This company sent someone to my home who lied to my face and attempted to scam me out of $15,000 while my wife was 9 months pregnant. I did not know it at the time, but the Elite technician tried out a common ruse on me. It’s the cracked heat exchanger scam, and it goes something like this: “your heat exchanger is cracked. This means carbon monoxide is leaking into your home, risking the health and safety of your family. Replacing it would be as expensive as replacing the whole system, so let’s have you buy a new system today. And if you act now, I can throw in…” My favorite line that really started to tip me off that I was being played for a fool was the part when the technician tried to show me the carbon monoxide levels on a meter he had. They were normal, but he was sure to tell me, “oh, you can’t see the part where the levels will be the highest and most dangerous because they are further up the line.” I just had to take his word for it. The visit was originally just to transfer over routine service from one house to the new one we had newly purchased. [*** Link removed ***] Several other companies have inspected the heat exchanger on the unit and informed us that we were lied to. No serious cracks, no leaking carbon monoxide, just a dishonest person trying to work a scam on a guy with a pregnant wife and five year old twins. First I was scared because I believed Elite when they told me that the air quality in my home might be dangerous. I now know not to trust them. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Can assure you I will never do business with this company again.

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! They do not understand the system that they installed (and we are still paying on). Haven’t heard from them since the last week of 2022 after our heat went out on 23AUG2022. Multiple errors on their part has led to permanent damage to our system. Here’s some examples of how inept they are: - Installed a 3 wire hard start motor with 2 wires. ‘Fixed’ it, still wrong, proud owner of a melted hard start motor. - Installed our thermostat incorrectly, a/c was running whenever our heat ran. - Found out on 23DEC2022, the coldest day of the year (by far), when our heat went completely out, that our auxiliary heat was never hooked up (great conversation with Allie, their admin. “Is your auxiliary heat on?” “What auxiliary heat?” “Your auxiliary heat?” “Allie, I have no idea what you are talking about!”). - Came the next week and tried to install a board from a different manufacturer (I know) and of course it didn’t work. That was the last time we heard from them. They were supposed to be getting back to us the next week to get our heat going and then get the manufacturer out to us to see what could be done but they’ve gone no contact. One of their techs, who I believe meant well, pointed out a ton of their errors but he didn’t even get everything fixed. Another reviewer commented on how terrible Allie is but she does have to listen to ticked off, disgusted customers all day! DO NOT USE THEM. BEWARE OF A COMPANY THAT SPENDS SOOOOO MUCH ON ADVERTISING! They simply don’t care and don’t stand behind their very expensive investment!
Description of Work: We need our system fixed. Compressor is now permanently damaged from their incompetence and the hard start motor is melted. Thermostat still not setup correctly. They are a joke!

On Dec 15, a tech was here for a service call. I had a code 2.3 on my furnace and the Draft inducer motor was not spinning. We went to the basement and turned on the furnace. He noticed the code 2.3 and told me the motor needed replaced. The only thing he touched was holding down the panel switch. He did not use a multi meter for anything. He did not check the thermostat, the control board, the pressure switch. He checked NOTHING. I was there the entire time. I asked him about the pressure switch. He told me that is never the problem and the motor needed replaced. The tech told me that I’d be looking at around $1300 for parts and labor. He mentioned the part might not be in until Feb. and doubted financing would be available. Then he told me the best way to go is a new furnace. He told me I should be able to get financing for that, it would be $5000 at $83 a month and it could be installed very soon. I told him I would consider the things he told me. He left. I know this doesn’t matter, but I checked several places and got $200 as the average price of an in-stock draft inducer motor. Today is Dec. 31. A few days ago, I checked the furnace again. Everything worked including flame for about 2 minutes. The motor was turned off last after the flame went out. It worked like this several times and still is. It gave a Code 3.1. I checked voltage of the thermostat at the control board and it is correct. I checked several hoses for obstruction and cleaned out the drain pan. I lightly cleaned the flame sensor. I vacuumed out the exhaust line, but I don’t think my vacuum was suited to that job. None of this seemed to help. I removed the draft inducer motor and ran it on 115v for 7 minutes and it worked fine. This leads me to believe the motor itself is not the problem. I have re-installed it and am still having the same problem. One thing I realized is that when the furnace was working properly, there was always a metal “thud” when the furnace came on. That no longer happens. Perhaps there is a venting problem. I called Elite yesterday. The service manager told me the tech’s report included that he checked the draft inducer motor. Again, I was down there the whole time. I was rather angry about his lying. The service manager said she was the only manager there and that she could not help me if I was going to argue with her. I was upset, not arguing. Eventually, she said someone would contact me after the first of the year. I expect a refund on the service call. I also expect a different tech to come out for a free service call to see what is really wrong with my furnace. I would have to assume 1/2 of the good reviews for Elite are from people who didn't know they were getting screwed over. I can only hope Elite believes me and not their employee. Perhaps it is just the one dishonest employee and does not reflect Elite accurately. It does make me wonder if I really needed this furnace I bought from them 6 years ago as a replacement.

