+ -1 moreWas not impressed with this company. Their lack of knowledge in the inspection report is outrageous from foam insulation to framing was very poor. The best they could recommend was to contact a structural engineer. I have been building homes for over 50 yrs and their lack of knowledge is very unprofessional. After contacting a structural engineer for a report the home was built above and beyond todays standards let alone they have no idea how spray foam insulation works. Please educate yourself on this manner. Let alone all the other things you had no clue about but wanted to make your report look good and don’t forget a arborist for a tree that lost a limb while you were outside. The tree is no where close to the home at all. I can say is there are very qualified company’s out there that do a very professional job not a company that hasn’t any knowledge

Description of Work: Bill inspected a home that we made a purchase contract offer. Bill was very thorough and explained what we were looking at. Bill found several water mold issues that were not found by the mortgage company appraiser, which after negotiation with the seller resulted in a reduced purchase price. I feel very confident that I now know the house's weak spots better than my solo inspection, and I understand light construction, plumbing, and electricity reasonably well. Bill's report included a lot of boiler plate for understanding by all, but was clear and understandable even if the reader had never been in the house. Bill's report was 46 pages long and received the day after the inspection. I recommend Halstead Home Inspection and I recommend accompanying Bill for the entire inspection--you will learn a great deal about your potential home is a short time. Money very well spent.

Within a week, he performed the inspections, sent the report to me by email, and followed up with a telephone conversation to answer any questions. Since I am out of town, a friend attended the inspection and said Bill was very thorough. Based upon his ethical standards, he would not recommend any contractors to address his concerns but was willing to explain to them about his concerns. Bill did the job that I expected and I'm very pleased with the results.

He was polite and answered all of our questions and sent an electronic report to us that same night. He pointed out details of the electrical system installed as well as heating and other pertinant informations we would need to know. He took pictures to document everything he seen, even in the crawl space. He went over everything with us before we left the house and asked if we had any concerns or other questions.

I was impressed that he gave me a binder afterwards while still on site that had photos of all the areas mentioned in the inspection report, and any problems found. It was nice to see someone that is competent, professional, and uses the latest technology to provide a better product. Also provided was a home maintenance manual and various tips on maintaining the structure.

Description of Work: Great experience. Tells the honest truth and is only here to help you and give a professional opinion. In addition to the inspection, he even included information on how to keep the house in shape after I buy it. And, he was very detailed about every issue with the house. I had a construction person there during the inspection and they worked together to figure out what needed to be done and how much it was going to cost. He was VERY helpful!
