Mike Riley came out a couple days after my first call exactly when I requested. He was very professional and had a nice folder about his company. We had a good conversation about the job and my expectations, and then I went inside. Then he spent a good amount of time (probably about 30 minutes) walking around the house getting a good idea of the job. He emailed me the estimate a few days later. After I had all the other quotes from other Angie's List painters, we chose Country Painting. They were the cheapest of the three painters we found on Angie's List and the reviews convinced me I would get quality work. We were also getting new gutters, so Mike requested to have the gutters removed before painting and installed after painting. With the three week lead time, this ended up being no problem. I feel we got a more thorough job by doing this, but it wouldn't have been worth it without new gutters coming in. The gutters were removed Sept 13. Painting started a couple days after I expected on Sept 18, but I think that was weather related. The crew of 4 painted from Sept 18 through the weekend and finished on Monday Sept 23, the same days the gutters were installed. That worked out really nicely. Hs crew of four had very nice, cordial, and hard working men. They asked if they could come back on Sunday. They parked in the cul-de-sac and kept their stuff out of our way. They came back for all the touch ups I asked for after we had our new garage door installed. All in all, country painting gave us a great price and did a fantastic job from start to finish.

Mr. Owen Riley from Country Painting was the very first vendor to respond to my request for quote from 3 Angie's List exterior painters. He was prompt to come to my house on the appointed day/time. He actually called me that he may be few minutes late. We had a quick walk around the house to identify areas to be cleaned , wood replaced, and painted. I really liked that Country Painting was trulyfamily owned and three people pictured on the brochure did all the work and NO substitution - unlike the industry norm where many labor intensive jobs these days are sub contracted out. Owen was very professional and my overall impression was that I would choose him if nothing significant comes from other vendors. In fact Owen's quote was VERY reasonable with 25% Angie's list discount. Although I chose another vendor to paint my house, Owen was a VERY close second choice. I would highly recommend others to give Country Painting a call for any paint jobs they have in mind.

Mike Riley was very responsive to our request for an estimate and came out a couple of days after my initial contact with him. He was professional throughout all aspects of the process. I liked the fact that the company is family-owned, taking pride in the work that is performed, and making sure that the work was completed to our satisfaction. Although there were weather related delays, Mike made sure to communicate with us as to an anticipated work schedule, which was appreciated.

I was given a price quote that was heavily discounted as part of their spring promotion. The job included power washing, paint scraping, minor wood repair, some siding replacement, caulking, primer on bare wood and two coats of paint. It took about two months from the time of the quote until the work started. The power washing went well and was done about 1 week before the painting started. A crew of three did some scraping and painting with a second coat going on almost immediately after the first (at least when I saw it happen). I mentioned this and was told that the paint was dry enough for the second coat. I guess that is the way it is done, I'm no expert. I failed to notice any primer going on the bare wood and brought this up with both Owen and Mike Riley. At one point people were in the back painting patches of bare wood and the man out front had the can of primer (he went to find it in response to my concern that they weren't using primer). I was eventually told that the paint had primer in it already and that the small bare areas don't need primer and that they have never had any problems with my paint. They DID use primer on the new siding that was being put on the house. Finally, the two-year guarantee was mentioned as a fail-safe for any problems. They spent a lot of time scraping and painting windowsills and window frames. They also were very happy to come back and redo parts that needed to be touched up. They did a fair amount of siding replacement and replaced a few other small wood pieces. All of this looks very good. They were not equipped to do rotten window wood replacement and I was told that, so I had other contractors do that. They did attempt a minor repair that needed just some wood filler and some sanding. The first repair looked like they just painted over the area. A second attempt was not much better and a third attempt didn't help a whole lot. The price quote was a lot less than the others I received, but these others also included rotten window wood repair. When I added the extra costs I paid to repair rotten windowsills, etc., the price was similar to the others and I would not have had to deal with finding my own contractors to do the window repairs. Everything looks great and the Owens are good to work with. The crew cleaned up very nicely, too.

They were good. They just did a really good job. They were prompt. They were very detailed and thorough. When we had a question they came back right away.

Because the project was interior, we knew that it could happen any time it was going to rain as outside painting is priority at this time of year. We got a call two days in advance asking if they could come and work inside. They arrived on time with a good sized crew and immediately began to mask and spread drop clothes. This was about 9:30 a.m. and they were walking out the door a little after 2:00 p.m. There was no down time except for a few minutes they took for lunch. The ceiling got two coats and looks great and the foyer as well. Two of the crew have been with Country Painting for 9 years and the others just a few years less. There were not green horns. We were a bit skeptical with the low bid, wondering how they could do the job that cheap. We checked Angie's list and they had great reviews. We are very happy with Country Painting.

Totally professional experience from estimate to completion.

