves. Given the tightness of the window frame and the positioning of the window once installed, it would have had a much better appearance to have been stained before installation!
Description of Work: We had two jobs done by Window Makeover. The first job was summer 2016 for repair of about a half-dozen windows. That job was superb! This time it was for replacement (rather than repair) of another window. That job didn't go so well. Whereas we might consider hiring the company to do simple window repair in the future, we would probably go to another company for window replacement.

The company was responsive, always answered phone calls and came when they said they would. They use original Marvin parts to re-build the window, and it was about two-thirds of the price of installing a pre-made Marvin window. Looks great.

This is the 2nd time I've used Window Makeover. I have also used another glass contractor in the past when replacing glass only (not a complete window sash/frame rebuild). There is a difference in the professionalism and quality of the work with the Window Makeover team. They do some extras like make sure the glass is well caulked to the wood sash that another glass contractor did not do when I had them replace glass. The techs are also very personable and willing to take a look at some other minor window issues I had and were able to fix them in 5 minutes.

So so. Brett gave me the estimate, but when I tried to contact him about a problem, I never heard back from him. But I did from someone else in the firm, so that is only a minor problem (one was John and another was Mitchel - sure would be good to have ONE contact person per job). The time that would work best for me (11 am on 11. 11.), suddenly did not suit Window Makeover, so we had to squeeze the work into a slot at 4:30 pm between two of my own work shifts (and it still do not really fit there, so I was late). The first team consisted of Mike and Ed. Mike was excellent, he showed me how it would be done. The window was opened, the bottom pane swung out of the frame, a long strip of pink insulation was cut to fit the entire jamb, tucked in thoroughly and the window was reassembled. Ed was friendly enough, but he cut corners, did not move the lower panes out to access the entire jamb and I discovered the next day he had NOT put insulation on the top half of the windows he worked on. The last window he did (while I was trying to get out of the house to make my appointment) had been straight in its frame, but afterwards it was crooked. He was also in charge of vacuuming around the work area and did all but one of those spaces. Since the windows were not completely insulated, there had to be another appointment on 11. 16. with Justin working to make up for that. It was also at an inconvenient time and the job was once again rushed. Justin had a terrible time getting the newly crooked window straight, but finally managed - the window Mike had straightened showing him that it was possible - he also did not take the windows out to insert a long, continuous piece of insulation behind the jamb, but rather stuffed little pieces into the spaces above the lower window pane. I assume it is insulating properly. I spent some time going around vacuuming, picking up pieces of pink fluff from the floor and trying to poke the stray bits behind the jambs where they were peeking out the next day when it was daylight again. However, now that the job is done and the clean-up, too. It is warmer in here and the windows fit snugly, which was the point of the exercise. So it was more hassle than it should have been, but the result is fine.
Description of Work: Put insulation in the window jamb liners to make windows sit straight in their frames, shut completely and keep out cold air.
