Andy and the crew were all great to work with and very professional. Andy explains exactly what they will be doing and makes sure the job is done right. They didn't stop until the stain on the entertainment center was an exact match! Would definitely hire Sage Construction again.
Description of Work: Sage Construction performed several repairs on both my new home and the house I was selling. On the exterior, they replaced rotting exterior trim with AZEK trim and covered an unused furnace vent with fiber cement siding. On the interior, they reconfigured a built in entertainment center to accommodate a flat screen TV as well as rebuild two doors and install matching speaker grill. They also installed a new bathroom vent and insulated attic access doors.

We can't say enough about how well this went. This is the 3 time we have had a space finished and this was by far the easiest to work with, very concerned that the space met our needs and worked hand in hand on making sure the work was done RIGHT. They are on time, and made sure that subcontracted work was done well and timely. The designed and built in bookshelves are wonderful- looks just like the photo. They offered suggestion to alter the design that help better meet the needs of the space. The finish work is better then the work in the rest of the house. We are very particular with how our home looks and were very happy to see that this work in the basement was done so beautifully. They are very easy to work. We have several others things to look at in the future and will be calling Sage to do the work!
Description of Work: Sage construction finished our basement approx. 900 sq ft. Framed in 2 unfinished storage areas, 2 large open rooms, 1 smaller room and a full bath. Sealed basement cracks prior to starting the framing, Helped design the layout and worked with us on incorporating design elements that would get the best use of our space. Took a photo of a built in bookcase and window seat and built it to fit a small wall in our space Enclosed mechanical areas- worked to make areas efficient and useful as well as walling out the areas. Installed lighting that fit the needs of the space

Andy and his crew were extremely professional, prompt and approachable. They took care of ordering all of the fans, lights, etc...and were thoughtful about matching the style of our home in all of their recommendations. We felt so comfortable with the crew that we never hesitated to leave the house while they were completing projects - we would have left Andy the key if we needed to! We ended up not putting the house on the market and are instead thinking of a master bedroom expansion and screen porch addition instead -and on 8/30/12 we had Andy to come out again to talk through those project ideas. Because of their thoughtful (and innovative) approach to projects, their construction skills and their down-to-earth style we would highly recommend Sage Construction.
Description of Work: We needed our "punch list" done before putting our house on the market. Sage helped us take care of several items, such as adding exhaust fans and lights in the bathrooms (and venting the fans properly outside); added lighting to the master shower and replacing all exterior soffit lights (which required extreme innovation on their part, because replacement parts were impossible to find for our 1950s-era house.)

Andy was prompt and professional in coming to review the situation and learn what I was looking for. He writes his estimates on weekends so there was a bit of a delay in getting his quote. Once it arrived, the quote was very reasonable and well presented, but we decided to go with one of the proprietary garage organization companies. But I would certainly consider Sage for any future remodeling work.

When Andy and his guys first started the job, they took the existing deck down, and he noticed some termite damage in my house. They were able to fix that in a day's time and gave even greater security to my home's foundation. And he didn't charge me an arm and a leg to repair it. He's honest and a man of integrity. His work may be a little more expensive, but it is so worth the extra for the quality of work he does and knowing he stands behind the work he does. He was in continual contact with me right before he started the work. There was a delay because of all the rain we had in the spring. As soon as he was able, he started the job. He was always open to answering questions when I got home from work and saw the progress being made. He and his workers always made sure they cleaned up the area before leaving each night. Andy and his crew were always kind and behaved like gentlemen. Andy's attention to detail and his integrity ensures that it's built soundly and also to code. He realized after he had put the black metal spindles in that the middle railing was 3" shorter than it needed to be to be up to code. So he creatively came up with a solution and added another piece of wood to the top of it that looks great and meets code. I was impressed that they asked what color I wanted the french doors to be (interior and exterior) as well as the doors to the heat pump/hot water heater closet in the hallway. They went above and beyond in taking care of even the tiny details. They noticed the carpet was wet near the heat pump and alerted me to it right away so I could get it checked on (and thankfully it was an easy fix that happened within a day). I've had only a couple of issues since the completion of the work...the door on the porch leading to the stairs was sticking and the screen got accidentally pushed out. Andy was out to my house within a couple of days and moved the hinges 1/4" as well as stapling the screen and making a frame around the screen to hide the staples. The door works great now and the screen is secure. He's also given good advice as to what types of stain/sealant to use and the timing of application. It took approximately 3 weeks to complete the work. I HIGHLY recommend Sage Construction without hesitation! I will use them again when I need any remodeling or additions done for my house.
Description of Work: They tore off the existing deck and built a 14' x 14' screened in porch and steps onto the back of my house. They did an excellent job connecting the roof line with the existing house roof line, making sure shingles matched and that water would flow well into gutters. They installed a ceiling fan/light in the ceiling and installed french doors from the house to the porch. It's a pretty "simple" structure in that I have screen from floor to ceiling, but it came out even better than I imagined! They also reconfigured the doors that open to my heat pump and hot water heater in my hallway. The previous doors needed to be taken off to change the air filter. They installed beautiful doors and created an opening where I can get to the filter with ease. They also painted these doors the color I wanted.

