Beck's Chimney Sweep

Everything has been excellent. He was supposed to be here at 11, but called when he got out of another job earlier to see if I would like him to come by early. They are very, very courteous and thoughtful in every way. They are very reliable and I couldn?t be happier with their work.

Very satisfied with the work done and would have the company do the chimeny cleaning in the future.

The gentleman arrived early for the appointment, which was great because I was home on my lunch hour to meet him. He began working quickly and carefully, making sure not to get the carpet dirty. He was quick, but thorough. He was kind enough to answer my many questions, and showed me a few cracks in the firebox that may need correcting in the future (but didn't try to sell me extra services...he told me what they offer, but there was no pressure). I will use Beck's again next year for sure.

Appointment was made about three to four weeks in advance due to their busy schedule. Dave Clift called me about 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled appointment to confirm the appointment and to see if he could come a little earlier. Dave arrived as promised and went straight to work. I told Dave that we had a gas log fireplace in the basement, so he immediately went to check that out and found no problems. He also took time to explain about a missing damper clip in the basement fireplace. I mentioned to Dave that one of the glass fireplace doors would "stick" and he made an adjustment which totally fixed the problem. He proceeded to do the chimney and flue cleaning and checked the chimney from the roof. He used a large floor blanket to protect the carpet and floor. No tools were on anything but his floor blanket. He cleaned up everything very well prior to leaving. Dave was very professional and very prompt.

We recently purchased our home which was built in 1977. We have never had a wood burning fireplace before, not to mention we did not know the history of the last time the fireplace was swept, so we called Beck's based on their Angie's List ratings. I was very impressed with the man who did the job. He was personable and left zero mess behind. He even took the time to give me a short tutorial on basic fireplace care and use, which was a huge help. He also checked my chimney crown and mentioned that it did need to be replaced, but that it was not an emergency. I will definitely use Beck's again.

We had never used the fireplace before, so we wanted an expert to come in and determine if it was in working order. He showed up on-time and in a professional manner. He inspected the chimney, instructed us on how to use the gas-log apparatus, and made some recommendations regarding how we may improve our gas line in the future (where an additional shut-off valve should be placed). I was very satisfied with the visit. Of course, as there was no physical work to be done, the $75 was not painless. However, we now have piece of mind regarding the fireplace and, based on this experience, we are comfortable using them again if there are future issues.

They are personable, clean, and professional. They also gave me recommendations to improve heat conservation.

The service provider called to confirm the appointment 3 days in advance. Mr. Beck arrived promptly for the appointment, and did a very through and efficient job of sweeping the chimney. He gave me a through report of its condition, and left things cleaner than he found them. Exerpiences like this are why I like Angie's List.

He also put a screening device on our chimney to keep the chimney swifts out (that had found this a nice place to nest and were a nuisance) as well as to guard against incursion by squirrels and raccoons. We were not there to speak to Dave personally when he came to perform the work, but he was very cordial and informative on the phone. I had expected to need to have a more expensive cap on the chimney, but he didn't think we needed to spend that, which I found refreshing and honest. His wife, who handled the arrangements, was very cordial and helpful as well. We would definitely use Beck's in the future and recommend this company to other homeowners both for quality of workmanship and integrity.

He was very nice and listened to what we had to tell him. He said what the thing was and didn?t charge us anything. We would use him again in future.

They came and diagnosed the problem and explained what needed to be done. They did not charge me anything as they did not do any work. I was satisfied with their service.

They made arrangements to arrive day before scheduled appointment. And they worked very efficiently and effectively to discover problem and remedy it.

The whole process went very well. They were meticulous about applying the coating.

Called over holiday weekend and got recording. I assumed they were out of town over holiday and would hear back from them when they returned. When I felt I had not heard from them I submitted a poor report on 6/24/09. In fact they had returned my call as soon as they returned and even verified it with their phone service. Our cable company had been bought by Comcast which changed our email address and our voicemail was tied to our old email address so we never received the voicemail that Beck's had left us. For this I sincerely apoligize.

Called for an estimate and found out that they charge $68 just to come out to give an estimate. This information should be posted on the Angie's List website as a warning.

This is the 2nd time they cleaned our chimneys and they are just real great. They have in the past put in a chimney cap to keep the raccoons and squirrels out. We have 2 fire places, one with the gas furnace and one with real wood fire. They come in make their inspection and make whatever changes they have to make. They even go as far as to check for gas leaks, which I thought is real good. They are prompt, punctual and they know what they are doing. They are very careful not to make a mess because it is a dirty job so they were their little paper boots and clean up the mess. I just can?t say enough good things about them. They are kind of expensive but they guys are really good and they do a good job.

Dave arrived on time and was cordial, friendly and got right to business. The whole process of cleaning and checking the chimney outside was approximately 15-25 minutes.

They were on time, professional and very thorough. The left the house very clean. We were very pleased and would you them again.

He gave me some helpful advice. He was very nice and prompt.

Dave Clift arrived promptly and went straight to work. He read the inspection report, the buyer's response and thoroughly and professionally addressed the issues with the fireplaces and chimneys one by one. He started in the basement with the gas lines and then inspected the gas logs and valve. He checked the flues, caps, chimneys and recommended maintenance for the gas logs and masonry repair for the chimneys. I will certainly use and recommend him in the future!

Process was very clean, efficient and professional. Would highly recommend.

It was fine. They let me know how much it would cost before they did the work. They came out on time and did a good job. They were in and out and they did not make a big mess.
