Beck's Chimney Sweep

Project went very well--on time when they said they would be there. price for the job was just what they had indicated ahead of time. We are very pleased.

Becks performed the annual cleaning of our chimney. The service technician put drop cloths over the carpet before he started cleaning. He then swept the firebox, cleaned the chimney and vacuumed the remaining debris. He inspected the firebox and explained the crack in the back wall was nothing to worry about. He recommended we get a glass door to help with heat loss.

My overall experience was good with them. I would absolutely use them in the future.

The lady who answers the phone and sets appointments was delightful. It is nice to speak with someone who enjoys their job. The crew was very prompt on the day of service. They are very professional in their work habits and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. They also made a few recommendations that were appreciated. They cleaned up the work area and left it neat and orderly.

This was to ensure that there we would not encounter any future water damage. He did a great job, and I was happy with his service. If I need to, I would certainly consider using them again. They are very personal, and thoroughly explained everything to me.

The gentleman arrived and upon seeing the fireplace stated that his job was going to be easy because the fireplace did not require cleaning. I then shared with him that we could not get the pilot to light and he stated that he did not do repair work only cleaning. He proceeded to the second fireplace and again stated that this fireplace was clean and he did not have to do any cleaning to this fireplace as well. He then said he would check the outside and see if it was clean. Once again no service was needed or performed. He then handed me a bill for $125, which I immediately stated $125 for nothing and he simply replied yes. I can understand charging a fee for his time, but for charging full price for services not provided is unacceptable.

Called approx 11/11. Service 11/16. Vendor called day of service to ask if they could come 30 minutes earlier than sceduled. We agreed. Arrived early as agreed. Vendor polite, clean, efficient, professinoal. Vendor noted issues to be followed on furture visits.

Reception staff was very, very, nice and easy to work with around scheduling. On the day of service, Gene Beck arrived early and was finished well before the 1 hour estimate. He was extremely efficient and professional and I will definitely call Beck's again.

I called and asked about an inspection / sweep and was given a comprehensive run-down of the services that would be performed and what the cost would be. I mentioned that I purchased the Big Deal from another highly rated chimney sweep on Angie's List and it was a total nightmare. After several rescheduling issues and finally being told that my chimney was impossible to sweep, I asked for my money back from the other company and called Beck's. They assured me that they would do their best to help, but even then, I was skeptical. In the end, I had no reason to worry. Beck's called me a day before the appointment to confirm. Gene (I think that's his name) called about an hour before saying that he could be there a bit early if that was OK. It was fine with me and he met me right on time. He was very professional and knowledgeable and was happy to answer any questions that I had. He explained that the other company might have had trouble cleaning from the bottom up but he said it was no problem, and quite common, to clean from the top down. He worked carefully both inside and out of the house, ever mindful of my property. He set up drop-clothes and covered the fireplace with another cloth before turning on his quite and dust-free vacuum. He gave me some input on the condition of my chimney and let me know of some preventative maintenance measures. The whole process took roughly 40 minutes and once he was gone, you would never have known he was there. Great experience all around. Thank you!

Gene Beck cleaned and inspected the fireplace/chimney in our limestone ranch, built in 1952. As always, he was on time, neat, and very professional. I wouldn't have known he had been here had my husband not reminded me - not a trace of the cleaning was left! He noticed some mortar that might need to be repaired on the chimney crown, but said it wasn't an emergency. Gave an estimate of the cost to do the repair, and said he would send us a reminder in the spring if we'd like to have it done then. So nice to have a professional make a recommendation and be honest about the urgency (or lack thereof). We have used him before and will continue to use him. Will use him for the repair when it's time as well.

It was wonderful to hear that our chimney actually did not need cleaning at this time and it would be a waste of our money to have them sweep it out. He could have just cleaned it and I would never have known that it actually did not need to be done. How wonderful to hear from an honest person. When Gene did inspect our chimney he found however that our trim boards should be sealed (caulked) and painted which we will have taken care of.

They were friendly, neat, clean and quick! They were very polite and they were actually early!

Team arrived in uniform and with well-marked van 30 mins ahead of scheduled time (did try to reach me by phone), offered to come back at scheduled time if not convenient then. Had them proceed. Laid out drop clothes, cleaned firebox and flue, inspected flue and exposed portion of chimney (above roof line), as well as chimney caps, and mortar joints. Gave a verbal report of findings re condition of structure, as well as answered all questions I had regarding same, need and frequency for future inspections and cleanings. Mr. Clift recommended 3 year interval for my installation (a vented gas log system), and stated a reminder card at that time would be sent by the company. Explained clearly why even vented gas log installations need to be cleaned periodically. Although no signs of problems at this time, he recommended I purchase (from any hardware store/home supply center) inexpensive plug-in type CO monitors, for general safety considerations, to place near the fireplace and the several other gas-fired appliances in my home. Very friendly, courteous, professional, and efficient throughout. Left everything in order and clean. An excellent experience overall.

They do a great job. I've used them for years. I use them annually in the fall to come in and clean my chimney. The quality is good and they are reliable. I don't remember what I spend but their value for the money is good.

They did the work very quickly and within a couple of hours. They were quick in cleaning it up.

I watched and asked a lot of questions, and they were patient and gave me all the information that I wanted. They were prompt.

He was the part of the home inspection, so he took care of the issue promptly and provided all the necessary paper works to prove to the home buyer that it has been taken care off. I thought that he did a nice job and I that assisted me in selling my home.

No problems plus answered many of my questions.

The gentleman was on time and was careful to cover the surrounding area so there was no mess at all. He also checked the outside of the chimney and advised me of a minor repair that was needed. He answered all my questions in detail. I will certainly call them again.

We've always had very good service with him. A year ago, when we put our house on the market, he gave us a list of what needed to be done and an estimate for it. He suggested that we wait until the home inspection was done before we had these items done. A year later, when we had that work done, the prices were still the same. He always did what he said he was going to do in an efficient and timely manner.

Dave Clift was very friendly and professional. He did a thorough cleaning and checked the bricks both inside and outside. He have me some advice and actually found a spot that needed to be repaired which saved me costly future repair bills! I would recommend him to anyone and will use him in the future!

The first time they came, the fireplace door was too big and I had to go on special order. When we came in and brought it home, they came over and installed it within less than an hour. I am very happy with their service. I would definitely use their service in the future.
