I am a High School Chemistry teacher seeking supplemental income. I have over 17 years experience with residential and commercial window washing. I offer FREE estimates, and do all the work myself. Don't settle for dirty windows, call me ASAP for your FREE ESTIMATE, and receive fast, efficient, beautiful service.
This was a very bad experience although Josh is a very likeable guy. This is a sideline business for Josh-not his day job so to speak, and he does not operate his side business in a professional manner at all. When I first contacted Josh, I asked for an estimate and provided photos of my house and windows so he could give me a fairly accurate price. His price wasn't the lowest I received but acceptable so I arranged for Josh to come out to my house to look over my house and windows and to give me a firm price based on his inspection of the windows and the scope. Josh came out and inspected the windows and gave me a price a bit higher than his original emailed quote but I was okay with that. We arranged for Josh to come out about 2 weeks later on a Saturday to do the work. When Josh came on that Saturday, he started with the storm door on my front door and a window on my porch. I reminded him that I expected the windows to be cleaned and all any excess dirt, paint, and debris on the window to be cleaned as well since I was paying for window panes to look clean too. Josh said that his price didn't actually include cleaning any dirt in the corners of the windows or any other debris off the glass besides simply running a squeegee over the window pane. I told him that if that was all he was going to do, I could have done that myself but I hired him because I wanted a professional job. Josh said that he also didn't bring his "construction tools" with him so he couldn't scrape any dried bird droppings or mud or paint specs off because he didn't have any tools with him. I also had to loan him a screw driver to remove the storm door window pane and 2 paint scrapers which he broke. After spending 10 minutes cleaning cleaning a couple of windows, Josh gave up and said that Josh said he only spends 30-40 seconds per window and that this job was going to take 50% more if I wanted the windows entirely clean not just his regular clean. Josh said if we wanted entirely clean windows and for him to do a good job, the price would now be 50% more (I think around $350 now). But since he didn't have his tools with him anyways, we'd have to make a follow-up appointment anyways. Basically, Josh cleans windows as a sideline and wants the fast, easy money but does not come prepared with basic tools like a screw drivers and scrapers for dried debris on windows. Hiring him was a waste of 2 Saturdays for me and I'd never recommend him to anyone. Some jobs you make less money than other jobs but you should always respect your customer's time and honor your prices.
Description of Work: I hired Josh to clean the interior and exterior windows of my 3 story house excluding the attic windows. When it actually came time to do the work, he didn't come prepared and decided he didn't want to to the work because it was going to take longer than he wanted and wanted 50% more than the his original price.

Response from Josh's Window Washing
This is extremely unfair. I have never received even a complaint in 17 years of window washing, let alone a bad report. I never received a dime from this job. It was only an estimate, period, and I was at the house for less than half an hour. I don't know how it could have wasted 2 Saturdays of their time, that is impossible. It was set up in the fall of 2010, when I did the estimate, and then I was put off until the spring because they didn't want to have it done, which was a bit of a waste of my time having to drive from Noblesville all the way to downtown Indy. In the spring, I noticed much more paint on the windows than there was in the fall. I was not told about this. In fact, paint covered the windows. I have no problem getting dirt off, even in the corners of windows. But if I had seen this new paint, or they had told me about it, I would have explained to the client that I need to bring my construction tools to get it off, which of course costs more because it is more time-consuming. To make blatant claims that I'm after "only easy money" or that I "don't want to do the work" is absolutely ridiculous. I've met this person once, and we've talked for 5 minutes. I showed up, noticed the paint, and told them that I would be happy to return another day to wash the windows, but that it would be just a little bit more expensive. Because of the paint. Or I could clean ALL the dirt off the windows while I'm there, but not the paint, for the same price. The lady said that it would be NO problem for me to come back out, and that she and her husband would be willing to pay a little extra. She said that she would get in touch with me. She NEVER indicated that there was a problem, seemed very nice, because I was VERY apologetic, This rarely, if ever, happens, that I have to adjust the estimate. She seemed fine with it at the time, and then never got back to me. I never heard another word from her, and this was in April. No call to voice displeasure, no email, no contact, until I read this report, which is absolutely ridiculous. I would ask everyone who reads this report to disregard it, because it is out only to smear my good name, and as you can see from EVERY OTHER REPORT ON HERE I do fantastic work. Thank you.
