Steve came out to look at the generator and showed us how we can turn the generator off. He went down to the utility room and discovered the AC was pulling the CO into the house through two vents. He recommended sealing off the vents the carbon monoxide was getting in through and this resolved the problem. Another company gave us a much more expensive fix which involved moving the generator. His assessment of the problem only cost us about $100. He was very patient with our questions and took time explaining everything to us. We would highly recommend him and we would hire him again.

I wrote a review back in 2012 when Steve got my generator up and running after sitting idle for an undetermined time of at least four years. He has serviced my generator every 6-12 months ever since and I have always been pleased. After a recent outage when the generator did not engage, I was able to do a self-inspection based on information Steve has taught me over the years. I found that the battery was not making positive connection and once that was corrected, the generator fired right up. I also noticed that the battery was nearly five years old and being a standard lead-acid battery, I knew its life was short. I let Steve know of the situation, and he agreed the battery needed to be replaced. I also told him that I have been unemployed for a time as I am trying to start my own business. He was gracious enough to do what he could to keep costs down. Based on our experience, my wife and I will not have a house without a generator and if we stay within the area, Steve will be the one who installs and/or services our equipment.

I contacted Steve who I believe is the owner and was able to begin communications immediately via email which was convenient and he was also able to accommodate this service call within the same week or so. He arrived as scheduled and got started right away. All went fine.

I was satisfied with the price. Steve had trouble giving me exact times for the services because scheduling conflicts. I used my handyman to double check everything while we were waiting. When Steve got here he was good, but he did not always come on time (the same goes for the people that delivered the generator). Steve did not supply enough man power to move the generator. I had to hire my handyman and one more gentleman to help him get it into the yard. He knows his business, but can be inefficient. He did a great job of educating me and my handyman to make sure that we understand how the generator works and how to make sure it is working properly. I would use him again if I needed another generator because of his knowledge.

Although I expressed the lack of urgency to my request, Steve was out the same day to look at my generator. He did not charge me for this service call, since he was just ascertaining the equipment. Based on his assessment, he provided a rough quote, which was spot on for the final cost. I have a whole house generator that I have not utilized since purchasing the house nearly four years ago. It is uncertain how long it sat idle and I wanted maintenance on it before starting it up. Steve spent two hours replacing a battery, spark plugs and changing the oil, filter and coolant. He provided verbal instructions on the unit, assisted in getting me an owner's manual, but was not completely satisfied with its overall performance, so I will be calling him out in six months to see if it has improved. We are both hopeful that this significant maintenance and routine use will deliver the power this generator should provide. He was very responsive and returned my initial call within an hour late in the evening. I have exchanged several calls and emails with him since. Since this is his specialty, he is very knowledgeable and meticulous. I look forward to a long professional relationship with Steve Matus and STK Power Solutions.

Steve was very knowledgeable and patient with our questions throughout the process. He installed the pad before the winter freeze so it would be ready once the unit arrived. He was willing to work with an electrician we chose and modified his quote to accommodate that work. The 2011 east coast snow storm and power outages caused a significant factory delay in shipping our generator. Steve kept in routine contact with the factory attempting to expedite the shipment. He also kept us informed of the status. When the generator arrived, Steve came out on a Saturday to inspect the unit and place it on the pad. He seamlessly coordinated the contractors and had the unit commissioned with in a couple of days. When we had a post install question, Steve promptly came out to check that the unit was functioning correctly. He did not charge us for that call. During the entire process, Steve was prompt when answering emails and phone calls. He was professional, courteous and accommodating. Overall we are very pleased with the generator and the installation experience. We would recommend STK to anyone interested in purchasing a whole house generator.
