 + -1 moreWe had a great experience dealing with Exterior Home Improvement. They were very attentive to our initial questions as well as throughout the entire process. Steve Smalley was an integral part of the entire process and made sure that we were happy with everything from beginning to end! The windows are a great improvement to our old leaking windows and are also much more quiet! The craftmanship of the interior wood trim installation was first rate, too. We received estimates from 5 different companies and Exterior was competitively priced and went the extra mile to ensure they received our business! More companies should treat their customers this way!
Description of Work: 5 vinyl casement windows were installed replacing 20 year old wood casement windows. New wood interior trim was installed around each window.

 + -1 moreThe salesman was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. He assisted us with our selection but was not pushy to spend more money. The process went as expected with no delays. The work crew was pleasant, neat in appearance and cleaned up all messes! We plan on using this company again. Update Spring, 2012: We would not use this company again based on lack of customer service after the warranty period.
Description of Work: Exterior Home Improvement replaced 10 wood casement windows and 3 sliding doors with brand Pozzi windows to match our home's original windows. They replaced rotted wood, painted the exterior trim and stained the interior trim. Update Spring, 2012: After the warranty period, two openings on the south side of our home started leaking water between the frame and the casement. We tried unsuccessfully to get help from Exterior Home Improvements. Since, we had another 20 plus windows in need of repair or replacement, we thought this company might try harder to solve our issue. After all, why put in new windows when the 20 yr old ones weren't leaking, but the new ones were. Hmmm. So first, they were going to seek a replacement for the windows from the manufacturer, but never called back after they came out and inspected the problems. We called again several months later, and were then told to call their handyman, who came out and caulked the outside of the two openings and charged us $300. Still water leaked in during rain directly hitting the windows. So, we gave up trying to get this company to help and tried several others. Finally, another company came out this spring, walked up to the windows in question, and immediately diagnosed the problem as glazing: simple and cheap to fix.

 + -1 moreI think if EHIMP was truly interested in my business, they could take measurements of their own to either confirm or negate those I already received. Then, if needed I could order the correct materials for them to install. Instead, they made no such offer, merely stating they would not perform the service requested. I feel discriminated against based on the low dollar value of the service I wanted performed, and feel the company abandoned me for this reason alone. I definitely will not recommend EHIMP to anyone in the future.
Description of Work: I contacted EHIMP and requested an estimate for storm door installation. I was interested in hiring a Pella-certified contractor, and EHIMP was the second such contractor I contacted. EHIMP told me that because I did not request or previously have them take measurements at my home, they would not install the product I already purchased.

 + -1 moreTHEY WERE NOT AS RESPONSIVE AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED. THEY DID NOT RESPOND TO THE ISSUES WE HAD AND DID NOT PROVIDE SOLUTIONS. THEY DID NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS WHEN WE CALLED. IT WAS SO MUCH EXTRA WORK ON OUR PART THAT IT WAS NOT WORTH HIRING THEM.

They used a subcontractor but Matt was here every day to check their work and make sure we were happy. We decided to change hardware and screen color after everything was installed and Matt made it easy for us to do this. company to anyone wanting replacement windows.
Description of Work: They took out all my old windows and framing and replaced. I also had some rotting boards outside adjoining the windows they replaced.

 + -1 moreThe President of the company, Steve, was the same person that gave me the estimate, helped me order the correct door, and returned after the install for a quality check-up and to confirm that my experience was satisfactory, it was. On the day of the install, three men showed up to expedite the process. During demo, they discovered some water damage that needed repair, which they did quite expertly. I would be happy to hire/recommend Steve and his crew again.
Description of Work: Had exterior doors replaced. I ordered the doors through Exterior Homes as well as the installation.

 + -1 moreOur agent was Jeff Federspiel. He was great. He was calm, professional, tried his best to give us a deal. He was polite and explained to us what he could offer us. We talked with few other companies but it was Exterior Home Improvement that gave us the best deal. When we decided to go with Jeff, he gave us a really good deal. We can be difficult to get in touch with but Jeff was very patient and kept in touch with us. He was polite and very cooperative. Jeff made the whole process very pleasant. The installation were done by Dave and Zach. They were committed to doing the best job. They did wonderful job with removing old windows, installing new windows and doors, sealing, and cleaning up after themselves. The job was first rate and was done in two days. We were impressed with their workmanship and the quality of their windows and doors. Jeff came by twice to check on the installation. We definitely recommend them for any window or door replacements.
Description of Work: Exterior Home Improvement INC replaced all windows (9) and french doors in the back of our house. We had sliding windows (7) that we replaced with double hung windows, two hopper windows that we replaced with hopper windows, and french doors (with the old doors, only one door opened and closed, with the replacement, we now can open both doors and it has blinds inside the windows.)

