Rick is knowledgeable but he's also arrogant. I needed a small repair and a transition strip installed. Apparently my job was too small for his company even though he told us he would have someone there the week of January 13th. No one ever showed and no one called. When I first called, I was told to call back in 6 weeks when they weren't so busy. I said I was willing to wait the 6 weeks but would like to at least get on the calendar because he would be busy when I called again. My husband and I both work from home so left it wide open as to when they could come. As a matter of fact, when they called to see if they could come by to look at the job in an hour, I said sure and they did. Did NOT hear a word from them after that. I stopped by there today to purchase the glue to do the transition strip myself. He said he doesn't know what kind I would need and when I said he was the pro, he told me to go deal with the "stupid idiots at Menards" and that "he shouldn't be expected to fix all the mistakes stupid (I guess that's me) people make". Ummm, I kind of thought that was part of what he does since he didn't say "I don't do repairs" when I spoke to him on the phone. He could have simply told me he didn't want to do the job or that they don't do that kind of work. I waited WEEKS for him to come out. That isn't good customer service. He actually raised his voice to me when I told him that. I know it's a small job but I'm glad he has enough business that he can throw it away. I will never do business with him and if anyone ever asks me about flooring companies, I won't recommend him.

Called this company 3 times based on feedback from other reviews. We explained what we needed in detail and an appointment for an estimate was scheduled for Thursday, 8/8 (they were booked out). However, on the morning of the estimate, no one called nor showed up. When we called to follow-up, we were told that they don't do that type of work. The man said that the girl who scheduled it probably misunderstood what we needed. I totally understand that they may not do that type of work, but find it very unprofessional that no one called us back to cancel the appointment, instead just didn't show up and wasted our time.

They did a great job. Our previous floors in these areas were uneven. Rick's guys evened out the floors and did a wonderful job of installing and cleaning up. Very professional and great to work with.

Rick and his crew were exceptional throughout the entire process. We wanted the plan the install while we were away and Rick worked us into his schedule. we paid to have them move the furniture which they did without any incident. Although it was a big job they completed it within the agreed tome. When we returned and walked in the house, it was like we never left. Except for the new beautiful floor everything was in its exact place, the spaces had been throughly cleaned and we have a gorgeous updated home!

Great! They were polite and worked with my schedule. The few little dings to the wall that happened were repaired and they kept in contact and let me know of any changes. Owner was wonderful and I love his dog!!

Rick and team were very responsive to our questions, and had significantly lower prices than some of their competitors. We did have to wait several months to get the project started, due to limited availability with their schedule. The hardwood floor installer, Dan, was an extremely hard and fast worker. We had experience with another company before, and compared to them, the team with Rick Short Flooring was a lot more efficient.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Rick was very prompt in returning my call and came out to the house to measure and work on an estimate prior to installation. Based on the price quotes we received from other installers, Rick's pricing was very reasonable. Once we settled on the product that we wanted to use he ordered the flooring and got us scheduled. They were even able to start on our install a day earlier than they had originally planned which was very nice. The guys who installed our flooring were very courteous and did their best to minimize the amount of dust which is not an easy job when tearing out all the old flooring and installing new flooring. Not only did they do a great job but they were also able to finish the job a day early. In total, the installation took 4 days. Once they were finished they reinstalled the shoe trim throughout the main floor and cleaned up any dust that still remained. I am thrilled to death with the outcome and would highly recommend Rick and his team to anyone. We will definitely use Rick Short Flooring for our carpet replacement on the second level of our home next year.

Professional, prompt, reasonably priced. Work was completed on time. Workmanship was excellent. Rick and his entire crew were great to work with, along with being very personable. Definitely will use him again.

Very satisfied with this work. Good carpet/flooring selection. After color choice, another similar carpet of better quality at similar cost was suggested (with which we agreed). Removed all old carpet and installed new pad and carpet quickly. Vinyl flooring in utility room looks great with good attention to detail around furnace/water heater. Rick came out at end of job and inspected/vacuumed rooms. Great Job!

The gentlemen that did the work did it quickly and even had to work on Saturday to finish a couple of areas. That was no problem and that only helped our contractor finish before our end date. The guys that did the work were very polite and worked quickly with a lot of expertise. They suggested alternatives and they all worked out well. Mr. Short's company had done work for us before and we couldn't be happier with the results and him. He knows his floors and is easy to work with.

We were highly satisfied with Rick Short and his crew. They were professional, knowledgeable, and hard working. I was very happy with the end result. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

A few weeks ago we discovered that our refrigerator was leaking water from the back hose to the ice maker. The leak caused our laminate floor to separate around the fridge. Rick came out to see the damage and estimate how much it will be to replace the damaged sections. Rick arrived exactly when his office said he would. His staff is friendly and easy to deal with. We will be using Rick to do this repair.

Rick and his team are great to work with. When the installation began, we noted an issue with the quality of the wood. Rick dropped what he was doing and was at our house within 15 minutes. He immediately contacted the manufacturer to discuss the problem. We had replacement material at the house within a day or two. The rest of the installation was perfect. He even took a sample of the existing baseboard and to have the stain for the new shoe mould carefully matched to the existing baseboards. The floors are beautiful! This is the third time we have had him work on our floors. The first hardwood installation in 2005 included our kitchen, living and dining room, entry and hallways. The floors still look like brand new. Phase 2 in 2010 included two bedrooms. This last round finished up all remaining floors that we intended to have hardwoods. Since we don't have any issues with the quality of all of the work, I won't need his installation services in the future. But I have every confidence that if we have any issues with the floor and repair or refinishing is required, Rick and his team will be there for us.

We were replacing worn vinyl in our kitchen and entryway. It is a large area, and the job took parts of two days. The workers did a wonderful job, and we are so pleased with the results. Working with this company was a dream. They showed up on time, did great work, cleaned everything up, and moved the appliances for us. Rick Short stopped by both days to check on the progress, and to ask us if there was anything more they could do for us. If we replace any other flooring in our house, we will definitely use Rick Short Flooring again. Cheryl in the office was also a great help when we were choosing the floor material. I would probably have chosen a much darker floor, but because my kitchen does not get much light, she recommended we use a lighter shade. She was absolutely correct!! The floor we installed is perfect.

Our basement flooded, ruined the carpet. We removed old carpet and cleaned floor. We went to Rick's office (he was out). Talked to office personal which let us take home several samples and made appointment for salesperson to come to our home. Rick came just as scheduled with more samples and helped us make our decision on which carpet to install. Workmen showed up on time did a great job and left quietly, several days later Rick stopped by to see if everything went well. Which it did

They do very good and pretty work. They are awfully good. We have recommended them to others because of their quality of work. They were also very reasonably priced.

The first time Rick installed floors in my kitchen, living room, entry and hallway. He had to remove a significant amount of ceramic time. Rick and the crew did a wonderful job. The floors still look beautiful. Mor recently, I had hardwoods installed in two of our bedrooms. I plan on having hardwods put in the last two bedrooms in 2012. His work is excellent, his prices are very reasonable for the quality of workmanship and the materials he uses.

They sent a person to do the prep work as scheduled followed by the installation person when the leveling compound was cured. Everything was done as contracted. The workers were prompt and cleaned up leaving everything as expected.

Great job done by this company, very professional and very fair price for the amount of work it took in 90 degree weather.we have recommended them to several people.

From start to finish the fine job was coplete in 3 days which not full days. floor prep took removing tile , grinding floor and putting down latex and faric to level.Let dry overnight and the day the floor was to be installed we found another low spot which he repaired before men showed up to lay floor. Went very well and we would be proud to have him do any other flooring for us. Good job Rick.
