Awards Fence & Deck

We selected them based on the quality of our neighbors fence (6 years old). The installation will great, one guy showed up and got it done in two days. Some boards have split during the first year, but this is expected and covered by warranty. We are currently waiting for them to come replace those boards.

I contacted the company and they set a date to come to look over the project and provided me with the estimated cost for complete removal of old fence and installation of new fence. The company offered various styles from which I could choose. The company contacted the utility companies and advised me that I would need to obtain a permit from the city to replace the fence. I was called to be advised that the utility company would be out to mark the lines, which was done as scheduled and they contacted me to me know they were coming out to mark the fence location. They arrived as scheduled. When all was set they contacted me to set the removal and installation dates for the fence. Two men arrived to as scheduled to remove the old wooden fence and post. They left my property and my neighbors in excellent condition and you only knew they had been there to work because the old fence was removed and gone. The crew arrived as scheduled to set the post and returned after the post were set and installed the new cedar wood fence. The company representative came out the following day to check the new fence and to ask if I had any concerns. This company was very easy to work with and took care to work around an old Lilac bush I had near the fence. Everyone I meet at this company was professional and very knowledgeable and were able to answer any of the questions I had. They left my property as well as my neighbors in excellent condition with the tear out and new install. I would definitely use this company again and will contact them if the fence should at any time need repair.

Awards rep came out and presnted our options. Gave us a special on the 2nd gate. Scheduled the installation and had it up in one day. They were very good on working with us on HOA issues and we felt the price was competitive on other companies we searched. I'm not sure what the exact price was as this was 5 years ago. The fence is still in very good shape.

I was told several times to expect a fence within a few weeks over the past three months. Every time a few weeks were up, I had to call multiple times to follow up - Andy and his estimator Jan promised to get back with me several times and never did. When I would get them on the phone, they would always tell me the fence was on order and should arrive in a few weeks - this cycle repeated several times. Most recently, they promised me last Friday they would get back with me Monday with an update. It's Thursday and I've not heard anything. Again. I don't know if they underbid the job and are just hoping I'll go away eventually, if they don't know the first thing about basic customer service and communication, or if they have cash flow problems and can't even order the materials. They're either incompetent, completely inconsiderate of their customers, or broke...whichever it is, I wrote them this morning to cancel our order that's went unfulfilled for over 3 months. I am not a pain-in-the-a**, high maintenance customer who is the type to write something like this after some small infraction or misunderstanding. I've been extremely reasonable and patient, understand the weather was poor this winter but am tired of the constant delays and ESPECIALLY their lack of communication.

It went fine, slow going at first due to weather, but once they got moving the instulation went quickly. They were one of the most respectful crews when it came to working around our flowers and our neighbors flowers. This crew was also very knowledgeable in their field.

They did a really nice job. My only negative would be the fact that I had to call them to see when they would be coming. I was told in a week but they did not come. I had to call them to find out why. They need to keep the client more in the loop.

Very professional and very helpful. Waited on the HOA for over a month but when we finally got approval Award Fence was all over it. They came out and installed the posts one day and a week later came out and put the fence up in 90 plus degree heat. The fence looks great and I have had numerous neighbors who have stopped by and asked about the fence.

From the beginning everybody we spoke with were very professional and helpful. Great suggestions were made along the way to the finished project, thereby giving us a better product. The installer was very kind and respectful to us and our neighbors. Any question either of us had, he was more than willing to explain available options and provide us his best advice. I definitely would use this contractor again!

It went very well, he beat the competitors price, Andy was very thorough in his explanation of how the entire process would work. The fence looks great and we are very happy.

We received several quotes from fence contractors in the Indianapolis area and Awards came in with the lowest bid (bids ranged from $4,700 to nearly $7,500). We wanted a contemporary fence to match our contemporary house and asked for untreated 4' cedar planks at staggered heights with flat tops around the property, as well as a flush 6' privacy fence between our house and the neighbors' house (we sit on a corner lot). We requested one gate at the front and one in the rear near the garage. Overall, the fence looks great. The crew did have to come back to nail a few of the posts to the planks after an inspector visited the property. Awards came back the following day to make the repairs. The only issue I had with Awards was with some spotty communications. For example, a crew came out to install the posts but nobody told me when they would be back to finish the fence. I had to contact them after a week went by to see what was going on. Similarly, we were once told a crew would be out on a certain day, but then they never showed up ... and no one contacted us to explain why. If I called them, Awards was on top of it and usually had a good response, but I feel I shouldn't have to nag someone to give me updates for something I'm paying them for. Still, I would recommend Awards Fence and Deck to anyone and have received several compliments on our fence in just the few short weeks we've had it. I know my dog loves it!