I emailed or left messages from a few companies I had identified through Angie's List and Andy was the first to reply. He was quick in scheduling an appointment and returning the estimate. The project began a couple weeks after the materials were purchased but we had a few delays mostly due to not finalizing plans with the tiler before the project began. Their work was great and we are very happy with our kitchen.
Description of Work: They helped us complete our kitchen remodeling: back-splash tiling, under-cabinet lighting, moulding and drywall patching.

Andy had done a kitchen remodel in a neighbors house, so I had him quote finishing my full basement. Andy handled everything from the design stage to carpet installation. Not only did he listen to our ideas, but added his own creative design solutions to the mix. He was not the least expensive of the remodel companies we had quote the job, but we could tell after meeting him that he would back up price with top-notch service and quality construction. If you want it done right, he's your guy. I can't say enough good things about our experience. Andy and Gary were truly a pleasure to work with. They did a lot of the work themselves, but the few companies they brought in for cabinets, granite and carpet (ADS, Refine KT & Bath) were equally as professional and helpful. I 100% trust the quality of the job they did and highly recommend them for any job. We will use them again when it's time to remodel our bathroom!
Description of Work: Full basement finishing. Work included but not limited to ceramic tile shower, custom woodwork in a theater area, custom wood bar w/granite top, exercise room, queen bedroom and cabinet/craft area.

Andy finished our full basement back in January--which looks awesome. Directly after that job was complete, Andy and Gary removed cabinets in our kitchen making room for new pantry cabinets and a larger island. He added new crown molding, trim, under cabinet lighting, a tile backsplash and down draft cooktop. He enlarged our existing pantry and added shelving. On the wall that seprated the DR from the KT, he cut in a large arched opening over the cook-top, which really opened up the space visually and made the DR feel like more of a part of the house. Andy and Gary do a large percentage of the work (from design to install). They are both perfectionists with a good eye for design and detail work. They are incredibly professional, approachable and hardworking. I 100% reccomend them for any project big or small.
Description of Work: Removed cabinets, added pantry cabinets, double oven, granite counter tops, custom pantry and opened up wall to view dining room from kitchen.

Sage Construction completed their second project for us in August after being recommended to us by a family member who contracted for bathroom remodel with them. Andy Peabody (owner and head contractor) and his crew did work in our kitchen, removing bulkhead and moving and installing lights--can, pendant, and cabinet undermounted. It was not difficult to schedule an estimate. We waited a few days for the estimate in writing, but then it was not an unreasonable wait to schedule our project. The price was excellent but not so low that it was too-good-to-be-true (haha!). We paid half up front, when work began. Our project was accurately represented in his estimate as far as what to expect with mess and unavailability of the kitchen and was completed right on time and even slightly under-budget! The remodel work involved ceiling and wall drywall repair and repaint. They were very conscious of the mess and invasive nature of such a project and did their best to minimize thru covering surfaces and blocking off the affected section of the kitchen as tightly as they could. Re-painting was thorough, edges and touch up completed nicely anywhere it was needed. The kitchen was solidly reassembled and the ceiling repair seamless. Andy came and looked everything over and made sure were satisfied before collecting the remainder of his price. Andy is easy to speak with and contact, via phone, email or text. Each worker we had in our home was hard-working, courteous and friendly. They were mostly punctual, which, in our experience with semi-independent contractors, is rather unique! We felt that what sets Sage apart is their conscientious attention to detail and respect for the homeowner, whether in the context of communication or the work itself. We are very pleased with Sage, their work, prices, and interactions and we will hire them again in the future!
Description of Work: Kitchen cabinets and range hood removed and stored for the duration of the project. Kitchen bulkhead torn out and rebuilt smaller. Florescent lighting removed, original can lights moved, and new ones added (wired and installed). Section of ceiling re-drywalled and textured. All of ceiling repainted. All of bulkhead re-drywalled repainted. Pendant lights wired and hung. Cabinets reinstalled and range hood rewired and hung. Lights wired and mounted underneath cabinets.