I received Mike Riley's referal from an employee at the paint store.Mike came to give an estimate. He is very professional and polite. I had two additional estimates.both were considerably more expensive. I had requested two quotes.from him...one that I would purchase the paint and one quote that he would provide the product. I decided to let Mike purchase the paint. He provided a folder describing the history of Country Painting and a contract. On the designated start date, Mike and 3 crew members were punctual and went directly to work. They were like well oiled machines..each knew what his job was for the day. Everyone was very considerate and polite I have had new carpet installed since the painting and Mike has volunteered to come back and touch up areas that have been marred. When I need additional painting, I will definitely call Mike Riley and Country Painting. and will eagerly pass his name on to others.

They offered suggestions. They have a color specialist that comes out and work with you to pick out colors that would work in your house, which is free of charge. We were happy with the finished product. They did a very good job.

I think people have to understand how much prep would be done prior to painting because it don't usually start off very well. People are usually just interested in just hiring a painter and there's things for example like changing out wood, scraping, and working on problem areas. These things should be in the contract so that both parties clearly understand. They did those things pretty well, but it would have just been nicer to have in a contract because they had a couple of spots where we needed to change out the wood and they knew that and wrote it up. We had to have them come back and do one of the areas again in which they did at no charge and it worked out really well. My recommendation for anyone hiring external painters is that you should discuss things like scrapping old paint prior to hiring a painter I believe. They were really good and did a very good job. They were very professional and cleaned up everything very well.

I think it went very well overall. Mike was prompt in returning my calls (less than 24 hours since he's busy) and professional. His quotes are detailed and has a brochure describing his services that he brings to all projects. He was very accomodating in finding the right amount of work for the money and in setting up a time to come and complete the job. On the day of the work, he brought several of his employees who were also professional and respectful. They put down a lot of painting tarps to prevent any dripping or spilling. They did happen to get some of the paint on the wood floors but were very quick to remove the paint to prevent any staining. Over the last few years, I have had several contractors come to my house for various types of work and County Painting are were the most thorough, professional, and respectful than any of the other contractors. I would recommend Country Painting to anyone who needs interior painting done.

Contacted the company in the morning and Mike Riley was able to come and give an estimate that afternoon.He arrived when he said he would, was clean, polite and very professional during the process. Once we selected them to do the work we set a date. They arrived on that date around 10:00 am to do the power washing. They then came back the next day at 9:00, checked in with us and described what they intended to accomplish that day. They finished that day around 4:00, cleaned up the area and then, before leaving, gave an update of what was actually accomplished and the expectations for the next day. That process was repeated until the job was complete 2 days later.Mike and his assistant treated us and our property with respect. They gave a 24 month warranty on all the painting and did not exclude the horizontal areas around the deck like others did.

I met Mike Riley at the Indianapolis Home Show. He followed up from our contact at the show promptly and we schedule an appointment for an estimate. He had no trouble scheduling the estimate off business hours to accommodate our work schedule. Mike was very professional and courteous during the estimate and I was very comfortable with his demeanor. I had intended on obtaining at least 2 more estimates before making a decision regarding who to hire, however, while I was awaiting the 2 other estimates, Mike called and said he would be working in our neighborhood in the next week and would offer an additional $150 discount if we would schedule the work for this upcoming week. I decided to go for it and we scheduled for Thursday of the next week. That week end I obtained the paint colors (2 partial cans from my daughter's house) and Mike picked them up Tuesday evening. He called on Wednesday and asked if delaying until Friday would be a problem due to the fact that his current clients had requested he perform some additional work. It was not and we rescheduled for Friday. Friday morning Mike and his brother showed up promptly @ 8:00am and began working immediately. I worked from home this day and stayed near at the kitchen table. Both Mike and his brother worked quietly and diligently. They removed the small amount of furniture and decorations in the foyer to the area indicated and began with taping. They were sincerely amazing. We had severe storm warnings this day (It was the day Henryville got hit by the tornadoes), and my daughter and two young granddaughters came over to take shelter from the storm. There were several occasions we needed to step around them and vice a versa using the guest bath off the foyer. It was also necessary for me to request they move their supplies away from the basement doorway (also off the foyer) due to the storms. We kept on eye on the weather channel and all the while Mike and his brother continued working. At around 5 pm Mike let me know they were finished and requested I take a walk through and inspect the job. I was truly surprised how great everything looked. They applied two coats of paint to everything including the trim. The foyer and hallway look great. This is a high traffic area up the stairs and it receives a lot of light. There is no dappling in the color and the lines through out where trim meets paint are perfect. I have been doing my own interior painting for years. After this experience with Country Painting I understand and appreciate the value of having professional painters come in and will seriously give Mike a call when I'm ready to complete my home decorating!
