Decks By Design

Decks by Design of IN made a great impression during the quote process. We quoted several companies and they were by far the most organized. With photo book in hand of examples of their work with labels (fancy railing, standard railing, vertical skirting, etc), it left zero room for there to be a mis-understanding between what you wanted quoted and what the contractor thought you wanted. That gave me a nice peace of mind. They were highly competitive in price and it was a bonus that they did not require a deposit upfront which most other places did. We signed up in March and had to wait until first of June, but we were told at the time of quote that they had a waiting list. Most other vendors had said the same. Plus there were several rainy days that delayed their work progress. Once it was our turn our deck was done in 2 & 1/2 days. There were 2 main carpenters and then some varying 'laborers' on their crew. The 2 main guys were always polite and friendly and very willing to answer any questions. They cleaned up their site quite well. We only had 1 cigarette butt left in our yard afterwards. When we got home the day it was completed we found a couple minor things that needed attention and a guy came out the next day to take care of them. A month later we have a few warped end boards that have pulled screws out, which is common with the drying process of the wood, and Bruce said he will have someone out to take care of those for us. We are very pleased with our deck. We have received raving compliments from our family, friends & neighbors. We highly recommend Decks by Design of IN.

I'm not sure of the cost. Overall the work was good. The initial build was not perfect so they came back out to make the corrections to the deck. They were prompt in fixing the corrections but the initial build was sloppy. They had a new guy who was with them but they fixed it and it is perfect now.

The date and price are fuzzy memories, but Decks By Design built our staircase a year or so ago. They did an incredible job and the stairs are still rock solid and perfectly detailed (enough to remind me to write this review!). Thanks guys!

Bruce was very professional and came well prepared with various options for us to customize our deck. He did not try to give us the 'hard sell' and did not try to strong arm us into buying the most expensive option. However, we decided to go with the luxury deck and customized the features as it was within our budget range. The crew was very courteous and fast and produced Top quality workmanship. We are VERY happy with the end product and have received many compliments from Neighbours and golfers. The deck has also added value to our home. A fantastic investment which can enjoy for years to come! We also went to Lowes deck and showed them the plan...they priced it up and said that the deck would cost at least $15-17k. Great value for money. I would highly recommend this company.

That was very good. We were very satisfied. It's just the improvement of what we had before. It's nice but we never got to use it too much because it was just finished in September and after that was winter. We're anxious to start using it. They did what they said they would do. As far as I can tell, they did a good job. They did it as good at it could be done.

The experience was very good. They did a good job. They cleaned everything up. They came when they said they would. The deck looks nice. They provided a good service. I did recommend them to somebody who was thinking of a deck.

The process went smoothly. We designed our own deck and Decks by Design executed our plan to perfection, even allowing us to make a couple tweaks before construction began. The whole process was explained in full and we were kept informed about when the work would be completed, as it was their busy season. The Decks by Design crew was professional and cleaned up after themselves. We noticed a couple minor issues upon inspection when the project was completed and they came back promptly to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Their work is top-notch. We especially liked that they use screws instead of nails to secure the deck flooring, as it keeps everything tight and looking good. The deck looks beautiful and we have received a number of compliments from some of our neighbors about its appearance. We are especially glad that we paid a little more to go with cedar wood. It looks great with black aluminum spindles.

Replaced existing deck with a larger more functional deck. They did an amazing job. We absolutely love our new deck!

They cam out to do an estimate. He looked at the current deck and asked a few questions about what we wanted. He worked up a quote with a couple of options. He explained their time table and how they approach a job. There price was a little high compared to other quotes we had so we went with a different contractor.

Told him no way we you pay that amount so they did not do the job.

The overall quality of workmanship was excellent.

I've not heard from him again. I called a couple of weeks later and left a voice mail. He has not responded to my call. I do understand that I came late to the game and everyone is immensely busy, but I would certainly like the courtesy of a response, even if to say he didn't want the job...

The contractor was very easy to deal with. Very informative and great to work with. Deck was built on time and on budget.

The price they gave was by far the best of the three estimates we had received. The work took about 4 days. They did an outstanding job. They used new material called Trex and it is maintenance free. We were really pleased with work.

Replaces and expanded existing deck. They were neat with their work and completed the project quickly.

They built an awesome deck. We spent about $7000 for the deck. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened. They were very professional. Their estimate was on par. They did a really good job from start to finish. We had absolutely no complaints. There was one change we wanted to make from the estimate to the reality. They had no problems making that change for us and the deck is also better for that change. They were wonderful to work with. They were very easy to work with and easy to get a hold of. They did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves. It was a very good project altogether. They did a good job cleaning and there was absolutely no mess whatsoever. They were awesome and it was wonderful. They were terrific. I would recommend them to tons of other people and I would use their services in the future too.

We are still in the proposal stage and I will be using them in the beginning of May 2011. The bid process has been very good. Bruce, the owner, has been very responsive and responded to my emails and voice mails very quickly. He made adjustments to the proposal based on the interaction. It has been very good.

They were on time and they did a great job. They were very professional.

Decks By Design was responsive to the needs for correction of their work after dicussion. All items on my deck have been succesfully taken care of by Decks by Design.

They haven?t yet done the work for us and so I can?t comment on their punctuality and other things. I liked them and I am hiring them to get the work done.

Bruce came out and we talked over the design. My wife and I changed our mind 2 times and called Bruce each time to get his opinion and price. After the contract was signed they came out and set the posts the first day. And the following 3 days finished it up. We love it.

Bruce was terrific in response to my request for an estimate. No pressure sales. He measured, and sat with us while we looked at pictures of jobs he'd complete, and answered all of our questions. When the crew showed up to build, they were courteous, polite, and made sure the area was cleaned up when they were finished. The entire job was only 2.5 days. We now have a wonderful deck, that we are sure will give us many years of use. I would highly recomend this company to anyone. THANKS, BRUCE!

Bruce was very helpful, didn't try to push us into anything more expensive. Served our needs and gave suggestions to better the idea we originally have. Installation was FAST and it's been a year and the deck still looks great.

They did a good job. I would use them again in future.

It went well. Sales person was very promp. Install was a little spotty because of so much off/on rain we have been having. Still done in good time.