Sage showed up as expected to get my drawings and get nore details for the job.Indicated that a 1st quote would be available in a couple of weeks. However after about 1 week Sage called back and indicated that this specific expansion was a little outside their expertise. So we did not move forward with Sage Construction. However I applaud their honesty in turning down this job before we both found out it was going to be a potential problem. I would ask Sage to quote other jobs in the future should they arrise.
Description of Work: Called Sage Construction to get a quote on an attached garage addition and other work to the existing driveway and garage.
I can't say enough nice things about Andy and his tile man, Brandon. If there was an A+ category, they would get it from me. I chose Sage because they had a competitive estimate, a great idea for fixing my storage problem and green credentials. I knew when the project was finished my bathroom would look better than it did, but what I got was far nicer than anything I could have imagined. Andy was great to work with. His estimate was almost right on the money. He made the storage cabinet which was installed in the wall between the bathroom and bedroom, and did a great job on it. Brandon, who did most of the physical work, with the exception of some plumbing and the bedroom painting, is a true artist. He took my ideas for the tile and made them even better by adding little details I would not have come up with. When I had to make a decision on things like plumbing fixtures or the medicine cabinet, he advised me ? and was always right. The drywall and plasterwork he did on the back of the cabinet matches the existing walls of the bedroom perfectly. Both Andy and Brandon ALWAYS called before showing up to work in the morning which is a little thing, but shows how considerate they are. And when the bathroom was finished, Brandon cleaned up so well you could hardly tell he'd been here. If anybody deserves to be on the Page of Happiness, it's Andy, Brandon, Brian (who painted the bedroom,) and Carl and his plumbing crew.
Description of Work: This was a remodel of a small bathroom. It involved tiling the floor, a new shower and part of the wall. The rest of the wall and the ceiling were painted. A new storage cabinet was installed between the bath and the adjoining bedroom which also involved drywall on the bedroom side. The existing toilet and sink were kept, but moved to make more space between them. A light/fan fixture was also installed. They also painted the adjoining bedroom so that the bedroom and the painted part of the bathroom would match.

The house looks GREAT! We are very pleased with the quality and promptness of their work. They came when they said they would and devoted their whole crew to our project until it was finished. I highly recommend Sage Construction and owner Andy Peabody.
Description of Work: Sage Construction extensively remodeled our 1965 farm house which included a new kitchen, a new bathroom, updating a second bathroom, adding a laundry room, installing a heat pump, and replacing all the hollow doors with solid wood doors. They also painted the entire interior of the house, added a bay window in the dining area, and replaced all the light fixtures.

Andy was very professional and kept us informed throughout the process. The sub that did most of the work was very pleasant and did an excellent job. He offered great advice on the tile patterns! Any questions that we had were immediately addressed. When we decided to have the cedar taken down (after we had the tile put in) they worked it into their schedules so that we wouldn't be without a bath for long. Andy worked with us to keep the costs down and still end up with a very beautiful bathroom. All in all, it was an excellent experience and the end product is beautiful.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel. Remove carpet and tiles, old Jacuzzi tub, toilet, cedar panelling. Install new tile, new whirlpool tub, new drywall, new toilet, new shower door, new faucets and paint.
Andy stayed on top of everything from start to finish. He is very professional and patient. Anyone he recommends to do work does an excellent job. Our bathroom looks beautiful! He even noticed a flaw in the painting that was done prior to his work and respackled the spot and repainted so it would look great. I would highly recommend Andy to do any remodeling. He is a true professional and others in the industry really respect him.
Description of Work: Andy removed the old cabinet and countertop and installed new ones. He also re-did the moldings around the floor. He rewired the lighting to remove an above mirror light and installed two beautiful side sconces. He moved the plumbing from off center, to center for the new sink. He fixed the door so it would close and he installed all new accessories. He painted the bathroom and door. He had a new mirror installed.
Very smoothly. Andy and everyone he sends to work on projects are very professional. We are very pleased
Description of Work: We needed window protection for our pool house. The shutters that were there were falling apart. Andy suggested putting solid wood pieces in instead. This was much more economical and practical. He sent someone over right away and he finished the job promptly. Andy suggested that we slant the window sills to prevent pooling of water. All of this was done very professionally. When an adjustment needed to be made, Andy saw to it immediately.

