Jim was very efficient, putting in approximately twelve hours running up to the attic, down to the crawl space, etc. (Fifteen minutes for lunch in his truck and I offered our screened in porch). Cleaned up after each part of the project. He was very patient with us as we decided the placement of the cans, in fact after that part of the project was complete, we decided on adding another can. He didn't complain.
Description of Work: Kitchen, remove fluorescent, install five recess can lights, install two pendant light fixtures, with dimmers (two), install 120 volt outlet in attic for cable plug in, also install extra light in attic, install weather proof outdoor outlet, with GFI protection on front of house, install two weather proof outlets on back of house with power from crawl space, trouble shoot power outage of front yard light, and replace another GFI outlet.

 + 1 moreI am very, very pleased with Jim's work. Start to finish? He did everything that I needed and instructed me on what I should look for in the kitchen re-lighting. I am so pleased to have found a trusted electrician that I would recommend to my friends.
Description of Work: I had a list of small electrical jobs to do that included adding a light fixture to a ceiling fan, replacing another ceiling fan, repairing a ceiling light, removing a ceiling light fixture in the kitchen, installing a dimmer switch to a dinner room light, and installing other appropriate light switches. Jim did everything required. He explained why the (1) ceiling fan burned out (originally mis-wired), offered suggestions on re-lighting the kitchen, re-attached electrical supports to boxes for replacing the kitchen light, etc. He worked quickly, and now that I've selected a new kitchen light he is coming back to install that. I'll have him back for all my electrical work and I'm glad I found him through your web-site.

 + -1 moreJim came out and replaced the switch in just a few minutes. He also brought a 14 foot ladder so that I could replace the ceiling plate that no longer matched the chandelier I refinished. He was so helpful. When he was leaving he noticed that our outside lamp post was not working properly. It stayed on all the time. He took care of that in a snap!
Description of Work: Switch repaired after my husband and I re-hung a chandelier that I had refinished and accidental blew out the switch.

I was told upfront that it would be $100 for travel which included 1/2 hour of labor, then $65 per hour after the initial 1/2 hour. Maybe I haven't adjusted to inflation adjusted prices but $100 to travel seems very high. Sixty five dollars per hour for a non-degreed job also seems very high.
Description of Work: Connected 3 wires for Jenn-air cooktop to power. Wire was already there from previous jenn-air cooktop.

He carefully reviewed the entire circuit to ensure that there were no apparent hazards. Next, he investigated the cause of our non-functional lamp-post, found the source of the problem, and made the appropriate correction. Jim was a pleasure to meet, and I would strongly recommend him to any home owner who needs electrical service.

This time there was no response whatsoever. Must not have wanted the job, or even look at it. I wish I had a business where I could just ignore new business.

 + 0 moreThe installation went perfectly! During the free estimate, Jim learned what we wanted. He told us to purchase pendants that we liked and to give him a couple of days notice for the install. He showed up at about 9:30 and our lights were up in about 2 hours. He cleaned up his mess and accepted a check for payment. He was extremely professional and worked very hard to get the job done right. He did not charge a penny above his estimate. I would recommend him to anyone!
Description of Work: Jim installed two pendant lights above our counter/island. He had to cut a hole in the drywall ceiling to begin the wiring. He then connected the wiring to the pendants and installed a new light switch to an electrical outlet where there had been no light switch before. He cut the dry all into a perfect square and placed it back into the ceiling.

 + -1 moreI called 5 different electricians for estimates and Jim's came in the lowest. The nearest competitor came in about $50 higher. He came on time for the estimate, sent (and faxed) me the estimate within 1 day. He was on time to start the work and completed everything within 6 hours. He also cleaned up his mess and hauled away the old equipment. Overall I was very impressed with the work he did and his professionalism. I would highly recommend him to do any electrical work.
Description of Work: Jim replaced my electrical panel. It was the old screw in type breakers, and he put in a new panel. He also installed a new overhead and ran the wires through conduit which is required by code.

 + -1 moreI was pleasantly surprised that Jim came as soon as he did. It did not take him long to find the problem. The price was very reasonable, I thought, for a professional coming out to the home.
Description of Work: Aaron's came to troubleshoot an intermittent outage of electrical service to half the house. I had let him know while on the phone that the power company had checked and found that power to the house was correct. I was given Aaron's number by Angie's List Customer Service. When I called Aaron's in the morning he said he could be out sometime later the same morning. Jim came out about 1/2 hr after I spoke with him. He looked at all the electrical service boxes located in the garage and found a loose screw which he tightened up. He did say that if there were any further problems that we call him right away. He felt confident that the loose screw was the problem though.
