Beck's Chimney Sweep

They were excellent. They were quick and cleaned up after themselves. They did not leave any soot behind. They returned to check a problem I was having with the fireplace insert and did not charge since it was related to the cleaning.

Gene and Dave were here and ready to go a few minutes before our scheduled appointment. They wore uniforms and presented business cards. They set right to work laying down a protective drop cloth and then swept the fireplace of ashes and the flue of built-up creosote. In the process, they discovered that the back wall of the fireplace was cracked, so they repaired that and put in a stainless steel heatback. Gene and Dave were very professional, courteous, and efficient.

Arrived promptly at 8:00am. Father and son did the job together (checking and cleaning chimney). Took about 45 minutes. They put everything back exactly as they found it. Would definitely recommend this company.

It was an excellent experience. I appreciated the fact that they made sure I knew how to operate everything, but were still in and out in less then 30 minutes.

Overall the service was good. Mr. Beck and Mr. Clift are always professional and good at getting the job done in a timely and neat manner.

They were very nice, very fine men that came out. I felt their pricing was very competitive and the cleanup phenomenal; you would never have known they were here! I would definitely recommend to anyone!!!

Gene Beck and his partner Dave arrived on time, were clean(remarkable considering their profession) and ready to work. They called ahead to be sure I was there and arrived within minutes prepared to work. They are an amazing team which allows them to be thorough and quick. They are friendly, witty and obviously enjoy working together. No problems were found. Our home was left just like it was before they got there. The carpet was clean, the furniture was replaced and all the mess (very minimal and on their tarp) was removed. I mentioned seeing a DIY segment on updating a fireplace front and Dave showed me how to remove the doors on my fireplace screen so I could do that project. He walked me through replacing the doors to be sure I knew how to do that. We have Beck's here every spring. I feel safe using the fireplace each fall and winter knowing it was cleaned professionally.

This is the third time we have used this company to check and clean our fireplace. As always, we were able to quickly schedule the appointment at a convenient time. Mr. Beck arrived promptly, worked quickly and left the fireplace and surrounding area spotless.

They did a good job but I found out later on that a lot of other companies were cheaper. I need a damper in the fire place but they told me it would be $500 so I choose to not get the damper installed.

Found a blown off chimney cap in my yard on Sunday. Called 6 companies on the list for chimney repair. Even though it was a Sunday, Becks was the only one to call back and scheduled me in the very next day. (This may not be common, I don't know). As of late Monday, I've only had 2 more of the 6 companies call me back. I live a little south of 71st street on the East side and even though there was a ALERT on the list that they wouldn't service my area, they would, they did, and they did a nice job.

Great! I set up the appointment for first thing in the morning (7:30am) so we could still get to work at a reasonable time, which was really convenient. Called to say they would be about 5 minutes late and were finished in about 45 minutes. Great piece of mind to know it's been done, and done well. Price quote was also very competitive amongst other companies I called. Big believer of Angie's List. The good reports tipped the balance.

Excellent!! Arrived on time, very professional and friendly. Completed the work scheduled, even though it was a little more difficult than we both planned on. Once finished, cleaned up, and helped move dryer back in place.

Gene returned my call within one hour and scheduled the work for very next day. He and Dave arrived on time for the appointment and quickly confirmed the diagnosis and efficiently and neatly installed the three screens. They made no mess, damaged no property and were friendly and informative throughout their 30-minute visit. Their knowledge, skill and responsiveness will always get my business.

Fantastic. They were right on time, very careful not to track in any dirt. One went up on the roof to check all aspects of the chimney from the outside, the other inspected the fireplace, damper etc. and showed me various things in the fireplace with a pin flashlight. They said it did not need to be cleaned, so I appreciated that they did not perform unnecessary work. The charges are very reasonable.

Gene was on time (actually early). Gene called about 20 minutes before arriving. Gene was professional. He took his shoes off before entering my home. He placed a canvas down to prevent any dirt getting on the carpet. He was in and out in about 45 minutes. Good experience. I will hire them again in the Spring.