We could not be more pleased with Sage Construction! Every detail was perfected. Even the inspectors commented on the perfection of the work! We were so pleased with the great communication, the quality of the work of Sage and the subcontractors. Bonus were the cleanliness, professionalism and timeliness. If you're looking for quality construction with integrity behind it, you need not look further! We highly recommend Sage to anyone and give them our highest praise!
Description of Work: We hired Sage Construction to build on to the back of our home. They gutted and expanded our kitchen and built a laundry room. Additionally, they converted the existing laundry room to an entry/locker room off of our garage. Finally, they built a large patio beyond the expansion.

With his estimate, Andy presented us with unique design ideas for our limited space and took into account our ideas. He was very flexible to work with and kept us updated with progress and asked for our input when necessary. We were very pleased with the people who worked for him, both the tile guy and general labor help. They were all very courteous and easy to work with. Our bathroom feels much bigger and we have more storage than we need. We could not be happier with the work Andy did and it was a pleasure working with him. We would definitely recommend him and the services he provides based upon our experience.
Description of Work: We had our master bathroom remodeled because of a leak. The entire bathroom was gutted down to the studs and a dividing wall in the room was removed. Andy moved the wiring and duct work accordingly and had a plumber move the plumbing and then he did the drywall. His tile guy tiled the floor, walls, and ceiling of our shower as well as the floor and backsplash. Andy modified a large doorway into our master bedroom to a standard size and installed a pocket door. A new vanity and linen cabinet were installed. Andy helped us find great deals on a granite countertop and our fixtures. He custom-made the frame for our mirror and finished details such as putting the hardware on the cabinets and putting the hooks and towel bar on the walls. We chose to do our own painting and it was easy to do between his projects. To meet code, Andy installed hard-wire smoke detectors in all of our bedrooms upstairs and was flexible enough to also wire for overhead lighting in each room, which we asked him to do after he had begun the project. He had the idea to install a tube skylight in the bathroom which has added an incredible amount of natural light in the previously darker room. With this skylight it seems as if there is a light on in the bathroom during the day.

We were meeting another person 3 months ago. He was selling a different kind of thing. It was a couple of thousand dollars to have it done. We decided that we would be able to have our bath stained a few times for the same amount. So we had Sage Construction stain the bath. He is a very pleasant young man. He was always on time. He always cleaned up after everything. We could not ask for a nicer person. The price was very reasonable. I don?t remember how much he charged. My husband paid the bill. At that time we decided it was reasonable. He was very pleasant to work with and he had done a fantastic job in building our deck. We will consider using him in the future.

My wife is a painter, and so I am getting this room down here finished for her. She does oil and things like that, and so it is in the lower level. Work progressed as planned. He had a few people that helped from time to time. He had a sub do the drywall. Everyone was very good to work with and cleaned up every day. My wife felt very comfortable having everyone in our house that worked for him. We had very little dust make it to the upstairs during the construction. After every day, the site was cleaned very well. As consturcion progressed, we spend quite a bit of time with Andy discussing options. Smaller changes that did not cost him or extend the time were no cost. Larger ones came with a change order. These larger ones were changes we wanted. They were not becuase the original quote left anything out. We were very please and Sage will be the first company we contact for future work.
Description of Work: Full basement finishing, including a full bathroom. Andy's estimate included recommened details that we used. These included ideas that would help reduce the size of the bulkhead which encloses the plumbing and duct work. This attention to detail is what caused us select Sage.