 + -1 moreWe signed a contract and paid a deposit in Dec, and agreed that the work would be done in Dec/Jan depending on the weather. I asked to wait until after the holidays, and they were good about that. We set the date, however, throughout the experience, every time I called the project manager, he was not prompt at calling back. The only time he called me was about payment. I let him know that I had a half a bucket of nails and casing up around the house, but he said it was because of the snow, but it wasn't. He told me he would come up and do more clean up, but hasn't come through yet. I would use them again, but I know that I'd have to always initiate the conversations.

 + -1 moreExterior Home Improvement provided a fair price and, overall, did a quality job but it took them nearly four months to complete the contracted job. I live in a small, Broadripple Bungalow that should have reasonably taken no more that a week to clean and paint (especially since the weather was beautiful) but their workers showed up only once every two or three weeks and, therefore, the painting job that started in May was not completed until Late August. The sales representative that worked on the job, Steve New, was unresponsive and unreliable and in the end the company did not remove all of their equipment, etc from my home.
Description of Work: Exterior of my home was cleaned and painted, windows were trimmed and glazed.

He was willing to stop by my work when papers needed signing, etc. He visited on-site while most of the work was completed. I was very pleased with the service and quality of all work and materials. The installer was an expert and did an excellent job. He made sure I understood exactly what I was purchasing and how he was going to install the windows in particular. They took away all scraps, etc. I will definitely consider them again for additional work. I did not get multiple quotes, but I felt comfortable with the cost.
Description of Work: Exterior installed Windows for almost the entire house, 2 glass storm doors, new back door, and gutters.

 + -1 moreWe hired EHI because we liked their Cedarmax siding and we liked representative Chris Gum's low-key manner. Chris explained all options very thoroughly to us and answered questions as many times as needed, but was not a pushy salesman. He put forth an effort to earn our business. He was always punctual and polite and followed up with phone calls. Our projects were started on time and the finished products were attractive and professionally done. Chris immediately attended to a couple of bumps we hit along the way and resolved them to my satisfaction. To me, that is the sign of a well-run company and one that you can trust.
Description of Work: Tore off old roof and replaced it with new architectural shingles. Replaced old aluminum and wood siding with new 6 inch Cedarmax vinyl siding on the top half of our house. Installed new gutters.

 + -1 moreMatt McQuiston was very helpful and went to every extent to make us happy. Unfortunately he couldn't seem to get a break on a few product delivery issues. The installation of the windows was done extremely well. I'd suggest requesting Dale on any window project. When it came to having the interior wood stained however, I would suggest hiring a 3rd party. Had several bare spots that were missed or under-stained. Lots of stain on the window hardware as well. Matt had the stainer come back several times, but I eventually gave up and did some of the touch-ups myself. Other than the staining and product delivery issues, we were happy with the experience.
Description of Work: Completely replaced all windows with Pella windows w/ blinds inside the glass. All interior trim was replaced and all of the wood was stained.

Really liked that work was done quickly within a few hours by a ''workgang'' - did not drag out for days. Workers clean and polite...minimal cleanup afterwards. Chris could have been a bit more knowledgeable regarding options. More expensive than I had anticipated, but good quality...and got an Angie's List discount. However, company does not take credit cards even though Angie's List site says they do.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 old exterior wood doors and screen door Broad Ripple bungalow. Had to reconstruct area around garage door (additional cost of $495).

AFTER HE MADE HIS PRESENTATION, HE ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS AND LET ME DECIDE WHAT I WANTED TO DO. I DECIDED TO REPLACE FIVE WINDOWS. EVERY CONTACT I HAD WITH EXTERIOR HOME IMPROVEMENT WAS MORE THAN SATISFACTORY. JEFF EVEN OFFERED TO HELP BY TAKING DOWN MY DRAPES AND SHEERS WHICH I HAD BEEN WORRIED ABOUT. ALL MY QUESTIONS WERE ALWAYS ANSWERED. ON THE DAY OF INSTALLATION, EVERYONE ARRIVED ON TIME AND THE WORK WAS DONE FAST AND EFFICIENTLY. JEFF AND THE INSTALLERS WERE ALWAYS COURTEOUS AND INFORMED ME OF EVERY STEP. THEY REPLACED AGING WOOD AND PUT IN EXTRA INSULATION WHERE NEEDED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH MY ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS.