Description of Work: I have a generator that quit working. They sent a boy that had to keep calling the "generator expert" the boy said it was blown up and he would have the other guy call me. He never called. A week later I had to call them and they said another guy would call me. A week later I called them back. Still hasn't called me. I don't think I can take the "experts" word since he really never looked at it. Guess I'll call someone else.

Response from Elite Heating Air Conditioning Inc
I believe anyone that uses the word boy, to describe someone that is a man, black or white, speaks volumes about themselves. Our employees are all men or women, and we are proud of our team. We aren't willing to subject our valued employees to any defamatory/discriminatory attacks as occurred with this comment. We were not interested in pursuing a relationship or allowing this homeowner to become a customer. We value our customers, of all types, and would protect them in the same way we are protecting our valuable employees, we also are fortunate to be selective in bringing on customers deserving of our care and service. Our customers deserve the best, and in turn we are careful to speak highly and confidentially to those that are considered customers. A one time visit for an issue that we did not install, nor have history on, does not make this person a customer. Why they didn't call the original installer is telling. The knee jerk F speaks for the reason this would not be a good relationship on either side. Nothing in the facts mentioned here by the writer of the message warrant an F rating, showing the caller was merely unsatisfied with our dis-interest in pursuing any relationship further, and thus, showing their true colors by calling our employee, a man, black or white a "boy." Normal Elite customers would have expressed their concerns first to a manager allowing a response and attempt to sort through issues, which we take seriously and handle feedback like gold. This was not feedback, it was defamation to the character of a professional technician. This did not occur, and instead the customer handled rejection negatively.

They ended up installing it and charging us the full price and never helped us with receiving the rebates. My wife had to spend a month tracking all that information down on her own. Also, they installed a different model than the one they said they were going to install, which frustrated me. I won't even let this company come out to service the system regularly for maintenance.

Setting up the visit was very good and the tech arrived on time. It was all downhill from there. In reading several other reviews, my experience seems like the SOP for this company. The first furnace had a little bit of orange flame from time to time so I was told how bad that was and that the integrity of the combustion chamber was bad (showed some rust and light 'pitting.' Replacing that was basically as expensive as replacing the furnace in whole and since I had a basic, 'builders grade' unit, I should consider a full replacement. I also got the 'this deal is only available for the next week' because 11/1, the prices go up. The tech 'took' a CO reading and told me that the unit was emitting a lot of CO...something like 23 or 25 PPM (PPB?) and that at like 30, they have to call the gas company and basically have my furnace condemned (shut off until replaced), but of course he would cut me some slack. Checked out my upstairs furnace and found the fan motor that initially kicks in was drawing too much power, like a 1/2 an amp or something and that the igniter needed to be replaced. Quoted nearly $500 for those repairs, but would 'throw them in free with the purchase of the first floor furnace. A little research and I found the parts for the upstairs were basically about $100 and labor to replace is about 30 minutes! Needless to say, I was skeptical about the findings. I knew the motor had an issue on the upstairs as we can here it start....stop and then start again, but the first floor was another issue! I had two other companies come out and check the first floor unit. Both found the CO emission to be ZERO and questioned why we would specifically ask them to check this out. Both told us the furnace was fine and that we 'may' want to consider replacing it to get something more efficient but otherwise it was working as expected. Additionally, as others have stated, nothing was was cleaned. The tech made an attempt to open the humidifier and couldn't figure it out. When one of the other guys was out checking the furnace, he cleaned that and found the drain was plugged which was the 'biggest issue' he found. All in all, my general experience with any of these 'inspection' types of deals is that it is just a way for these companies to instill some fear into unsuspecting people in order to up-sell other services they offer.
Description of Work: Inspected both furnaces, nothing cleaned.