Looks great. Service was friendly and the fencing was well done. A little surprised about how much dirt I had to find a place for. One gate out of the 3 needed the latch height re-adjusted...as the posts settled.

We are very pleased with the end result. The yard backs up to a cliff and has an irregular perimeter, but they managed to maximize the enclosed yard size while avoiding a major underground gas line. The owners were both personable and professional, and wonderful to work with. We highly recommend their company.

Andy was the first contractor to respond to our request on Angie's List, calling within 1hour. He was prompt and courteous when he gave us a quote which was very reasonable. His men conducted themselves professionally and completed the work in just a few hours.

The man they sent out did a magnificent job and probably gave the fence an additional few years of life. He was a very polite, honorable man and the work was very good.

Excellent results. Very happy with the fence and its quality. Waited several weeks to get started/on the schedule but once they came to walk it off, said it would be another week. Then, a cold snap was coming and they came and put the entire thing in within 4 or 5 hours one day. Left the area very clean, no issues with damage to the yard. This is our 2nd fence with them. Very pleased.

I met the salesman, Jan VanRenterghem at the Flower and Patio show. I specifically went there to look for fence companies. He took his time and explained the fence process to me (since I have never done this before). I also spoke with another company there but they didn't install the same way, concrete in the post holes, which I thought was an important factor. There was one other company there but no one was in the booth so I left my name and number. So after talking to the others I determined that Awards Fence was the one for the job.

We spoke with 2 different men, Jan for an estimate he gave us in March 2012 and then later with his business partner Andy. We had an estimate done for fencing to replace our existing fence. Jan was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time and answered all my questions. The estimate was reasonable and in line with estimates from other companies - $2705 for new fence, posts and 3 gates. However, we weren't sure we wanted to replace our fence. Once summer was over, my husband decided to at least take down the fence and see if we liked it. That's when we called A-Ward back. Could they just remove the fence? Would we be able to remove part or all of it by ourselves? What would happen if we wanted a fence after we took it down? All these questions were answered by Andy who talked with us several times over the phone. I was so pleased with his willingness to help us out even when so much time had elapsed since our estimate. Currently, we have taken down our fence and we like it so far. But if we change our minds, A-Ward will be who we call to put in a fence. And we would highly recommend them based on their professionalism and willingness to go out of their way to help.

Overall it went very good. They were nice to work with and the fence looks good. My only complaint is how long it took to have them start. Because of rain and their already busy schedule, it took a few weeks longer than first projected.

Best price and had used them in past. They could not get to us for about a month. The gate looked ok, but the boards were not secured, so the dog knocked them off immediately. They came out and fixed it quickly and apologized. We were only interested in price. I recommend driving by some yards and checking fences they have done as I am not sure of overall quality.

We had a bullseye. They were absolutely wonderful and top notch! The fence is gorgeous.

Have used them in the pass. Previous experience has been much better. The workmanship was excellent. The problem is the sales/front office. They are sometimes hard to reach and do not return calls. They schedule a time and do not show up and then don't call to tell you why. My daughter's experience with them has been the same.They could have more business if they could get this issue resolved.

They did a very good job. I will say to expect a delay from the time of the quote to the start of the project but this was communicated to us clearly as they are a busy company so it was no problem at all. I would highly recommend them.

Awards Fence and Deck's representative was very thorough. The work was quite prompt. They removed the old fence in a single day and they put the new fence up in about a day and a half.

We had a great experience with Awards Fencing from the initial estimate to the final product. They were kind, courteous, honest, and gave us a great product for our money. We got multiple estimates from other places and felt that we were either being given a low-quality product or being given astronomical estimates.
