They did come on time and did a great job. Everything was positive about them. The price that they gave was reasonable and they did do quality work. I would use them again.

The side cable broke around 8 or 9 in the evening. They came out right away and fixed the problem. I wasn't expecting anyone to show up until the next day because it was Sunday evening. They were very responsive. The door works like new.

I ended up feeling saddened by human nature after this experience. We could afford to be ripped off; I could not help but think how devastating this would have been to some elderly person's fixed budget. Maybe because we live in a big house they thought it was ok to stick it to us. Companies like this are why we joined Angie's List. I never expected to find someone like this on Angie's List.
Description of Work: My husband did not know that you could search for services using different criteria such as what overall grade. He just searched garage doors and this was the first company on the list at the time (not the highest rated) and so he called them. He was told that our garage doors both needed reinforcements and I am unsure of what reasoning they gave him for how it was cheaper than buying new doors and openers but he had them do the work against my wishes which was to replace the doors; which I thought would be about the same cost. So he has this work done and the next day the one door has the same problem, they come out and "adjust" it. My husband left back out overseas where he works and I went to California for a few weeks to look at homes to buy. When I came back the door would not open again. I called the company and the first thing the guy says is "well it must be something new because it has worked all this time" I told him we had not used the door since the last time they came, I was out of town. They sent the same guy out. The guy opens up the bottom of the door opener and I see him reach his hand in and snap off a little plastic piece that rotates as the motor rotates. It is not a piece that breaks on it's own, it only breaks if someone tries to remove it without removing the circuit board on the side before removing it because it needs to be pulled out not down or you will break it. I witnessed what he did with my own eyes. He said "well, here is your problem" I am going to have to go special order a new one of these if I can but you may need to buy a whole new opener". I told him to get out of my garage - I was furious. I called the owner and he was trying to stick up for their charges which were outrageous and did not fix the problem. I have since then hired someone else on Angie's List that has a better rating and they said the whole problem of what it was doing had nothing to do with the doors and that the repairs that the other company made could have been performed by any other company for a couple of hundred dollars and what's more is that we could have gotten new garage doors for the amount we paid for repairs we did not need. He said the problem is not the thing that guy broke off. It was a problem within the motor itself and that he could take it apart and diagnose it but it would probably be a better bet to just get a new opener - which I did and it was a very super reasonable price and labor charge was also very low.

When I called to request an estimate I was told that there would be a $55 service charge. (which was fair) I requested an appointment for Saturday. The gentlemen showed up on time, and I told him that the white plastic gear on the inside of the opener was shredded. Without opening the actual unit, I was advised that it would be more expensive to repair the unit than to replace it. I was content on his answer and decided not to use this company to make that replacement. As the serviceman was leaving he stated to me that the service charge for the visit would be $78. That was not what I was told when I made the appointment just a few days earlier, and I advised him of so. He proceeded to call his boss and discuss this. While he was still at my home, I received a call from this "boss", and he proceeded to tell me that there was a gasoline surcharge. I told him that I would have been more than happy to pay it if I was told in the beginning that there would be a surcharge. Since I was unaware of this I told him that I would only be paying $55 as quoted by the appointments people. Not only did he argue with me about this, saying that everyone is charging a fuel fee and with gas prices being the way they are the company doesn't have a choice, but he also tried to "sell' me their services. He told me that I shouldn't go to a retail store because they have shorter warranties and that if I found someone to install it that it would not be done correctly. I was not happy with this attempt to save his sale.

Over all great, everything went as planned and I recommend this company to everyone I talk to.
Description of Work: Called the first day and right away I knew I would use this company. Nick, the one answering the phone, said they would honor the coupon right away and recommended that if I want to call other companies to get prices I should. I set up an appointment and called two other companies, they were not helpful and acted like I was bothering them. I called Nick back and confirmed appointment. Jarod, the one who came out to do the estimate was there when he said he would be and even called to let me know when he was about 5 minutes away. Nick called back the next day and said that he was confirming the appointment for the install. Great Follow Up.

