+ 2 moreJoe and his team did a good job on our home remodel. We hired them to remove a wall in our kitchen, to open it up to the family room, put in new flooring and kitchen backsplash. The work was done very well, although the flooring installation took a bit longer than expected as the team failed to work a couple of full days when we were expecting them to. All told, our project took about 3 weeks to complete. The team was very careful with our furniture and cleaned up after themselves and the quality of the work was excellent.

+ -1 moreI called him three days later to schedule the timing for the inspection and left a message, but no return call. Over the next 3 days, I called 7 times, left 3 messages and sent 2 emails - no response. So I made the decision waive Joe off and to move on.
Description of Work: Talked to Joe originally about inspecting a new house we were building (it is under construction), and he explained that he would want to inspect it at the pre-drywall stage and at Final completion.

+ -1 moreI was there during part of the inspection. Mr. Reel spent an hour or two doing the inspection. The result, according to Mr. Reel's report, was that there were few if any red flags, and those that he found were minor things which the seller, who, incidentally, hired Mr. Reel, could fix inexpensively. Once my daughter had signed the papers and moved into the house, many many things arose that absolutely should have been included in Mr. Reel's inspection report. The basement leaked. The furnace and air conditioner were not powerful or strong enough to heat and cool the house. There was a gas leak in the water heater that could have killed them. The windows leaked. The bathtub leaked. The roof leaked and had to be replaced. The list goes on and on. At best, Mr. Reel had a conflict of interest since he was hired and paid by the seller. Other possible scenarios are too unsettling to discuss.
Description of Work: Inspected my daughter's house before she closed on the sale.

He was always on time for appointments and called ahead to confirm our meetings. He also provided and quot;ball parkand quot; estimates for the work and made good solid suggestions for revisions. We ultimately decided to delay the project until next year.
Description of Work: Mr. Reel helped us evaluate the possibility of adding a screen porch to the back of our home.

+ -1 moreOver $15k in mechanical/plumbing/electrical that should have been identified and/or explained better. Saying something is a cheap fix is relative. $15k of fixes may be cheap to you, but not cheap to me. Contractor after contractor has come to our home to evaluate problems and said that our inspector should have caught this or that. We discovered that he had not gone into one of the crawlspaces in the home and now we have discovered problems in that crawlspace. He was on time. He gave us a report. He took pictures. In my opinion, he was more interested in the realtor getting a sale then protecting us from HUGE costs.

+ -1 morePoor paint job plus poor professionalism. We gave them 2 times to do it correctly and the company couldn't do it. DO NOT USE JOE REEL.
Description of Work: We contracted Joe Reel's group to paint 2 of our bathrooms. Their price was competitive so we choose them. The painters did an absolutely terrible job. There are drip spots in the master bathroom and uneven painting in the guest bathroom. We contacted Joe Reel and they came back out in an attempt to fix the mistakes. My husband stayed home from work to supervise the painters on their second trip out. They fixed half of the mistakes, and we had to contact Joe Reel again. Neither of us were able to take a third day off of work for them to come back out again. The job should have been done correctly the first time (or second time). My husband is still working on painting the downstairs bathroom to look more professional. I would never use Joe Reel's company again. Poor paint job plus poor professionalism. We gave them 2 times to do it correctly and the company couldn't do it. DO NOT USE JOE REEL.

Description of Work: I have a leak that had been going on for a while. It was causing water to pool in my garage when it rained hard. A recent severe storm/rain found water coming into our closet in an upstairs bedroom and coming down the wall of the garage along with the puddling on the floor. It had gotten worse. I had thought the water on the floor was due to a garden bed I added behind the garage which had caused grading problems. However, when Joe Reel came out to inspect the house, he immediately diagnosed the problem was coming from the roof. Years before, I had a siding job done on my home and the workers had left a small, mostly unseen, peak section on my roof unsided. Because it still had wood, it had deteriorated from water and was allowing rain to enter the house. Just to be safe, Joe also recommended a drainage line be added at the back of the flower bed behind the garage. In addition, when his man completed the work, he found that the roof trim pieces were rotting from water damage also. So, they later came out to replace those too...painting them for me. Joe was highly professional and repaired my problem. I have had NO leaks since he did the work. He knew exactly what was wrong. While we had him working, we also had him place bisqueen plastic in our crawl space. I found Joe very friendly and punctual...most helpful and easy to work with. He personally came out to inspect the work once it had been completed. A top notch, trustyworthy company. I would definitely use his company for furture work.

He did an excellent job of keeping us informed of progress including when sub-contractors would be present and just as importantly, when they would not. My wife and I agree the porch turned out better than we expected. We highly recommend Reel Construction and will use them again.
Description of Work: Reel Construction provided general contractor services for the construction of a 14' x 14' screened porch. They recommended an architect, let us review and make changes to the blueprints, submitted the documents for the building permit and hired sub-contractors. Subs included framing, roofing, painting, and electrical.