The technician came out, no booties on his dirty shoes, looking unkempt, wanted to chitchat so he could stare at my chest while he talked (I'm female). I told him I had a coupon for cleaning and inspection. He "inspected" the furnace for about five minutes and told me it had a cracked heat exchange and the thermocouple was bad. He then put me on the phone with his supervisor/salesman who proceeded to give me outrageous prices for new furnaces, telling me the "good" prices only lasted until June 1 (three days away, conveniently). I told both of them I'd think about it and get a second opinion. I knew the furnace was old but had never caused me any issue. The tech didn't even clean the furnace, no vacuum or taking apart of ANYTHING was involved other than wiping it with a rag. Yes, that's all I saw him do, other than him showing me with some camera that there were all sorts of "holes" in the furnace, which again I didn't see even looking on the camera, just rust and some dirt. The tech then tried to tell me I hadn't already paid for the coupon, which was incorrect. As he went out the door, he tried to make small talk with me again, all the while staring about ten inches below my face. Disgusting and unprofessional. After getting a second and third opinion, lo and behold, nothing is wrong with my furnace other than it is old. I have also since learned Elite has told several people in my same neighborhood the same thing, when nothing was wrong with their furnace. Never again. Ever.

I had called up this company as I was pricing multiple companies to get my air conditioner replaced. I had received a competitive offer from a competitor for a Carrier Comfort series heat pump. I had called up Elite and told them the price and they said they could beat it. They came out and met with me and gave me a more competitive quote for the same Carrier Comfort series pump, including the brochure on the Carrier Comfort Series heat pumps. They offered to come out the very next day to install. Whenever the two guys arrived to install the unit, they were quick to get started but also stopped to explain to me a couple items I had questions on. The two guys were very polite, and knowledgeable. I hung around for about an hour before leaving for work. They called me when they were about 30 minutes away from being done and I returned home. They walked me through how to use the unit and the upgraded thermostat I paid for. I was very satisfied with the service at this point. Upon reviewing the information including the receipt, I noticed that the model number on the outside heat pump did not match what was quoted and what I had received from the competitor. I searched online for an explanation of the new model number and realized that it was a "Base" unit, that was of a lessor quality than what I was quoted and what I had already paid for. I texted the salesman and asked what the difference was between the two units. Much to my surprise, he told me how fortunate I was that I had received that unit, which was actually a newer model that was better than what I had paid for! I informed him that it was actually not a better unit, but a "Base" unit as opposed to the Comfort series unit that was quoted to me. He was away from the office and told me he would have to research the differences when he got back into the office. After checking with him the next day, after no response, he informed me that the "Base" unit was a cheaper model but was replacing the "Comfort" series unit in the fall, and that the office manager had mistakenly substituted the unit. He offered to refund me $200 which was the cost differential (allegedly), extend the labor warranty, or replace the unit with the one I actually purchased. I told him that I wanted the system I actually paid for, but that I couldn't miss work again and that it would need to be done on a Saturday. He was able to schedule it a couple weeks later. Once again, two guys came out, went straight to work, and appear to have done a fine job. The whole situation left me very weary of ever dealing with this company again. The salesman, through ignorance or deceit, is not someone that I feel that I can trust. The responses that he gave me that I can substantiate were all inaccurate, so I doubt the other things I've been told are 100% accurate. At the end of the day, I've gotten what I paid for, but was not compensated for all of the time, effort, and stress associated with dealing with the salesman another time, researching, and having installers come out a second time. I would suggest to anyone looking to purchase a new unit to go to another company that may be a little bit more, but that is more trustworthy. Unfortunately, I know the cost of a dissatisfied customer, and have told multiple people the issues I encountered during this transaction. If anyone at Elite would like to discuss this situation, I would be happy to explain in greater detail.

They were timely and professional, but this was the 2nd time in a row they performed services, and found problems, which were refuted by a second opinion. The first time they tried to convince me I needed a new furnace. I got a second opinion, who disagreed. They came out a second time, and found a leak in the coolant line, and mold, which would be expensive to take care of. I called a different company for a second opinion, and they didn't find either issue. I kind of felt like I was being taken for a ride.

This was a bad experience from the beginning. As a result of a inadequate install we have not had adequate heat for most of the heating season. Their service staff has been to my house multiple times since the install trying to determine why the system was not working. At one point their suggestion was to pull the breaker on the new system until they could get someone there to fix it. The problems we have had for the entire season resulted in higher than usual bills and inadequate heat. When I did not hear from this company to resolve this problem I called someone else for a second opinion. It took them 15 minutes to correct the problem that Elite could not after multiple visits. Very dissatisfied. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Scheduling was very prompt and we got an appointment that was convenient for us. We ended up buying a new furnace through them with a one year warranty. They were professional and seemed to know what they were doing. They did the installation in one day but came back the following day to do the appropriate wiring for the thermostat. We had some problems with our HVAC system beforehand and now our bill seems to be lower since they installed the new system. I felt it was money well spent!

They arrived on time and did a good job. I think the price was fair. When I scheduling the service, they tried to say an Angie's list coupon I had was expired when there was no expiration date on it. After I pushed back they allowed me to use it, but would not do the service on a weekend because of the coupon. This is my only complaint.