I called the company because I was having a problem with my overhead door on a Tuesday afternoon, and the service was scheduled for Thursday morning between 8:00 & 10:00 AM. At approximately 8:15, the service technician called and said he would be at my house in about 15 or 20 minutes. He arrived at about 8:30 and inspected the door and the opener and determined that I would need a new door. He quoted me a price for the new door including installation to which I quickly agreed. He said he would turn in the paperwork the next morning and that the office would call to schedule the installation. He said it would probably be Monday of the next week before they could get the necessary parts to do the job, because my door was not a stock door, it required a low headroom track. On Friday I received a call from the company to schedule the installation, which was scheduled for Monday morning between 8:00 & 10:00. I received a call from the technician around 8:30 or so saying that he would be at my house within the next half-hour. He arrived promptly a little after 9:00 and promptly set to work removing the old door and installing the new one. When he had the new door installed, we tested the automatic door opener that is currently installed & found that apparently because of the age of the opener, there was another opener in the vicinity that was operating on the same frequency as mine & causing problems with my car transmitter. He said could install a new one then or we could try and leave the old one in place and just disconnect the remote (which he suggested I do for the time being), and the door and opener worked just fine. I think I am going to give them a call in a week or so and get a new opener installed, because it is a real pain to have to back the car out of the garage & then get out of the car & go close the door with the wall button & then do the reverse when I get ready to put the car away.

Professional, arrived on time, quick, cleaned up after himself but very pushy about replacing the springs to the garage door after I had said I could not afford it this month. Basically, wrote on the receipt that my 30 year guarantee was void due to my inability to make that additional repair that day. I questioned if I was being pushed a sale rather then a real need. I will validate if the springs really need to be replaced as urgently as described.

July 11, 2006: They were on time and arrived for work within 2 days of my call. The office staff was also good. The installer however, was very brusk and incompetent. The installation was faulty. It didn't work. They scheduled follow up to repair the installation on two different occasions and never showed up. The third time I called a tech did appear but said he was unable to fix it and they'd have to send someone else out. No one ever showed. On Aug 17, 2006 I spoke with Joel the manager and he said someone would come. Ultimately they never did send anyone back to repair the faulty installation, I gave up and hired another company who was able to correct their error.

Joel did an excellent job and is a good rep for the company.
Description of Work: Joel arrived right on time and looked at my broken garage door. He took the time to explain what needed to be done. Joel worked quickly and completed the necessary repairs and overhaul. He went over the charges with me and even asked me if I was a member of Angie's List...which saved the service call fee. He was very professional.

Garage door was not opening. The opener itself was humming as if it was working, but the door would not open. Called Precision. The came out the same day during the time they said they would be there. Said we needed new springs (door and opener are 18 years old). Price was $350 total. Once tech started working he said we really needed all the hardware replaced. Pkg. price was $699 that was the price with the $55 off for the service call (coupon). Tech had all the parts and replaced them within the hour. He said our actual opener and door was in great shape. Door operates fine now.

I called because I paid them $562 to repair my garage door two months ago, and it stopped working again. They said they would be here between 6 and 8; however, my wife just happened to be home when they called at 5:15 and said they would arrive at 5:35. She had to postpone her plans to wait for the technician, and I had to leave work earlier than I had planned. He said the gear inside the opener was stripped, and afterward showed me a gear that was indeed stripped. The bill was $119 for the gear sprocket and $19 for "labor or fuel charge." He was going to charge a $35 service charge, discounted from the regular $55, because they had worked on the door recently. However, when I told him I could print an Angie's List coupon, he agreed to waive the entire service charge. He explained and showed me that my other door needed the same repairs.

I APOLOGIZE THAT OUR SERVICE WAS NOT UP TO THE STANDARDS YOU WERE SEEKING. WHEN WE ORIGINALLY REPAIRED YOUR DOOR YOUR OPENER WAS WORKING, HOWEVER THE DAMAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. I MUST SAY I WAS SHOCKED TO RECEIVE A D RATING IN PUNCTUALITY, IT IS OUR POLICY WHEN WE ARE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE TO CALL, IF THE CUSTOMER IS HOME WE ASK IF WE CAN COME, AND IF THE CUSTOMER SAYS THAT IS FINE THEN WE GO, IF THEY SAY NO FOR ANY PARTICULAR REASON AND WANT US TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER A CERTAIN TIME THAT IS WHAT WE DO. WE DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER AND TAKE PRIDE IN OUR COMPANY’S COMMITMENT TO ACCOMMODATE OUR CUSTOMER’S SCHEDULE. NOW THAT YOUR DOOR AND OPENER HAVE BEEN PROPERLY REPAIRED YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS, AND WE BACK THAT UP WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON OUR PARTS. WE STRIVE FOR VALUE; WE ACTUALLY REPLACED YOUR GEAR AND SPROCKET ASSEMBLY, AND THE ADDITIONAL WORM (DRIVE) GEAR. MANY COMPANY’S ONLY REPLACE JUST THE HELICAL GEAR (THE ONE THAT WAS ACTUALLY STRIPPED), ALTHOUGH BOTH GEARS AND ALL THE BUSHINGS ARE WORN THROUGH THE PROCESS. YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN YOUR GEAR REPLACED FOR A CHEAPER PRICE, BUT NOT THE THOROUGH REPAIR WE DID. WITH DIESEL FUEL REACHING OVER $4 PER GALLON WE HAVE TO CHARGE THE $19 FUEL CHARGE AND I TELL ANY CUSTOMER THAT FINDS THIS UNACCEPTABLE WE WILL REMOVE OR REFUND THIS FEE. I HOPE YOU WILL RECONSIDER AND MAYBE CHANGE THESE RATINGS IF THAT IS EVEN POSSIBLE, AND CALL OUR COMPANY IN THE FUTURE FOR YOUR GARAGE DOOR NEEDS. THANK YOU. SINCERELY, JOEL E BELYEW

