I left 2 messages stating that I was interested in giving them business and that they were working around the corner from my home. I have still not received a call back. Extremely unprofessional.

 + 0 moreSteve Lewis and his crew are professional and courteous. They do high quality work and can be counted on to do what they say they will do and to complete a project on time. Moreover, they are responsive and seek to satisfy their customers. After the garage was finished, they quickly responded to a request to come resolve a small problem on the roof. They were also willing to make an adjustment in the final bill for some small damage they caused to the new driveway. I prefer working with a small company like this in which the owner also works with his crew throughout the job. We are pleased with our new garage and recommend Hammer & Nail to others.

 + 1 moreIt went great! Previously our house had our back door off of the sunroom and windows off our dining room that was open to the kitchen. Steve came in and walled in the old door and replace a double window that was in the dining room with a French door. Now our kitchen/outside flow as they should have when the home was built.

 + 0 moreThey did an excellent job. I think they're very professional. They do what they say they're gonna do. Their price is good. They work hard. They pay attention to detail. They were painting the bathroom and instead of painting it with the color I picked out, one of the workers said, "I don't really think this is the color you're thinking it was gonna be because it's kind of pink." Before he even got very far, he was right that I didn't like the color and so, we were able to take it back and get it painted and all that. They want to make sure that you're happy when they're done. I think they normally have a wait just because they're so busy but for us, it worked out fine. We'd definitely use them again.

 + 1 moreIt was pretty good. There were some problems trying to get things completed in a timely manner. But the thing is, we did end up talking to him and he did come back and get the things completed. What basically happened was, he had some financial issues and so he had to go do another job. He was somebody you could talk to or whatever. The quote another company had given was pretty close to what he was saying. The price was probably fine. He was kind of late sometimes. Most of the times he would try to call, but sometimes he didn't call. At the end of it, he made it right.
Description of Work: We had quite a few things done around the house. Things like painting and floors.

Steve is very easy to talk to and always has good suggestions about how to make what we want for the room work. Very professional and excellent work done and all work was done in a reasonable amount of time. We would highly recommend and we will use them for any future renovations.

No one ever returned my call. Maybe they couldn't do the work, I don't know. I would think they could at least call me back and tell me that the project isn't something they could do.

 + -1 moreHammer and Nail updated our basement by removing a drop ceiling, adding a drywall ceiling, several can lights, carpentry around the metal columns, and installing new windows. The work they did was wonderful - very professional. Returning emails in a timely manner is not their strong suit, but if you have the time to wait, the work they do is top notch. They have done several projects in our neighborhood and all are done with very high quality.

 + -1 moreIt could not have gone better. The work was performed over a 12 week period (it was a HUGE job). Steve, Eric and the team work with more focus, diligence and discipline than any company I've ever hired for anything. They show up to work and they work from start of day until the end. They take short scheduled breaks and a short lunch. They are creative, good natured, responsive and fair. We got special touch after special touch and their pride in the project was as great as ours.
Description of Work: Hammer and Nail performed a total building interior remodel on a 100 year old farmhouse that had been horrifically converted years ago for light commercial and we were turning it into fun and energetic space for a small marketing agency. The work included design consultation, estimating, demolition, rebuild and significant remodel. 20 rooms, 4 bathrooms and a kitchen.

 + 1 moreThe double doors and the bottom edges of the side of the mini barn were rebuilt using cedar wood. We chose to prime and then paint the mini barn on our own for the cost savings. Steve and crew did a great job on fixing up our old barn. It should be good for many more years to come!

 + 0 moreThe three man crew arrived promptly at eight o'clock in the morning like they said they would. They were pretty much done by the time the noon hour lunch time rolled around. They were very quick, clean and efficient. They were able to squeeze my project in while also working on a room addition on another house in my neighborhood. My "window" of opportunity came up while they were waiting on windows to be delivered to this other home later that day.
Description of Work: We had installed a solid oak floor in a roughly 13 X 10 home bedroom. I had already purchased the hardwood on my own so it was pretty much just the labor on their part along with some quarter round that Steve did run out to purchase for me. The flooring on my part with shipping and tax was around $765 which is included in the figure above. My wife and I had also already removed the old carpet and padding and one of the two subfloors in preparation. This saved them some demolition time, and likely on additional labor expense for us. They have done other work for me over the years with one of the previous projects being the same wood being installed in the hallway leading to the bedrooms. They have also replaced the gables on my house with fiber cement after the wood gables had deteriorated. At some point they will come out again to do some work on my tool shed that needs some doors rebuilt and some siding replaced.

 + -1 moreSteve, Eric and Jim are three of the hardest working individuals I have ever met. They completed a project in 5 days that we thought would take weeks to complete. We were very comfortable to have them in our home. They were able to accommodate us on changes we made mid-project. They offered great ideas on some layout questions we had. They have completed work for us in the past and they will continue to be our contractor of choice. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Conducted prep and finish work for our kitchen remodel. Removed wall between kitchen and dining room and removed pantry. Made all electrical and plumbing changes necessary. Completed all finish work including flooring and tile. Their attention to detail on the finish work was excellent.

 + 4 moreSteve was able to fit us in which is great because the house is on the market and we wanted it done as soon as possible. Steve informed us the date he would start and that was the day he started. It took him 2-3 days and let us know when he was finished. We went there and were very pleasantly surprised! It was so much better than we could have imagined. The drywall looked flawless and the bathroom turned out great. The integration of the 1/2 bath looked like it had always been there and the new dining room ceiling was great with the crown molding. We were very happy with everything! We have already received great comments from an open house regarding the 1/2 bath.

 + -1 moreI was pretty unhappy with them. They came back with a quote just for material and they said they did not have time to put together a complete quote. The guy who came out to give a quote was on time. He said he will get a quote in one week and he took two weeks to get a quote and like I said he just got the quote for labor and material and not a complete quote. I would not use their service in the future.