I had called Mr. Beck for a chimney sweep/cleaning (it had been about 2 years, although we hadn't used the fireplace at all last year). We had a problem this summer with birds nesting in our chimney, and we wanted to make sure the fireplace was safe to use this winter. I also wanted to inquire about chimney caps to discourage the birds. Mr. Beck was very polite and friendly and quickly informed me that we did not need a sweep at this time. However, we discussed our problem with our damper not closing properly and he recommended installing one at the top of the chimney, which would also prevent birds from nesting in the future. He installed it in less than an hour and had the fireplace clean and ready to use. We have had a fire nearly every night since and are very happy!

They came out on time. They were very thorough, they looked inside and out. I felt really good about what they did. They were very professional as well. If I need any future work done, I'll call them.

Dave did a great job: inspecting the chimney inside and out, cleaning and sweeping, and cleaning up afterwards. He also educated us on repairs that we could do ourselves and future maintenance.

We had two other firms look at our fireplace (one of them was our builder) and received very different stories. We had been unable to use our fireplace for the last couple of seasons due to our fireplace being inoperable. Beck's was great to work with, figured out the issue, and fixed our fireplace in one visit. We have had two fires since and are reporting no issues.

Beck's excelled in all areas. They provided all the "basics" a consumer could ask for: prompt responses, upfront, direct, not defensive, when I fired questions at him, and spoke highly of the other company quoting for me. UPDATE: I RECENTLY HAD ANOTHER COMPANY COME OUT TO PERFORM SOME REPAIRS AND SWEEP MY CHIMNEY. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE LAST PERSON TO WORK ON IT USED OFF-SPEC MORTAR THAT DID NOT HAVE THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE RATING. THIS LEAD TO EARLY DECOMPOSITION. WE DID NOT GET EXACTLY WHAT WE PAID FOR. I CAN'T SPECULATE ON WHETHER I WAS KNOWINGLY GIVEN SUBSTANDARD MATERIALS, BUT I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT A CHIMNEY REPAIRMAN WOULD KNOW THE MATERIALS OF HIS TRADE. WHILE I AM NO EXPERT ON CHIMNEY REPAIR OR CONSTRUCTION, THE DEGRADATION WAS VISIBLY EVIDENT TO EVEN ME.

Beck's arrived ahead of time. He checked the fireplace and chimney and told me that I didn't need to have it swept until after this season. He got up on the roof and checked the brick and found spawling and recommended a waterproofing when I call them out for the Spring cleaning. He also suggested a few things for me to do which I will do before winter hits. They were very clean and did a good job at inspecting the fireplace. I will definitely have Beck out to do the cleaning in the Spring and would highly recommend them to others.

They finished in about an hour. I have not tried out the chimney, but it appears to be in working order. I had also requested repair to the concrete cap/crown, but there was a mix up and they were not ready to do that job. They were to return and finish the job later. After 10 days, of no return or scheduling, I called and canceled the work. I received a prompt call concerning this and apparently there was a communication problem. I left the job canceled as it was to be $500 plus for the concrete repair and I chose not to pursue with them.

Very well. They work very neatly and competently. Explained the repairs needed and fixed them immediately. Only one chimney (out of 2) needed to be swept- so they didn't perform unnecessary work. I was able to arrange the appointment in advance on line before I moved to the city - very convenient and responsive.

We are so pleased with the service we received from Beck's Chimney Sweep. We used them again this year to clean the chimney and check for problems. A crack in the fire box was discovered and we were given 2 options with costs involved. After choosing an option, Mr. Beck and his very capable assistant corrected the problem. They were on time, well identified and because of their team work finished very quickly. I am always so pleased that they are so very careful and clean. The fireplace is in the living room in our home and I didn't even have to vacuum when they left. I will call them again next year.