I called Precision the day that I discovered my garage door was not working properly on the recommendation of a co-worker. And just as well, they are on Angie's List. They gave me a two hour window when they would arrive the next day. The repairman showed up on time. My college age daughter met them, as I and my husband were both at work. The repairman phoned me and explained clearly what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He told me the work could all be completed that same day. I gave him the OK, and when I got home from work the garage door was working perfectly. I couldn't have been more pleased with the service.

They arrived when they said. They had all the parts needed to complete the job. The job was done in a fast a complete manner.
Description of Work: Garage door was stuck partially open. I called at 1:15 on a Friday and they said someone could be out between 2-4 that afternoon. The technician arrived at 2:45. He told me that my springs and all the hardware had worn out do to age and poor original quality. All were 10 years old. He replaced the springs, rollers, bearings and cables with premium parts and a lifetime warranty on all the parts he installed. He also lubricated the hinges, rails and the track. He made sure the door was in proper balance before he left. From start to finish he was done in about an hour. He cleaned up the area he was working in and took all broken parts with him. The door now works better than it ever had, even when it was brand new.

Disappointed! Originally they came out and looked at my issue and did not have the type of rubber to fit my door, said they had to order it. I said ok, they left and it was almost two weeks before I heard from them again. They came out and before opening the spring case (why the was necessary I am not sure) told me I need 2 new springs at $140 each for a door the has only 1 spring case. I said no and was told it was only going to get more expensive. They proceeded to put on the rubber then told me that if the ground freezes the rubber would pull off due to the bent asteral (sp?). What was the point of having it put on then? They said they could replace the asteral and use different, better rubber for $140 all together, I ok'd it. Finished the job and it looks good. They brought me the invoice for over $200 which included a service fee of 40-some dollars and $18 dollar fuel charge. Luckily I had a ValPak coupon for the service fee. These guys must have a car mechanic background! Shady!

I AM VERY SORRY YOU WERE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE YOU RECEIVED FROM OUR COMPANY. WE UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT HAVE EVERY PART FOR EVERY DOOR ON OUR TRUCKS, AND I DO AGREE TWO WEEKS IS TO LONG TO WAIT, AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. HOWEVER I AM GLAD YOU DID GET THE JOB DONE CORRECTLY AND ARE HAPPY WITH QUALITY OF WORK WHEN IT WAS COMPLETED. OUR TECHNICIANS ARE REQUIRED TO INSPECT YOUR DOOR AND POINT OUT ANY PROBLEMS THAT MAY EXIST, AND IT IS YOUR DISCRETION TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE OR NOT THERE IS NO OBLIGATION FOR THIS INSPECTION. THE SPRING SYSTEM IS INSPECTED WITHOUT TAKING ANYTHING APART IT ONLY REQUIRES CHECKING THE BALANCE OF THE DOOR, THERE ARE NO SPRING CASES TO DISMANTLE. I ALSO APOLOGIZE FOR THE FUEL CHARGE WITH COST INCREASES AND OUR FREE SERVICE CALL COUPONS WE WERE FORCED TO IMPLEMENT THIS TO COVER RISING FUEL COSTS, IF YOU FIND THIS FEE IS UNACCEPTABLE WE WILL HAPPY TO REFUND YOUR $18. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND AGAIN APOLOGIZE IT WAS NOT UP TO YOUR EXPECTATIONS, AND I HOPE YOU WILL RECONSIDER AND USE OUR COMPANY IN THE FUTURE. SINCERELY, JOEL E BELYEW
